What's the best ztdummy?
I have several servers using ztdummy as the timing source, some CentOS 4.x, some CentOS 5.x, some Asterisk 1.2.x, some Asterisk 1.4.x. "zap show status" differs between the servers: ZTDUMMY/1 (source: Linux26) 1 UNCONFIGUR 0 0 0 ZTDUMMY/1 (source: RTC) 1 UNCONFIGUR 0 0 0 ZTDUMMY/1 1 UNCONFIGUR 0

Asterisk 1.4 problem with ztdummy and MeetMe()
Hi, when I build zaptel-1.2 and asterisk-1.2 I can modprobe ztdummy and start asterisk to be able to use MeetMe(). When I build zaptel-1.4 and asterisk-1.4 I can modprobe ztdummy and start asterisk but I am not able to use MeetMe(). What do I miss? FW: zaptel 1.4.0 on Fedora Core 6 x86_64
I tried to test Asterisk 1.4 on FC6 x86_64. I have it working on FC5 x86_64 very good, but since FC keeps updating, I tried to follow newer kernel versions. I can't pass the zaptel compilation. Everything is OK, but when I finished, and tried to load it, allways got module not found when I run modprobe zaptel, and modprobe ztdummy. I already tried to modify is with the sed 1 option but

ZtDummy vs Hardware
I was wondering what could be pros and cons of ztdummy vs proper timer device (i.e. X100P). I am going to set up an asterisk server in europe (to do trunking, to save bandwith) and I was wondering if it'll be OK to get it going with ztdummy. Furthermore, I have only a 1024/256kbps PPPOE DSL link and I need to squeeze 12 channels through, I was wondering which codec would be suitable

ztdummy issues on new asterisk install
Hello list I'm having some trouble getting * to recognize ztdummy on a new install (Fedora Core 3). I installed the module, and it shows up when I do an 'lsmod': Module Size Used by ztdummy 3796 0 zaptel 206852 1 ztdummy crc_ccitt 2113 1 zaptel I did 'service start zaptel' and everything appears cool.

ztdummy does not load properly at server startup
Hi I run asterisk 1.4.2 with zaptel 1.4.1. Zaptel is only needed for the ztdummy driver to get the Meetme() application to work. I don't have any specific hardware. And it does work nicely. When I reboot the machine however I have to manually load the driver like this: [root@vink ~]# modprobe ztdummy Notice: Configuration file is /etc/zaptel.conf line 0: Unable to open master device

Ztdummy - is it requirement?
I am interested to learn if I need to have ztdummy installed if I do not have any zaptel hardware in my machine? I have found a lot of references with RTP problems which were related to RTP timing (or lack of it). My problem is that voice coming from SIP hardware is OK, but voice going from asterisk to SIP hardware is choppy, full of noise or completely cut-off. Am I going to solve my problem

Zaptel/DAHDI ztdummy only
Let me know if I should post this on the asterisk-dev list instead. I am building a Linux-Vserver (http://www.linux-vserver.org) host system that will have several guests running Asterisk. Since the guests can't load kernel modules or do other dangerous stuff, but can access them I built zaptel 1.4 and it is now loaded by the host. The issue I see is there will be no "Zaptel"

can't enable trunking :(
I have successfully installed and configured the asterisk, the incoming and the outgoing calls are working fine, its a tremendous solution :) Now i want to enable trunking between two asterisk boxes, in the iax.conf i have put: [karachi] ... ... ... trunk=yes ... ... ... everything seems to work fine but when i load asterisk it says: -------------- Feb 17 10:59:14 WARNING[18726]:

Ztdummy or Zaptel card on production server
Hi there I am currently using Asterisk with Meetme on a 2.4 linux kernel. I am using Ztdummy with usb-uhci driver for timing. It seems to work ok, although I haven't tried it with more than 5 users. However, I am now looking to move into a production environment and some people have said that it is better to have a Zaptel card. I would be installing Asterisk on a 2.6 linux kernel for the

asterisk 1.4.10 on linux kernel 2.6 needs timing device for trunking
I understood that a timing device (ztdummy if no zaptel hardware is present) was not necessary anymore with linux kernel 2.6. When I enable iax2 trunking I get this warning chan_iax2.c:8908 build_user: Unable to support trunking on user 'xxxxxx' without zaptel timing The linux kernel is 2.6.22-14-386 Can I ignore this message, and is trunking working despite this warning? ztdummy running, but moh & meetme don't work
Any thoughts on the following? I am running asterisk from CVS (downloaded yesterday's version, just to be sure) on a test system with no digium cards in it, so I have installed ztdummy (see logs and screenshots below) as a timing source. When I call the music on hold extension from a Sipura Sip connected analog phone, I hear nothing and start getting Warning[98310]: chan_sip.c:674

audio disappeared after ztdummy install
All too common and largely undocumented. I had this same problem. Installing ztdummy changes Asterisk to use it for timing of playback, apparently. Removing ztdummy "fixed" the problem. To get it all to work, I had to upgrade to to at least kernel 2.6.23.11 (previous versions are either missing options are just broken.) After doing this, I recompiled ztdummy and it worked. Note

Ztdummy usage
Dear All, I have installed Asterisk everything is OK until I tried to configure meeting room, configuration was simple enough when I try I get a message that it's not a valid meeting room, Now I don't have a Zaptel device on my machine, so I found that you will have to use ztdummy to make a dummy zaptel device on your machine and this is because of timing issues. My question is ztdummy

ztdummy compile under 2.6.28 ?
It looks like something has changed in the HPET kernel code in 2.6.28 (maybe .27 too) that's stopped ztdummy.c compiling (in 1.2 and 1.4 versions of zapata) A kernel structure member has been renamed with some crypic comments in the lkml about it. Anyone know the right thing to do - I'm not up on the linux kernel guts, nor how ztdummy might interact with it, so simply renaming the

ztdummy
The USB core was completely rewritten in 2.6, and as such the functions that ztdummy depends on do not exist in 2.6. I get the feeling that these changes are too much to easily fix ztdummy, so I don't expect to see it working on 2.6 any time soon (if ever) I made some small changes to zaprtc to work on 2.6 and I have MoH and Meetme functions working fine in my lab. For production I would
