Polycom's lose BLF after Asterisk restart
We have an issue where Polycom's lose BLF functionality after a reboot. The
only way to fix it is to reboot the Polycoms.
Anyone else have this issue? We are using 1.4.18.
If I run 'sip show subscriptions' all the subscriptions come back after the
restart but the lights on the phones do not work.
Any help would be appreciated.

force channel hangup
Hi guys,
I have 1 zap channel in my house shared among couple people. If someone dials 911, I want that zap channel to be disconnected right away to make way for the 911 call.
I dug through voip-info.org and didn't find much.
Any hints?

mystery process "unit"
Ok, dumb question. On a certain LAMP server I am seeing in 'ps auxf' a process
called "unit" with no arguments or other path info. It has a fairly low pid,
3041, indicating it might have been started soon after reboot (last week).
but ps says it was started yesterday,
I don't see it on any of 3 other CentOS machines. It is hard to google for
such a generic name. So does

h323 channel compile error
I have following settings done on my Fedora8:
Downloaded
openh323-v1_19_0_1-src-tar.gz
pwlib-v1_11_1-src.tar.gz
Extracted them in /root/openh323 and /root/pwlib
Exported the following variables:
PWLIBDIR=/root/pwlib
export PWLIBDIR
OPENH323DIR=/root/openh323
export OPENH323DIR
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$PWLIBDIR/lib:$OPENH323DIR/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Then I compiled pwlib and it was fine.

SECURITY QUESTION & SANITY CHECK
SECURITY QUESTION & SANITY CHECK:
If only my SIP ports and a small range of RTP ports are facing the
public internet, what is the method by which an evildoer would be able
to do fraudulent long distance on my nickel?
Would it REALLY be as simple as guessing the credentials for ANY of my
local sip endpoints? Like most people, my local endpoint credentials
would be easy to guess:

OT: RIP settings for private netblocks
I am contemplating converting some of our internal networks from routable
to private IPv4 address space. I have a question about RIP as implemented
under Cisco IOS 12.x.
Presently the setting for rip is:
router rip
version 2
passive-interface [[FastEthernet]]0/0
network aaa.bbb.ccc.0
no auto-summary
What I would like to know is how one routes the entire 192.168/16 address
space using rip.

ATA phones ring when they register
Hi,
I have an 8-port Grandstream GXW-4008 V1.2A ATA
converter with analog phones connected to it.
They work fine except for just one "feature" I would
like to modify. Somehow, each time the ATA
re-registers the SIP clients or each time the device
has to be rebooted for maintenance, the phones ring
once. This feature can be useful as it notifies the
user of the re-registration.

Grandstream Busy Light Fields
Hello !
I am having troubles setting up Busy Light Fields (BLF) in asterisk 1.4.18
The things work up to 80%, I can transfer the call by BLF button and I can
see the green (free) status and red (busy) status.
What I cannot do is to accept the call when someone rings a remote
extension. The BLF button starts to blink in red telling me that the call is
ringing on remote extenson, but if I press it,

SSL connection reset by peer
Hi,
I am running a dovecot server and have set up an external monitoring,
where every five minutes a login with SSL on port 993 is done. I usually
get once a day an error "connection reset by peer - SSL connect", which
goes away until the next monitor is executed.
Initially I thought that raising the mail_max_userip_connections in
protocol imap in 20-imap.conf to 256 should do the

IMAP Timeouts
Hi,
from time to time the IMAP login times out ... my external monitoring
says "connection reset by peer (SSL)" and Thunderbird tries to connect
forever. After a short while everything returns back to normal operation.
The system resources are plenty, there are no error messages and no
greedy background tasks running.
I read a little about tweaking imap-login - but all the default

first_valid_uid
Hi,
I have error log entries like
dovecot: lmtp(22155, mail): Error: user mail: Mail access for users with
UID 8 not permitted (see first_valid_uid in config file, uid from userdb
lookup).
This obviously tells me that the user mail (UID 8) is trying to access
the LMTP daemon. How can I find out why he is doing so and how I can get
rid of this error message?
The mail system (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS :

repeater
Hi all there.
I am trying to set up an icecast2 server (wich is already running) to
send some stream mount point to another server. I mean, my server is
streaming at /radio1.mp3 mount point. We can listen it at
http://myserver:8000/radio1.mp3; so, i want to know if is there any
way to "clone" that strem and send it to another server, such as
http://giss.tv:8000/radio1.mp3
Thanks.

Hi Mikhail,
Did you get a chance to fix this. I still get errors while building examples.

Dial multiple device cancellation
Hi,
Can a call to multiple devices be cancelled in all of them at same time?
With next dialplan,
exten => 100,1,Dial(SIP/101&SIP/102)
when a call rings on 101 and 102 and one of them rejects the call "with 486 Busy here", is it possible to reject the call in the other device at same time? I read application dial options but I can't find any that can help me to achieve this

Samba + ACLs: Can’t add group write permissions
Hi there,
I?ve been trying to get my head around a problem I have with Samba.
I?ve set up Samba 3.6.13 on a Raspberry Pi with Arch Linux ARM on it and
let it serve a couple of folders from an attached external ext4 drive
mounted to /srv/cifs (of course with the "acl" option enabled).
I?ve been trying to create a share that is read-writable for all
members of a particular UNIX user
