voice quality of Aastra 480i CT and cordless
Hi Folks,
Looking for feedback on the cordless phones with the Aastra 480i CT handset. Is voice quality comparable to standard consumer residential 2.4GHz cordless phones in the US$30 - $50 price range, or better/worse?
How about handset and speakerphone quality for the main phone?
Seems like there have been various big issues with firmware in past, but is it pretty stable now?
Thanks,

Aastra 480i CT - No Incoming Calls
I just bought an Aastra 480i CT for a client who needed cordless
capabilities in their office. I'm trying to set up the base station and
cordless handset in my office first. I'm able to connect the phone to
my Asterisk box and make outgoing calls from either the base station or
the handset - to extensions within my office as well as numbers outside
the network. But I can't

Aastra 480i CT
Are the cordless phones on the 480i CT from Aastra registered independently in Asterisk? Such that if I have 5 of the cordless phones hooked up, each one is it's own "extension?"

A little OT but need an opinion on Aastra 57i CT
Hello All,
I have a need for a wireless solution and have been looking at the
Aastra 57i CT phone that have the wireless handset with them. Aastra
says they will cover "up to 300,000 square feet".
I am finding this hard to accept. I was also wondering about the
"secure WDCT cordless technology" Could this be a form of DECT?
Any one using these that can shed some lite?

HardPhone Dilemma
I have a dilemma. I am trying to setup an asterisk setup for about 10
people, but with the ability to expand to 100s. We are looking into
hardphones to use for our systems. Here are the requirments I am looking
for:
SIP
Not POE
Full duplex Speakerphone
$100-$300
We would like to have the cordless and corded option if possible (at least
for 3 of the 10 people). So here are the

Use DECT GAP handsets with Snom M3 base?
Anyone have practical experience using inexpensive GAP-compliant DECT
handsets with the Snom M3 basestation?
When I asked Snom support, the answer was that 'basic functionality
should work', but they didn't elaborate. I'm _guessing_ that means
registering/unregistering with the base, making calls, and receiving
calls (including presenting caller ID). They also stated that they

Cordless SIP Phones
Can anyone recommend a good cordless user-configurable SIP hardphone that is
readily available in the states and doesn't cost $300? There seem to be a
plethora of decent and affordable corded phones (like from Grandstream) but
the search for a cordless unit seems elusive. I purchased a vtech 8100
online only to discover after receiving it that it is locked to vonage
service.
Thank you.

Current viewpoints on the Sayson/Aastra 480i
I have read the user reports on the Aastra 480i SIP phones, but the last report is from October, and the advice was to stay away from these units. I was looking at the cisco 79XX series or the SPA-941's, but they don't have backlit displays. I also like POE support so I don't have to run multiple wires to the phones and makes for a neater look. I dislike the looks of the SNOM

SPA-941 (and others ) Transmit Sound Quality
Hello,
This is not exactly an Asterisk question, but I was encouraged to seek
advice here anyway. The kindness of the * open source community is
legendary :)
I am getting going with an Asterisk 1.2 box, and I'm having trouble
getting good quality transmit sound using handsets with VoIP phones. I'm
primarily trying to focus on SPA-941, but also experimenting with Aastra

Digium S101i - Adapter DTMF works perfeclty
Does anybody know what DTMF coding does S101i adapter using?
I've been testing one for over a week and here are my observations:
- DTMF signaling is working perfectly with Asterisk, much better than
Sipura 3K
Though, I think the Asterisk "iaxy" firmware is buggy, the unit is using
auto-update feature; so I have Asterisk 1.2.13 and iaxy firmware version

7 points of comparison Polycom 430/501 and Aastra 480i. Which one to choose ?
I need to provide a 80 people office with VOIP.
I want to commit to one vendor Polycom or Aastra. Price of the phones
is not a factor in the decision. The quality of the phones is the
factor.
Some of the features that I am evaluating on are: (arranged in order
of priority)
1. Sound quality
2. complete product line with conference phone and receptionist phone
(not on Aastra)
3. cordless (not on

DECT SIP phones
Hi folks:
I know it's come up a few times before, but I need some more detail.
I'm looking for a SIP DECT (cordless) phone for North American
installations. I've heard only of the Siemens Gigaset S450/C450 phones.
Apparently these aren't sold for use in NAm, even though they're
supposed to be legal (in the United States, anyway).
On top of that, I understand they have some

USB Cordless
Does anyone know if X-Ten or SJPhone support multiple cordless handsets for multiple lines? I have an office with multiple roaming users(nurses) that are in and out. I'd like to provide them telephones, and my idea is to have a PC sitting in a corner somewhere running a softphone client. When a nurse comes in she just picks up any available handset(anywhere from 2-5 per office) and starts

Siemens S685IP registration problems
Hi folks,
I wonder if any of you out there are using Siemens S685IP base station(s) (with S68H handsets) on Asterisk and experiencing problems with SIP registrations where the SIP extensions do not ring and peers become unreachable after a period of time.
Symptoms are rather sporadic, but as described, SIP extensions being unreachable from Asterisk perspective. Also experienced 'not

Cisco SPA3102 Thoughts & Other Recommendations
I'm looking to build a VoIP solution for 100+ service vehicles that have
WiFi hot spots installed (with cellular uplinks). Currently we are
trying out Skype wireless handselts and Majick Jack. I'd also like to
consider an Open Source solution that can bring the calls back to our
data center [possibly integrated without our existing BCM 3.x VoIP
PBX].

Which SIP phones to buy?
I need to buy some new phones for our own offices.
I've used only Polycom phones until now, but I'd like to broaden my
experience.
I'm trying to decide which phones to experiment with. I have these options:
- A combination of Polycom, Aastra and Snom
- Just Polycom
One the one hand, I'd like to keep things uniform, since it greatly
simplifies provisioning. On the other hand, I

Chan_capi on builds 7955>8320 strangeness
Hello All,
I am having an odd problem with Armin's chan-capi_cm on builds higher
than 7955.
It would seem that this happens on anything higher than 7955.
What is happening is the isdn is ringing, then asterisk does a goto-if
and just hangs.
Asterisk itself is ok, but the isdn then rings out or busys out on the
other side.
Outgoing works fine, this only seems to effect incoming.

What business IP phone to use
I have been struggling with this issue for about a year now. There were
just too many IP phones to choose from at all sorts of price points and not
enough information about any of them. Now I am looking at the situation
again and if anything it has gotten worse. There are even more phones and
all sorts of opinions. For every person that says phone x is great there is
someone else complaining
