IE and Windows Media Player?
Does IE and Windows Media Player (any version) work with Wine 0.9.10 or the latest CVS version? If so, how to install? I've tried but failed: * With the latest CVS and sidenet-1.9.1, using option "IE6 with WMP6 installation", the IE setup fails with "The download location information is damaged". * With Wine 0.9.10, using the FC4 RPM: The same as above. * If I try

W2003 terminal server profile path error
I've joined a Windows 2003 server to a domain hosted by a Samba 2.2.8 machine. It works fine to log in locally at the console, but not via terminal services. The login screen says: "You do not have access to logon to this session." The Event viewer says: "Failed to load Terminal Server Profile path. Note that the profile path must be less than 256 characters in

If Samba/Winbind doesn't work with 2003SP1 in domain mode, and no fix

EaseReader gives fixme:amstream:IAMMultiMediaStreamImpl_Initialize
Hi. I'm trying to get the EaseReader application (http://www.dolphinaudiopublishing.com/products/EaseReader/) running in Wine. By using the native oleacc, oleaut32 and rpcrt4, it's now actually possible to start the application. The "self voicing" mode also works: The application "speaks", for example when hovering above menu choices. Listening to the actual DAISY

Winbind is DISCONNECTED after restart
I'm experiencing a strange problem on one RHEL4 system with Samba 3.0.20a. After restarting the Samba and Winbind services, the domain connection doesn't work any longer: # wbinfo --sequence HA02 : 1 BUILTIN : 1 CRT : DISCONNECTED Before restarting, I got: # wbinfo --sequence CRT : 254 The strange thing is that if I remove /etc/samba/secrets.tdb before (re)starting Samba, this

net and the PASSWD environment variable
I've noticed that the "net" command supports the PASSWD environment variable, just like smbclient does. However, it's not documented. Does this mean that this variable is deprecated, or can I trust that it will be around tomorrow? winbind forced password change requires interactive shell
We've discovered that although Winbind supports password changes when the account password is expired, this only works with *interactive* shells. This is a major problem for us. Use case 1: SSH tunnels: $ ssh user2@localhost -N -L 4711:localhost:22 user2@localhost's password: <trying to use the tunnel> channel 2: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed As you can

Internet Explorer 6 Setup & A
--- James Hawkins <truiken@gmail.com> wrote: > Please try running ie6setup.exe from your home > directory and report back. An interesting development: Running it from the home directory didn't help, but running it, letting it fail, then running it again works (regardless of location). The installer finishes ok, and places all the files in Program Files/Internet Explorer.

Installing IE6 in wine-0.9.8
Hello everybody, I know there are many HOWTOs out there about installing IE6, but none seem to mention the problem I have. The installation of IE6 doesn't go beyond the window: "Setup was unable to download the required components. Please make sure you are connected to the internet or try to run Setup later again" Trying to set wininet to "native" or "builtin"

Printer settings reset problems
Hi, I am working on a print server project where we have ran into a big showstopper. The print server works in a very mixed environment with clients running for example Linux, Windows NT4, Windows 2000, VMS, different Solaris versions and other Unix dialects. The server runs CUPS for printer spooling and Samba to serve the Windows machines. It's the Windows machines that has caused most

User/Group HWM ignored when converting idmap from tdb to LDAP
Hi! I'm trying to convert my tdb-based idmap mapping to a LDAP-based one. This generally works as intended, with one exception - the highest uidNumber/gidNumber in use is not transferred, and this causes duplicate use of the same uid/gidNumber. Here's what I'm doing: 1) net idmap dump /var/cache/samba/winbindd_idmap.tdb > idmap.dump 2) Set idmap backend in smb.conf to

Internet Explorer 6 Setup & App DB
Hi, some time ago (around 7. May 2006) there was a coment in the App DB to get the setup of Internet Explorer 6 working. The Coment was about removing some dll names from the wine.inf file. The coment was removed from the App DB, but the setup still fails for me with current cvs (~2 hours ago). Therefore i like two know two things: - does anyone remember which lines needs to be removed

Internet Explorer installs under wine as default Win2K but then crashes when run...
I want to run Internet Explorer as Win2K at the very least so I might be able to get updates, trying to keep up with security fixes... this might be a pipe dream? I would rather not run anything as Win98 if I can help it... In any case, what I did was, from a clean install of Wine 0.9 on Fedora Core 4, ran [user@localhost ~]$ wine wine: creating configuration directory
