Statistical question about logistic regression simulation
Hi R help list I'm simulating logistic regression data with a specified odds ratio (beta) and have a problem/unexpected behaviour that occurs. The datasets includes a lognormal exposure and diseased and healthy subjects. Here is my loop: ors <- vector() for(i in 1:200){ # First, I create a vector with a lognormally distributed exposure: n <- 10000 # number of study subjects

how to best present concentrated data points/ ggplot2
Hi all, I am trying to plot a weighted density plot for two different types and want to show the data points on the x axis. The code is as follows. The data points are very concentrated. Is there a better way to present it( should I set the alpha value or something else)? Thanks! YL library(ggplot2) x <- rnorm(10000) a <- rnorm(5000) b <- rnorm(5000) weights.x <- abs(a/sum(a))

cAos/CentOS Users in Boston/New England area
I'm still looking for any volunteers in the Boston or New England areas that would be willing to help out at LinuxWorld in February. It goes Feb 14th - 17th, but the expo part is only 15th - 17th. If you can't come all three days, that's fine, but I would appreciate if there were a couple people that could come at least a day or two. Also, If you help out you get a 3 day pass to the

Pickup command
I am having a bit of a problem implementing the pickup command in my dial plan. I have setup this rule: exten => _*8XXX,1,Pickup(${EXTEN:2}) This works as expected when someone dials an extensions number and I can get the call. The problem I have is that when a call enters my welcome menu and does not press anything there is a timeout that sends them to the recepcionist. The rule is:

High-Availability shorewall
Hi all! I think I remember there have discussion on this topic on this mailinglist a while ago. But the archives don''t find anything. Did anyone here set up a configuration with shorewall and heartbeat or vrrpd or ucarp? What would you prefer? Any experiences with failover times, setup problems etc? Good documentation on this? Thanks, Christian -- you don''t need eyes to see

Feedback from VON expo! Info on * HA and Polycomphone!!
I know someone who's at VON this week. Apparently Mark Spencer was up there talking about how Asterisk supports SRV. Sounds like vaporware to me. > -----Original Message----- > From: David Thomas [mailto:punknow@gmail.com] > Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2006 11:54 AM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Feedback from VON

trouble using optim for maximalisation of 2-parameter function
Hello, I am having trouble using "optim". I want to maximalise a function to its parameters [kind of like: univariate maximum likelihood estimation, but i wrote the likelihood function myself because of data issues ] When I try to optimize a function for only one parameter there is no problem: llik.expo<-function(x,lam){(length(x)*log(lam))-(length(x)*log(1-exp(-1*lam*

obtener residuos de una Anova con biblioteca CAR

8.2 behaving weird on openSuSE 10.3 & 11.0
Listmates, I installed 8.2 on opensuse 10.3 from the opensuse XGL repository to replace 7.6. Compiz works with the nvidia 8600 GT card (512M of GDDR3) on the box, but the ctrl+alt <- -> switching behavior is really bad. In 7.6, the ctrl+alt <- -> desktop switching changed desktops crisply with just the slightest hint of the cube detected during the very short and nice switch.

PBX appliances
Hi List, Does anyone have experiences to relate on the various Asterisk-based PBX appliances out there? Like the Aastra 160, Digium S844i, etc. Do the Epygi Quadro and Grandstream GXE also use Asterisk? Thanks, Femi -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Expectations: actual vs. published
Hi again, I'm hoping this will make it to the list. I'm still puzzled by the behavior of the smb daemon. Jerry Carter's book and talk at the recent Linux World Expo state that after starting nmbd and smbd with e.g. "smbd -D ; nmbd -D" that a "ps -ef | grep mbd" should return the PIDs of both smbd and nmbd. I have downloaded and installed both a rpm

Feedback from VON expo! Info on * HA andPolycomphone!!
Great Email. I'm going to respond to some of the points. "Q: What are the plans for HA? A: With a configuration using DNS-SRV and DUNDi, you can create a pretty resiliant setup now." That's BS. Last time I checked, Asterisk's support of SRV was to only grab the first SRV entry. Period. If it doesn't try any more SRV hosts after the first fails, just exactly how

Linux World Expo 2004 in SF
The cAos Foundation and hosted projects have been granted a booth in the Dot Org Pavilion of Linux World Expo in SF this August. If you are a developer or contributor of the project and would like to help staff the both, please send me a private email so we can coordinate. I don't have the actual numbers of Exhibitor badges that we can get yet, but I would assume it is not many. This means
