Re: [Astlinux-users] British English Female files ready for download
Mark,
While these samples are pretty good they do not work "out of the box" -
there are a couple of issues:
1. the samples are 44100 samples/second and Asterisk needs them to
be at 8000 samples/second. This is what happens if you prune out all of
the Amercian voicemail prompts and substitute yours:
Asterisk 1.2.7, Copyright (C) 1999 - 2006 Digium, Inc. and others.

Alison Keenan (free British English voice)
Hi Folks,
I have a few folks whom are interested in another recording session with
Alison Keenan but don't have enough work to justify her visit to the
studio.
If there's anyone whom would like her to do some work but hasn't got
around to it yet now might be the time. We need enough work to fill an
hour of her time. So far we have about 25 minutes.
Le me know off list.
Thanks

Bug [1.1rc5]: Crash during "CPU architecture changed" index upgrade
Hello List,
We just migrated from a PPC Xserve to an Intel Xserve.
I used "rsync" to bring everyone's home directories over, and in the
back of my mind wondered about how it would handle the binary index
files... only one way to find out! :)
Once I tried to login to IMAP, I got the following results:

Upgrade 1.2 -> 1.4 voice files
Hi All,
I'm going to be upgrading our 1.2 Asterisk system. At the moment we use
the Enicomms SLN files. Are there major differences in the 1.4 default
voicefile packs, or will I be able to re-use Enicomms??
In the Make menuselect, I noticed theres no .SLN voicefile selection for
the basic audiofiles - has SLN been depreciated?
Thanks

Replacement for Allison
Hi,
Does anyone know what I need to do to get these:
http://www.enicomms.com/cutglassivr/
Sounds files to work? I've tried loading them, but they are completely
silent (format mis-match maybe?). Specifically, when I try to enter
voicemail, nothing plays... though it clearly tries.
I'm looking for replacement sound files for the default Allison, as I feel
she is kind of breathy. I have

Samba vs. Windows
All,
We have a fairly vanilla Samba configuration that recently replaced a Windows 2003 server and among other things, serves large (>64 MB) files. Permissions are all 777.
When running an application attempting to do a single read of these files from a share, we discovered that they were not being served properly. We also found that copying them to the local drive or changing the ownership

[LLVMdev] Compiler Centric Career Opportunities in finance
Hi --
I'm working with a number of finance companies in New York City and Chicago which are looking to develop languages and platforms in order to process extremely large datasets. As such, we are looking for people with experience and / or interest in programming language and compiler design -- hence my posting on the LLVM mailing list.

Skipping problems on outgoing calls (using uLaw with an internal * server through Voxee)
Hello all,
I am using a headset and the X-lite softphone (sometimes I use IAXComm,
but I'm having difficulties using OSS emulation with it) to connect via
uLaw to my internal Asterisk server, which is a Pentium II 400 with 128
megs of RAM. After getting this headset, most or all of the echo people
on the other line were complaining about is now gone, according to them.
However, every

A/V sync strategies
I tried to encode some video from a DVD with encoder_example and
ffmpeg2theora, and it looked great, except that with both encoders the
A/V sync would drift noticeably after about 10 minutes, and by the end
of a two hour movie it would be a couple seconds off. So instead of just
whining about this and waiting for someone else to fix it, I decided to
try to learn about what's causing the

Network configuration question
Hi,
My wife and I live in a two-storey flat, and we have a small home LAN
(100% CentOS 5) with a "classical" configuration:
On the ground floor, there is the telephone jack with the DSL modem
router (192.168.1.254). This modem has a mini-switch with two Ethernet
jacks to it, and the two are used by:
- the server (192.168.1.1), a "black box" running in a cupboard 24/7

Buffering Problems
I'm trying to set up a web based radio station, not having any problems
getting things working, however I'm having a major problem with buffering on
the remote clients. Winamp almost constantly buffers when i'm listening on
my 2.5Mbit DSL connection. With shoutcast it is not a problem (though I
can't use stream-db with it).
Here's the setup:
