Virtualization + CPU w/crypto acceleration instructions
In a virtualized environment running Xen or VMware, can the guest operating systems utilize hardware crypto acceleration such as the "PadLock" AES acceleration built into VIA CPUs? (Wasn't able to find this info in any of ~400 Google hits, so I'm shooting it out a bit to let as many as possible benefit from the answer.)

Call to unimplemented function SHELL32.dll.723
Howdy-ho I'm trying to launch explorer.exe to show a Windows desktop. I read somewhere that I should use some native DLLs, so my configuration is the default auto-generated .wine with some native DLLs on top: # cd # cd .wine/drive_c/windows # cp /mnt/windows/windows/explorer.exe . # cp /mnt/windows/windows/system32/{shlwapi,rpcrt4,ole32,oleaut32,shdocvw}.dll ./system/ # # wine explorer.exe

Wine 0.9 - IE - OWA
Hi guys Has anyone have any workarounds with Internet Explorer 6 not displaying the mailbox on Outlook Web Access properly? My specs: Wine 0.9 on FC4, IE6 installed using ies4linux The problems (as I can see): the right-click context menu on the mailbox doesn't work (it doesn't display anything) and the compose email interface is missing the place where you can actually type your mail

err:font:ReadFontDir
I get this when running, well, anything under Wine (including fx. "winecfg"): err:font:ReadFontDir Can't open directory "/usr/local/bin/../lib/../share/wine/fonts/" Where does Wine get the path "/usr/local/share/wine/fonts/" from? What exactly is it supposed to contain (don't just say "fonts" ;-))?

Wine and Audio problem
Hi, I installed wine in order to be able to transfer data from my Polar Heart Rate Monitor to my computer. The program uses sound to transmit data files, which are picked up my the microphone and then the program shows all data, if all goes well. It worked perfectly twice, but then I get sound problems. The problem here, is that the sounds from the HRM are not being picked up by the microphone.

PEAQ(CELT)
Hello, ? I don?t know whether this is the right place to discuss such a question here. I?m sorry. ? I want to evaluate the CELT codec using a known MATLAB implementation of the PEAQ software. If anyone has used this test program he could see that one of the input parameters (3rd one) shifts the frames for both the reference and the under test audio signals. Another parameter (4th one) marks the

Wine & Putty & telnet
Hello, I am new to the list. In fact I have been using 'wine' just for a couple of days. Well I use Linux for many, many years. I have installed Wine ver. 0.9.7 on SuSE 9.3 (rpm) and SuSE 9.0 (compiled from source). Then I tried Putty 0.58. It starts OK. I can get login prompt from any sshd. But I don't get a login prompt when I try to connect to any telnet servers. Putty for Linux

Rather ominous resource consumption figures
Hello, Yesterday I posted about how to email from a worker. I decided to be a bit piggy and just inhale all of rails. Sorted. I am noticing some rather ominous behavior though. The setup: My worker takes an uploaded image as a param and passes it (via system call) to a C++ image processing engine. Take a look at these memory consumption figures for successive runs uploading the identical image
