How can I use my regular phones with Asterisk running on my Linksys WRT54G router?
Ok, I've done some more research and I don't think I want an FXO box...
What I'd like to do is use BroadVoice (with their BYOD plan) and then
run Asterisk on my WRT54G router. I'd also like to use my regular home
phones without having to use a special "SIP" phone... (eg. I like my
Vtech normal cordless phones)
What do I need to buy to get this working? It sounds like I

Easiest (best?) linux distribution for dedicated Asterisk box?
First off, I'm sorry for sending so many messages to the list-serv.
Hopefully this will be my last for a while!
I was going to use my WRT54G router as a small Asterisk box, but I
forgot that I had a spare eMachines computer (Intel Celeron 633 MHz,
20GB HD, 64mb RAM). Will this machine work OK for a very simple
dedicated home Asterisk box?
Also, what is easiest linux distribution to use and

Help! - Double NAT issue
Hi folks.
Please don't flame me but I've been googling around for days, read a
tremendous amount, tried everything, and still no go.
This is most definitely a typical newbie question. - I sure hope there's
somebody(s) out there who'll humble themselves to help me out.
I've set up an 'out of the box' basic Asterisk server running on Slackware
Linux. - It basically

Testers needed for VoIP router solution
Hi all,
We have put together a firmware for a range of inexpensive routers.
It has been configured to provide optimum VoIP performance.
We have internally tested it for number of months and it looks very good.
You should be able to run it easily with 20+ phones on local network ( we
still did not hit the upper limit ) assuming that you have bandwidth.
Your VoIP will get prioritized over other

Incoming Call Problem
Hello All,
I would be grateful for some help with this issue. I have gotten Asterisk
to work with Broadvoice on outgoing calls only. When I try to call my
Broadvoice number from another location I get a caller is busy message. My
Asterisk box is behind a Linksys WRT54G. Could this be the problem? On the
Linksys, I have port 5060 forwarded to the asterisk box 192.168.1.2. I have

looking for input on broadband router with QoS and VPN support
Hi,
We're installing an * box next week (pbxtra from fonality) and I'm
trying to come up with a solution for remote users that want a phone in
their home. I need VPN and QoS capability, wireless support would be a
nice to have. Ethernet handoff is fine, i don't need integrated dsl or
cable modem...
I've been googling and cruising the list and can find bits and pieces

Re: Can I enter an extension to dial whilevoicemail is playing?
The options are not seperated by commas.
exten => s,1,Dial(SIP/50,23,r,d)
should be
exten => s,1,Dial(SIP/50,23,rd)

Sveasoft Alchemy QOS
I just bought two new Linksys WRT54G routers. Sveasoft has loaded Linux on
this router and included a bunch of Linux tools, one of which is Bandwidth
Management. The QoS aspect of this is supposed to be much more granular
than the previous solution (Wonder Shaper).
I have not been able to find any suggestions for how to impliment QoS
(Bandwidth Management) using the web interface of Alchemy.

[Bridge] Non-forwarding bridge
Is it possible to set up a non-forwarding bridge? I have two interfaces
that I'd like to combine, where one is a fast main link and the other is
a slower backup. I'd like traffic to go out the fast link only, if it is
available, and failover to the backup if it is not available. I never
want to forward packets between the interfaces.
My specific setup is a laptop with a 100M ethernet and

Double NAT issues with SIP and workaround (?)

I've been fighting one-way-audio issues with asterisk and SIP
extensions for some time..., and I want to share with you my findings
;)
My setup:
* 1 ADSL router (Zyxel)
* 1 Asterisk box with private IP, and interesting ports forwarded to it.
* Several extensions, some local some remote
The problem:
* External extensions behind double nat don't get audio when they

Will 200KB/s drive access be OK for voicemailstorage?
Its slow :) It will give you some delays but it will not be noticeable
(most voice files are 5-100kb, so it should be ok... But writing to
them.. Not sure.. It should be ok as well I'm guessing as kernel will
provide some caching (since you have G and not GS it has less ram, so
maybe chaching is not an option)
Best would be to get WL-500G. It has a USB port so you can plug a USB
memory stick
