Multiple IP adresses on one interface and ping
Hello,
I assign IP 172.25.0.1 and 172.25.1.1 on one interface of my router. This
interface is connected to local LAN switch. If I ping from my box on lan
with IP 172.25.0.22 I get icmp reply, but if I assig to my box IP
172.25.1.22 I don''t get icmp reply.
My setup:
ip addr add 172.25.0.1/24 brd + dev eth0
ip addr add 172.25.1.1/24 brd + dev eth0

Limit of ip adresses for DomU
Hi @all,
does anyone know how many ip adresses as aliases and vifs may assign
to a single DomU?
At the moment it seems for me that ~ 30 ip adresses are max.
Kong regards

DNS and Reverse Adresses
Hi,
I do have a domain and a couple of different ip networks.
E.g. domainname.de and 172.17.0.0/16 and 192.168.200.0/24
In our old dns files I only have a reverse master zone for the
172.17.-lans, but also 192.168.200.x addresses in the forward zone config.
My question: dose maybe someone forgot the 192.168.200.x reverse zone
files and config and can I just create a file like that for the

Which IP adresses are registered when having mutliple interfaces
Hi!
I'm running Samba 1.9.18p7 on a machine with two interfaces, so I configured:
; multiple interfaces
interfaces =x.y.z.7/255.255.0.0 a.b.c.d/255.255.0.0
; paranoia setting: to be REALLY sure which host name samba uses as NETBIOS name
netbios name = XYZ001
This one has to register with a WINS server on one of the nets, so I configured:
; be a WINS client

New Provider, Multiple Dynamic Adresses.
I am changing provider. The new provider gives out five public dynamic
IP-adresses. Is there anyway to get a Shorewall-box to snag more then
one IP-address, and then proxy-arp? I''m guessing that the answer is
"No", but hey, you never know.
Is there any other way that I could actually use my additional IP''s for
my internal systems, and still use Shorewall for

Possible to have Email-Adresses as logins?
Hi,
we want to set up a samba-server with an ldap-backend (so far no
problem, got this running already) but want the users to login to
workstations using their email-address instead of a "normal"
login-name.
I already figured out that i cannot add unix users with an "@" in
their login neither via "useradd" nor via "smbldap-useradd", so i was
thinking about
