POE draw on Aastra 480i
Anyone know what the POE draw is for the Aastra 480i phones?
We have switches that will do 15 watts on 12 ports but only do 7.7 watts
on all 24 ports. A Cisco 3560 switch will do 15.6 watts on all 24 ports.
Just trying to find out if we need that much power.
Can't seem to find any info on the Aastra site.

# IP601's with POE per Catalyst 3560G-48PS
Hello people,
I am having difficulties figuring out the POE power draw in
watts from a Polycom IP601. I want to know how many
IP601's can be powered from the Cisco Catalyst 3560G-48PS.
The IP601 wallwart has: Input 120VAC 60hz 19W, Output 24VDC
500mA. I assume the output is appropriate value to figure
out how many phones can be powered.
The Cisco 3560 datasheet says "the 48-port PoE

PoE switch recommendations?
Hey, all. We're rolling out VoIP, and I'm wondering about PoE
recommendations, as we're going to have to replace our current network
equipment. My first inclination would be to just plunk down the cash and
do a Cisco system, but I'm relatively certain that would get shot down by
finance. Any recommendations for a couple-hundred-port solution with
VLANs, PoE, and QoS? Don't

cisco 7940 and auto-answer (aastra 480i vs 7940)
Having scoured the web, I still am no better off ..
I have 2 Aastra480i's , and 120+ cisco 7940's :) . I am trying to decide
which model to use going forward when we purchase more kit. They both
seem much on a par regarding features.
Q1: Is there anyway of making the cisco auto-answer _without_ having to
manually edit the configuration on each phone ? I've been able to get

7 points of comparison Polycom 430/501 and Aastra 480i. Which one to choose ?
I need to provide a 80 people office with VOIP.
I want to commit to one vendor Polycom or Aastra. Price of the phones
is not a factor in the decision. The quality of the phones is the
factor.
Some of the features that I am evaluating on are: (arranged in order
of priority)
1. Sound quality
2. complete product line with conference phone and receptionist phone
(not on Aastra)
3. cordless (not on

Current viewpoints on the Sayson/Aastra 480i
I have read the user reports on the Aastra 480i SIP phones, but the last report is from October, and the advice was to stay away from these units. I was looking at the cisco 79XX series or the SPA-941's, but they don't have backlit displays. I also like POE support so I don't have to run multiple wires to the phones and makes for a neater look. I dislike the looks of the SNOM

Why Aastra uses 48V whereas other IP Phones use much less, i.e. 5-12V
Hi,
Why Aastra phones use more electricity, i.e. 48VDC whereas other phones use
much less, e.g. Grandstream and Linksys both use only 5VDC. I first thought
it was because of PoE, but the ones with 5VDC also run fine on PoE. What is
the difference in power consumption then?

Quiet 24 port POE gig switch
A little off topic but....
I need to put a 24 port Gig PoE switch into a small office - no computer
room / rack etc. All CAT5 terminates near the owners desk (smart huh?).
I want to put a PoE switch in place, with 24 ports and Gig speed. Everyone
I've researched so far is LOUD...
Anyone know of a quiet one?
Thanks

LAN switches with PoE? PoE phones?
Hi all,
I'm looking for recommendations on ethernet switches for a new
install. Ideally would want switches with at least 24 ports,
ideally with a GE uplink, and that support PoE (power over
ethernet) on every port. I've seen lots of switches, and lots of
"power hubs", but the combination, which makes a lot of sense,
seems rare. What is out there? Do the switches need to be

PoE module
Hello;
We have a cisco switches but they are not PoE and we need only to have PoE device so the cables come for it first to provide the power and then goes to the switch (to be like batch panel), is there something like this that can be used for the IP Phones?

cisco poe
I know this is on the wiki, I just want to confirm so I don't blow up my
cisco phones. I've got several cisco 7940's all running using cisco
power cubes. However, my boss wants me to switch just a few over to
poe, but doesn't want to fork out the dough for a nice cisco poe switch,
or anybody else's poe switch for that matter.
So my question is, what is the '99.999%

PoE VOIP phones in Australia
Hi,
Are there any resellers of phones that can take power over ethernet in
Australia? All I can find for sale online is the BT-10[12], which is cheap
but not featureful enough, and the Snom 190, which is about right, but
neither of them support PoE. I'm particularly intereseted in the Snom 220
with the keypad expansion for our receptionist.
Although, could you make a PoE split-out cable

D-LINK PoE switch, does it work with cisco or do I need to do the cable trick?
As an alternative to the "expensive" PoE switches out there, I found the
D-Link Web Smart DES-1316 switch for just around $400. Now, the issue
is, it does 802.3af power and, as I've found out through previous
discussions, this original 76?0 series phones (the non G variety) do not
use 802.3af. So I'm assuming I just need to use the special cable thing

VoIP PoE phones for restaurant
Greetings,
I mailed the list regarding an intercom system some months ago and we
came to the conclusion that I should purchase a Polycom 501 phone.
I'm now considering the purchase for this year, and I'm now wondering
between the Polycom 501 and the 320 for the intercom.
I don't need the spare ethernet on the phone because I would like to
have my voice network separate from my

Cheap PoE switches/injectors?
I'm trying to spec out hardware for a new office, and I'd like to
include power over Ethernet as an option. I've seen a handful of PoE
injectors around $1000 for 24 ports and a couple switches up around
$2500 for 24 ports. Are there any cheaper options, short of buying a
boatload of 1-port injectors off of ebay? I don't really need more
then 24 ports of PoE out of 48 total
