a problem on Ubuntu with Asterisk
Have a nice day, Scott Berry E-mail: N7zib at northlc.com I am studying out of the book Asterisk: The Future of Telephony on Chapter 4, and right now for practicing using the built in Debian version of Asterisk for Ubuntu. I am however having some problem where I cannot do "asterisk -r" and hook up to the asterisk CLI. I have checked to see that

having problems with asterisk
Hello there, I am reading Asterisk: The Future of Telephony Chapter four. I am using a Ubuntu box with Asterisk precompiled at this time so I can learn. I am finding that I am having a problem when I do "asterisk -r" from the command line. It says: Unable to connect remotely (are you sure that /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl is available.) The answer to this question is yes. I also

how to get /var/run/asteris/asterisk.ctl
Hello there everyone, Well I have set up Asteriks 6.0 and almost have Freepbx working too. However, freepbx is showing me that /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl is not found. I confirmed that by going to the directory. How do I get /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl put in correctly? I am using a Ubuntu 8.10 system. Thanks much.

Just Take dCAP at Astricon?
Since it is Saturday evening (7PM EST) I am asking this on the list in case someone who knows sees it and can answer. Astricon is in my back yard for the first time, and I could hit you with a rock. I would always like to attend, and spoke at the 2007 Astricon in Phoenix but don't have the idle cycles. Question: Can I just go to Astricon and take the dCAP exam only? In and out? Cost? I

dCAP study recommendations
Greetings. Anyone have any recommendations for studying for the dCAP Certification? Other than the expensive Digium courses, there doesn't seem to be anything online. dCAp
HI, theres a lot of controversy related to this topic, my company is thinking on me to take the astricon bootcamp, but want to know if it is really whorty, 3000 USD is a huge amount of money to spend, plus the hotel, food and transportation, ive already deployed some asterisk?s pbx and have experience with it using analog tdm cards and E1/T1, queues, conference rooms, IVR, ACD, inbound and

reading json tables
I'm trying to read two data sets in json format from a single .js file. I've tried fromJSON() in both RJSONIOIO and RJSON packages, but they require that the lines be pre-parsed somehow in ways I don't understand. Can someone help? > wheat <- readLines("http://mbostock.github.com/protovis/ex/wheat.js") > str(wheat) chr [1:70] "var wheat = [" "

"Types" of missingness
Dear R-List, My questions concerns missing values. Specifically, is is possible to use different "types" of missingness in a dataset and not a one-size-fits-all NA? For example, data may be missing because of an outright refusal by a respondent to answer a question, or because she didn't know an answer, or because the item simply did not apply. In later analysis it is sometimes

Help me improving my code
Hi, I am new to R. My problem is with the ordered logistic model. Here is my question: Generate an order discrete variable using the variable wrwage1 = wages in first full calendar quarter after benefit application in the following way: * wage*1*Ordered *= 1 *if*0 *· wrwage*1 *< *1000 2 *if*1000 *· wrwage*1 *< *2000 3 *if*2000 *· wrwage*1 *< *3000 4 *if*3000 *· wrwage*1 *<

trouble switching to 'plm' from 'xtabond' and Stata
Hello, I am switching to R from Stata and I am having particular trouble with the transition from Stata's 'xtabond' and 'ivreg' commands to the "plm" package. I am trying to replicate some of the dynamic panel data work using the UK Employment data in Arellano and Bond (1991) and available as 'EmplUK' under the 'plm' package. I have been

The opposite of "lag"
Hello! I have a data frame A (below) with a grouping factor (group). I take my DV and create the new, lagged DV by applying the function lag.it (below). It works fine. A <- data.frame(year=rep(c(1980:1984),3), group= factor(sort(rep(1:3,5))), DV=c(rnorm(15))) lag.it <- function(x) { DV <- ts(x$DV, start = x$year[1]) idx <- seq(length = length(DV)) DVs <- cbind(DV, lag(DV,

how to calculate the mean of a group in a table
Hi its me again I don't mean to get on your nerves, but the use of R proofs to be a bit more complicated than envisaged. I would like to calculate the mean of a group of values, here "wage_accepted". The group is determined by the stage and period, so in the end there should be a column with the values of the wages in period 1 stage1, period 1 stage 2, period 2 stage1...

Using a 'for' loop : there should be a better way in R
I need to apply a yearly inflation factor to some wages and supply some simple sums by work category. I have gone at it with a brute force "for" loop approach which seems okay as it is a small dataset. It looks a bit inelegant and given all the warnings in the Intro to R, etc, about using loops I wondered if anyone could suggest something a bit simpler or more efficent? Example:
