On Topic: Cheapest Asterisk USB Key? (was: Re: Off Topic: Open Source USB Softphone)
Here's a flipside of this subject: what is the absolute cheapest Linux device that can be connected to a PC's USB port? That has just enough power for a minimal Asterisk server running on it. The Asterisk just maintains a CDR database on its Flash memory, which it periodically submits over the PC's network connection with an HTTP hit on a remote full-service Asterisk server? No call

ext3 / ext4 on USB flash drive?
I think this is really an attempt at user feedback, rather than user discussion. But there's no such thing as a user-feedback mail list. Nevertheless, others may find this pertinent: why doesn't mke2fs handle USB's competently? And if it does, why doesn't it reassure me so? And how can I handle a linux-formatted USB flash drive in the absence of my system giving me any guidance?

Cox Proportional Hazard with missing covariate data
Dear friends, I have used R for some time now and have a tricky question about the coxph-function: To sum it up, I am not sure whether I can use coxph in conjunction with missing covariate data in a model with time-variant covariates. The point is: I know how "old" every piece that I oberserve is, but do not have fully historical information about the corresponding covariates. Maybe you

names function for environments?
Hi all, The "ls" function wears two hats. It allows users to inspect an environment interactively and also serves deeper in code as the accessor for an environment's names/keys. I propose that we separate these two conflicting goals, keeping ls for interactive use and adding names for a quick listing of the hash keys. This involves adding two lines to do_names in attrib.c. The

"Cheapest" way to determine channels in a group from outside asterisk?
I need to determine the number of active calls in a group from outside of Asterisk. Currently I poll the manager API and parse the channel status list but this is becoming too expensive on CPU. What are my options? What is considered "standard practice" ? Update a DB field? Poll the manager api? Use an asterisk -rv 'some command' call?

Cheapest price to cuba route !!!
Here's a little story on all the cheap guys trying to get the best rate on any route out there ( lcr and others). Anyone have 0.000001 to Mexico billed 1/1 ????? " When customers call us to ask if we sell Cuba termination for 50c/min, I sometimes joke and tell them "sure, I'll give you Cuba for 1c/min, but it will have 0% ASR". Or some other times, I

OT - lowest power, cheapest python interpreter
I recommend the Cubieboards or Linkspirt. The advantage of both of these over a RaspberryPI: Mainline kernel. See what it takes for a special RPi kernel over on the Centos-arm list. Sata interface. What are you going to run your stuff on? A slow SD card or a slow USB drive? See my install howto over at: http://www.htt-consult.com/Centos7-armv7.html And in fact, I have a LinkSprite

cheapest virtualizable Quadro
Hi all, I am running a VNC terminal server on a virtualized host, and I would like to add OpenGL support using VirtualGL, which relies on HW accelerated rendering on the server side. Since in my case the server is a domU, I need VGA Passthru for this. Therefore, I need a graphics card that supports virtualization. I am aware that the NVIdia Quadro FX 3800 card (and up) are guaranteed to work,

COX PH models for event histories?
This is a question about the use of the Cox proportional hazards model to analyze event histories. I am looking at the responses of sympathetic nervous system activity to a stimulus. The activity I observe is a burst that can only occur once per heart beat cycle (e.g., a binary count). Typically bursts occur in 60-80% of the heart cycles * sensory stimuli can modify these burst probabilities.

Re: ext3 / ext4 on USB flash drive?
Agh. This is great to have some of this clarified, Ted. It does unfortunately reinorce my cynicism. But it also fills my heart. That is, though it might be bad news to hear that I have most likely bought a piece of crap, and that there's no way I can really tell what's inside the cover unless either I do some kind of low-level alchemy of a kind that mere users would normally be well
