Softkey config example for Cisco 7941/7961
I found on the web that there is way to customize the softkeys for the 7941/7961 phones. In the SEP<mac>.xml there is a section called "softKeyFile" where you can specify an xml file for the softkeys. I couldn't find any examples of this softkey file or the format to this file. Does anyone have a call manager enviroment where they can look at this file and send me an

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are so obscure. There seems to be a fair amount

Cisco phones and Linksys SRW224P
I'm having problem powering Cisco phone's (7940 and 7905) on Linksys SRW224P switch (with PoE functionality). I have tested three phone's, one is working (7905) and two aren't (7905 and 7940). I have plugged all three phones on same switch port with same cable! Do I need to change anything in phone configuration? Is there something wrong with Linksys switch? How can I troubleshoot

Cisco 7940G licensing with asterisk
Hi there, In Cisco web site http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheet09186a008008884a.html It says that regardless of the technology used you have to buy a licencse. Does the license apply to use the phone with asterisk, or, can i just buy the phone? Also, the phone does not requiere to use an AC adapter if used with PoE injectors/switches. Can non-Cisco PoE

Configure one call per line on Cisco 7941/7961
Anyone aware of how to configure one call per line on a Cisco 7941/7961? The default behaviour is to have two calls per line button, and this is confusing for some of my users so I'd like to be able to have the 2nd call ring the second line button, rather than being shared with the first. I'm hoping this is something that is configurable in the XML or on the phone UI. Thanks Gary

Netgear FS116P and Cisco 79XX phones
I am hoping that someone has had better luck with this than I have. I would like to connect Cisco 7940s and 7960s to the Netgear FS116P, and take advantage of its POE. I know that the Cisco phones use Cisco's "pre-standard" POE implementation, but as I understand it the difference is really only two pins. I bought a bunch of PowerDsine inline power adapters which supposedly change

NEWS: SIP Firmware Available for Cisco 7970
I've just recieved a copy of the new SIP firmware for the Cisco 7970, those of you with Cisco accounts may wish to try it (shock horror I'm sticking with SCCP). This coincides with the release of v8 firmware for all Cisco phones (and for those of you running Sergio's chan_sccp v8 works fine) The firmware is now also (and for the 7970 SIP, only) distributed in ".cop" files,

Cisco 7970 BLF/Presence
I have been trying to get the 7970 (running SIP firmware) to display presence information about other extensions. Thus far, I have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have BLF working on the SIP-loaded 7941/7961/7970/7971? I have been using the following as a guide for my work: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Presence+for+Cisco+79x1+Phones I have successfully implemented every step

Cisco power injector with GXP2000 phones
I've tried to use a Cisco power injector to supply power over Ethernet to a GXP2000 phone without success. Although when I plugged these phone to a PoE capable Cisco Switch it worked without a problem! Knowing that all these three equipments implement IEEE 802.3af protocol, why doesn't it work with the Cisco power injector? Anyone also had this problem before? Thanks, Ricardo Carvalho.

Polycom 501 Phones Rebooting
Hello, At one of our locations, we have started to see Polycom 501s (running 1.6.7 firmware) randomly reboot. We have taken packet traces of the phones to determine if there is something odd in the Layer 2 or 3 of the network that might cause it, and have not seen anything strange. There are no errors on the ports. This appears to be affecting POE powered as well as AC powered phones. The Polycom

cisco poe
I know this is on the wiki, I just want to confirm so I don't blow up my cisco phones. I've got several cisco 7940's all running using cisco power cubes. However, my boss wants me to switch just a few over to poe, but doesn't want to fork out the dough for a nice cisco poe switch, or anybody else's poe switch for that matter. So my question is, what is the '99.999%

D-LINK PoE switch, does it work with cisco or do I need to do the cable trick?
As an alternative to the "expensive" PoE switches out there, I found the D-Link Web Smart DES-1316 switch for just around $400. Now, the issue is, it does 802.3af power and, as I've found out through previous discussions, this original 76?0 series phones (the non G variety) do not use 802.3af. So I'm assuming I just need to use the special cable thing as per

Cisco 7970 + New Firmware (8.2)
Hi All, Found out Cisco has some newer firmware available for the 7970 series of phones. New sip images are at version level 8.2 (instead of 8.0.2,8.0.3,8.0.4), posted Dec 10, 2006. This major jump in version numbers has fixed a few bugs (time zone not updating properly), but hasn't figured what some would consider to be showstoppers (registration not fully working, and mwi still not

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information
I would like to get in contact with users/consultants who are or have worked with the Cisco phones and Asterisk to trade information. Cisco has reluctantly made SIP available on their phones and most of the information on voip-info and other wiki's appears to be reverse engineered. There is a wealth of information out there which is terrific. I have a client with about 40 phones

Cisco 79x1 Auto-Answer
I'm using a mix of Cisco 7960, Linksys SPA-942, Cisco 7961, Cisco 7970 phones in a paging group. I have all the phones set up with an extra line that auto answers the dial from my paging extension when the primary line is not in use. All of these are operating correctly however the 7961/7970s all ring once and then auto answer so the person paging all the phones has the first part of his
