Anyone know a good ITSP in Canada that suppo rts *?
There are a number of them, try Comwave, Voxip or Wiztel. Depends on what you need we may also provide it... email me privately if you're interested. Some provide IAX, some only SIP, H323, & MGCP... -----Original Message----- From: hugolivude [mailto:hugolivude@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 7:39 AM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject:

ITSP's no longer supporting IAX?
After a variety of connectivity problems, my itsp (Unlimitel.ca) blamed the problem on the IAX protocol. They told me that as of Asterisk 1.4 the IAX protocol went downhill and many carriers (like VoicePulse) are discontinuing support for IAX. Is this correct? We are all heading for SIP? Canada VOIP provider quality
I'm looking at switching VOIP providers, but want to ensure I move to a company with sufficient capacity. Can any Canadian VOIP users post/email me with feedback on their providers? Opinions on the best wholesale origination/term providers
I've been losing patience with my current provider, a small company called Sellvoip. Their termination is good, and they are asterisk based, but they are understaffed and have no concept of customer service. So I'm shopping. I am interested in the opinions of others on the providers they work with. Here are my criteria, roughly in order a) Decent quality, low latency. In

Inbound provider in Canada
Does anyone have any recommendations for a SIP/IAX provider I can use for inbound callls? The plan is to have a 1800 number people can call and reach my Asterisk. The only provider I'm familiar with is Vonage, but they don't really like the idea of Asterisk according to their terms of service and they would probably notice if there are for example 3 calls coming in at the same time.

: Re: ITSP failover for PRI
Hi, I still have the same problem trying to configure ITSP failover in extensions.conf for a connected PRI. Any comments thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated. I sympathize with wanting inbound DID failover. If we have a client with multiple DIDs we will spread them across two or three ITSPs so that all inbound connectivity will not be lost if one of them has an issue. I

ITSP Gateway Solution?
Right now we I am using Asterisk boxes as a gateway between our Level 3 SIP trunks and our customer PBXs. I love and understand Asterisk but the company I am working for is looking for a more "Commercial" type solution where we can go to a vendor for support etc. I know, we can get Asterisk support etc.. It's not my decision and I sort of get why they are leaning away from Asterisk,

Bad Voice Quality - IAX2 redirect
Asterisk 1.2.7 RedHat 9.0 Hi, I've run into some voice degradation problems with IAX2: I frequently have calls come in on a DiD provided by an ITSP. I often have to redirect these calls back out to the PSTN (i.e. to a cell phone). When this happens, I don't want my server in the media path, I want to hand it off to my ITSP instead and let them handle both ends of the call. I've

Trouble using 2 IAX2 DiDs provided by different ITSPs
Asterisk 1.2.7 Redhat 9 I have DiDs from two different ITSP both set up as IAX2. Each one works when it's the only one in my iax.conf, but when I have them both defined in iax.conf at the same time, only one will work. My iax.conf is provided below. Any ideas how to fix? I'd like to use both DiDs! Thanks, H My iax.conf is below. When I dial the DiD provided by ITSP_B, the other

Hairpinning problems using IAX2 and SIP
Asterisk 1.2.7 RedHat 9.0 I frequently have the need to redirect calls that come in on a DiD provisioned by my ITSP, back to the ITSP so that they can terminate the call on the PSTN. For example when an external call comes in, I often have to send it to a cell phone. I believe that this is referred to as "hairpinning" the call. I do this by answering the incoming call and then I use

Mexican ITSP needed
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knows about a Mexican ITSP I can connect to to route calls from and to my * boxen. If it matters: I'm located in The Netherlands and one of our customers is in Mexico so if we need a Mexican presence that is not an issue. How do I get DIDs for remote areas in Canada
I want the ability to setup DIDs in a variety of different remote locations in Canada. There are various providers that have DIDs in major cities, but none that focus on the "smaller" cities. The question is how do I actually setup these DIDs? Thanks, Geoff

problems with emailing voicemail
Hi, I'm running a 1.1 version of Asterisk (a stable build from back in Oct-05) running on RedHat 9.0. Everything's been great but a couple of days ago, we all stopped receiving emails of our voicemail. There's been no changes to our configuration I bet I'm expereiencing a Linux problem rather than an Asterisk problem, but because I know only as much Linux as required to get

Problems building zaptel 1.4.4
Hi, I'm having trouble compiling zaptel 1.4.4 on SUSE 10.1. I'm really only interested in getting ztdummy to work because this is a dev machine with no zaptel h/w. SUSE 10.1 is a 2.6 kernel: asterisk-dev:/home/hugh # uname -r 2.6.16.13-4-default It seems that my problem is related to autoconf.h - I cannot find that file: asterisk-dev:/home/hugh # find / -name 'autoconf.h'

jitterbuffer and DTMF conflict?
I find that DTMF does not work reliably if jitterbuffer=on for certain IAX providers. For instance, DTMF tones are missed entirely about half the time when I dial into an exgn.net account. However, it always works fine for an unlimitel.ca account. Someone else has seen this too: http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=6011 Can anyone suggest a workaround (other than jitterbuffer=off)? - Mike

SIP signaling vs Media (Voice) Traffic
I have an Asterisk serving 15 people using the X-Lite soft-phone. Currently they all register to the internal IP address of Asterisk (192.168.1.110). I only use VoIP internally. External calls go PSTN. I'd like to arrange it so that they register to our external WAN address (port forwarded to Asterisk) so that they can go mobile and still have Asterisk service. Is it possible to arrange it

Faxing with Asterisk 1.8.4 & T.38
Hi - I am looking for suggestions for ITSPs for faxing with asterisk 1.8. We are based in the US, so would need an ITSP with US DIDs. #1) We would like to use Fax For Asterisk with asterisk 1.8.4 in order to receive faxes via T.38. Sending faxes is not a requirement. Does anyone have a working asterisk 1.8.4 configuration and ITSP provider that they can recommend? We have been trying T.38
