indications & SIP
Apologies if this is an old question; I've searched the list and the wiki but have not been able to find a definitive answer. I have an Aastra 480i phone registered with * 1.2.4; I want to generate UK ringback tones when the handset dials another internal extension. On my Zap channels, I have this in place by editing /etc/zaptel.conf; however I've had no luck with the Sip handset (I have

smsq, Zaptel in UK
Hi all, I've been trying to get SMS operational on my Asterisk box, which has a TDM400P card with a pair of FXO interfaces configured (ZAP/1 & ZAP/2). I've not had luck with either of my lines, after issuing the command "smsq --motx-channel=ZAP/1/1709400X 00000 register". I see the following output in my Asterisk console: -- Attempting call on ZAP/1/17094009 for

DTMF digits lost on TDM400 card
I've been having ongoing problems with my TDM400 FXS ports occasionally not picking up all digits dialled from my analogue handsets. There appears to be no set pattern to it, although number 1 seems to be slightly more frequently missed than other numbers. I've played around with RX Gain settings and used ztmonitor to arrange the input signal between 50 and 75% of the maximum value

Zaptel compilation problem on SUSE
I'm trying to install * 1.2.5 for the first time on SUSE 10, 64bit (I've previously used Fedora or Centos). After I installed the kernel sources and followed some instructions on Novell's web site to copy the Module.symvers.gz file across from /boot and do a make modules_prepare, I was successfully able to complete 'make linux26' in my /usr/src/zaptel folder. I'm still

R performance: different CPUs
Hello! I need to purchase a new box, which I would like to optimize for good R performance. For the record, I will run Fedora Core 5 as and OS, and I wanted to know if anyone has experience with how the following affects R performance: - Is there a big advantage to having a 64-bit CPU over having a 32-bit? - Does an Opteron offer any advantages over an Athlon, and if yes, does it justify an

Network frozen in Centos 5 with Xen
Hello, I have this problem - I have installation of Xen and Centos 5 (all RPMs are from Centos repositories). I have several DomU virtual machines running on this machine. When I try to copy some bigger amount of data from another physical computer to Dom0/DomU on this machine, the network freezes. The link is still up, I can see that the connection really links on the switch, but nothing is

Asterisk on Solaris 10 (AMD Opteron, Sun Fire X2100)
Hello, world! I'm considering running Asterisk 1.2.4 on Solaris 10 on a Sun Fire X2100 server or two (Opteron CPU, nForce 4 chipset), and apparently this works. I've read that the Zaptel package won't work on anything other than Linux, since it's intended to hook into the Linux kernel in the form of a kernel module. This concerns me, since I've read that ztdummy, the

Opteron 850''s needing a home
Hello to all, I''ve lucked onto a case of Opteron 850''s and hope to try some 4 way and 8 way systems with Xen. Can someone recommend a good 8x or even 4x socket 940 board that will be condusive to a good experience with Xen? This will be only for Paravirtualized guests (3.0.4). My hope is to play more with Xen''s credit scheduler and try some of the arch mixing

slow file creation
Hi all, I'm troubleshooting an ocfs2 performance problem where creating files in a directory containing ~180k files is taking significant time to complete. Sometimes creating an empty file will take >100 seconds to complete. This is a three node cluster. I'm currently running OCFS2 1.2.3-1. Are there any changes in a recent version that may address this issue? What should I look

U320 PCI-X SCSI HBA experiences on x86_64
Does anyone have any good or bad driver/performance/stability experiences with either: LSI Logic LSIU320 Adaptec 29320ALP-R or (or other current boards using the same driver) in Opteron servers running RHEL 4 or CentOS 4, x86_64? Thanks in advance. -- Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what happened

0.99.10.x auth memory leak?
Hello, running 0.99.10.6 (but seen it before that, too). Also (quite obviously) running 5 auth processes, given the fact that this is a pretty busy box and I didn't want to introduce any artificial bottlenecks. Alas with them eating up half of the free memory (which would go to a much better use as FS cache) I'm getting sorta concerned. If it's not a leak, it's caching something

which server to buy?
Hello! Please, help me, I''m totally lost choosing basic budget server for XEN. The variants are Sun (X2200 M2 or Sun X2250 M2) or maybe HP Proliant DL160 G5p. Or maybe some IBM server? Which X2200 configuration will perform better, two Opteron dual-core 22xx or single quad-core 23xx? Which one performing better nowadays, Opteron or Xeon? I know that 2-3 years ago Opteron was the

lustre+samba
Dear All, I try to use our cluster though samba share. Everything work fine, but I think, we should have -o flock at lustre mount time. Great, it''s work. echo problem
I have searched for how to locate echo cancelation on SIP clients, but cant find anything and echocancel=y doesnt seem to have any effect. Configuration: CVS-HEAD from last month iPAQ h5500 with SJPhone (gsm/ulaw/alaw) Problem description: When I place or receive a call I hear a faint delayed echo of myself. The other party hears a really bad nonmuted echo that makes the call unusable. Aside

Problems with Lapack's eigen() on 64-bit
I'm only now realizing that we have severe problems with R on our AMD 'Opteron' and 'Athlon64' clients running Redhat Enterprise with all 64-bit libraries (AFAICS). The Lapack problem happens for R-patched and R-devel both on the Opteron and the Athlon64. Here are platform details: o "gcc -v" and "g77 -v" both end with the line gcc version 3.2.3

Opteron in 32-bit mode
I'm spec-ing a development server for some Haskell hackers. In particular, they need to be able to build and run the Glasgow Haskell Compiler (ghc), the x86_64 port of which isn't quite there yet. My current thought is to get an Opteron-based system, but load it (initially, at least) with the 32-bit i386 version of CentOS. That buys me near-term ghc compatibility. In the future,

SuperMicro X7DBE with CentOS4?
I am planning to build a server based on the SuperMicro X7DBE+-O motherboard. This server will have two dual-core Xeon processors and a 3ware 9550SX raid card. Has anyone built a server based on this motherboard? Are there any issues with the smp/dual-core support in CentOS4 that might cause problems? I appreciate any input. I'm just looking to find out about any possible problems before

Dual Opteron or Dual Xeon?
I am about to lease another server to be a backup web/mail server with a replicated mysql database. The current live server is a dual Xeon 2.8Ghz. Would I do better to get another Xeon server or an Opteron based server? My concerns are compatibility of the database and the SSL certificate currently running on the Xeon machine. Are these concerns unfounded? TIA Mike

R on Linux/Opteron?
Dear R-help: Has anyone tried using R on the the AMD Opteron in either 64- or 32-bit mode? If so, any good/bad experiences, comments, etc? We are considering getting this hardware, and would like to know if R can run smoothly on such a beast. Any comment much appreciated.
