OT but relevant to SMS
I know a lot of people on this list are involved in SMS and my apologies to people outside of the USA but for those of us involved in this space it's been long overdue. Great news today!! Neustar have finally released the long awaited 6 digit Common Short Codes (CSC's) and is now in a position to accept your order to secure the 6 digit shortcode that best reflects your company's

Samba LDAP timeout
Hello, I'm having trouble configuring an Ubuntu Hoary Samba server to use LDAP for authentication (the server is named "dixie"). I'm basing my configuration on another server here at work that connects just fine. When I try to just list samba shares on dixie with $ smbclient -L dixie -U faker It takes quite some time for the request to go through before failing. Looking at the

upload test images using rake with populator
I am wondering if it is possible to upload test images to the database along with the other fake user data. I am using populator along with faker for fake test data and it is working very well. I am able to do things like: User.populate 100 do |user| user.username = Faker::Name.first_name user.email = Faker::Internet.email end but I am wondering if theres a way to do

ssh: case insensitive fingerprint validation
Hello! I noticed the ssh client now allows you to paste a fingerprint at the host key verification question which I thought was pretty cool and a welcome feature. When testing it out I discovered it did not care about the case of the entered hash, and looking at sshconnect.c I see strcasecmp() is used which explains why. I'm just curious if this was a deliberate decision or if it would make

[INFO] SMS Aggregators
Awhile ago, I posted some information about SMS Aggregators, this is just a follow-up, based on changes in the US market. As of January 31st, any commercial application, sending to US networks, is required to lease a CSC (short code) from CTIA. A CSC runs $6000/year for a random code, and $12,000/year for a vanity code. These charges are on top of the normal per message fees. This does

Matching username in ssh_config
Hi all openssh devs out there. I have quite a few Host-stanzas in my .ssh/config to keep track of all the different settings and credentials needed to access all different hosts I connect to. Now I have ran in to a problem where I need to switch settings based on what user I'm trying to login to a host as. A simple case is: ssh -i rootkey root at host123 vs. ssh -i userkey username at

mailbox_list_index, stops showing new mails in mailboxes
Hello. I'm having some weird problem with (probably) mailbox_list_index, that it doesn't see new mail in mailboxes. I'm using 2.2.4 over imap and ssh/imap, and after a while dovecot stops noticing new mail in some folders. Its always the same 2-3 folders of about 30. I read something about list-index corruption in 2.2.2, and i thought it was that i was running into earlier, but this

Using Samba 2.2.8a with Microsoft Cluster Services
Hello all- First time posting to group in 3.5 years of using Samba ;) I have a particularily odd problem that the folks over at sql-server-performance.com forums have never seen nor heard of... I am setting up an W2kAS/SQL2k active/passive cluster using Cluster Services. The MSCS requires a common domain login for installing and configuring MSCS which I have setup on my Samba 2.2.8a PDC

Best way to populate development database
What would be the best way to populate a development database for a Rails 3 app? I have looked at faker, but it seems that development has stopped, any other options? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. How do I deal with ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: Validation failed:
Hello all, I am currently writing model tests in rails 4. I am attempting to add an error to a reservation object if the total number of reservations for a given date and time has reached a pre-determined limit. When my test runs, it is hitting the appropriate code but it is raising the following error as opposed to just giving me an error in the object that I can use.

Dovecot as caching proxy
Hi. I'm bin playing around with dovecot to try to setup it as a caching imap proxy. I manged to get dovecot to use both proxy=y and imapc: connections to the master server, but i haven't manged to get dovecot to cache any mails. The remote imap server is a quite hostile one, that i don't have any super/master user access to, and it only exposes imap. I've used tried both with

Bootstrap 3.1.1 is showing as BS 2...
I should first mention that I'm new to rails, but I updated to Ubuntu 14 today and I cloned my latest project from Github after installation. Everything seems to be working just as my last push, however my project is styled with Bootstrap 2... *but it should be 3.1.1.* I am not using the direct files in the stylesheets folder, instead I created my own custom.css.scss and did @import

What is the universal (world wide) understanding behind degaussing harddisks?
Good evening from Singapore! The foremost question which I want to ask is, what is the universal (world wide) understanding behind degaussing hard drives? I work for No Secrets Agency (NSA) Pte Ltd (fictitious company name used).
