Expire old voice mail messages, et al
I have Asterisk deliver all voice mail to users as email attachments. I found by accident that there is a limit of 99 messages in your INBOX in Asterisk. The 100th attempt to record a voice mail causes the system to play your greeting and then never record the 100th message and silently disconnect the caller. So...is it safe to simply use the UNIX find command to delete any files in the

Retrieve voice mail message from outside
Hi, is there a way to retrieve a VM message pressing some key during the greeting playback? Our scenario is a PBX with analog trunks and no DID. There's a general mailbox and no way to assign a number to voicemail. I've seen these question before in this list, but seen no answer to it... Thanks, Renato

IMAP Voicemail -- HELP! Asterisk not playing Greeting!
I'm using Asterisk 1.4.13, the latest released version. The linux platform is FC7. I setup my Asterisk server to use IMAP storage. Dovecot is the IMAP server. Its storing messages perfectly--no problems. I should also mention that I'm using MySQL for real-time configuration. That must be working (at least partially), because I can authenticate v. the voicemail table. However, the

why won;t my voice files play?
I just recompiled my version from this morning's CVS Head. My systems voice files (voicemail, time etc) were playing nicely. Until that is I added an extension and now the files won't play. Worse than that, * thinks the files have played and goes to the next step in the dial plan. What gives? -- Mark, G7LTT/KC2ENI Randolph, NJ http://www.g7ltt.com

Voicemail greeting playback issues?
Hey all I have been beating on this all weekend long. Any feed back would be appreciated. We stood up a 11.6 system. We tested everything we could think of. We moved over to it and all seemed to be working good than a customer told us that they were not hearing our vociemail greetings. When we call into the system and it drops to voicemail we just get a beep no greeting played. We checked

first few seconds of greeting cut-off
When a person calls into the Asterisk voicemail or auto attendant, the first second or two are cut-off. This happens with custom prompts I have created (with or without 1 or 2 second delays) and with the default prompts that come with Asterisk. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I'm running the current CVS. My default menu config is: [mainmenu] ; ; We start with what to do when a

shorewall compile as non-root user
Hello, please excuse me if this has been discussed or even solved before, but I could not find it in the archives. I''m in the process of migrating several gateways to shorewall-lite, keeping the configfiles on one central adminstrative machine, basically following the guide at http://www.shorewall.net/CompiledPrograms.html . As I understand it, the local /etc/shorewall directory on the

Easier way for end user to change main greeting?
Hi, Has someone figured out how to change the main autoattendant message easily? Right now, you call *77 and record the message. Then you have to get into the Unix/Linux command line to get that message over to where it will be used. Is there a simpler way? Thanks for your help.

Per user voicemail greeting
I'm struggle to answer a simple question. One user at extension 4000 wants a custom .gsm file to play for their mailbox. I can't figure where to put it/what to set in voicemail.conf to achieve this: voicemail.conf 4000 => 4000,system,voicemail at ....net Relevant extensions.conf line: exten => 2,n,VoiceMail(4000 at voicemail) It all works fine, playing the system VM greating, but

Custom voicemail extension greeting
Making custom "voicemail greetings" seems fairly straight forward, and I've done it. However, I'm looking for a way to make the actual extension answer with "You've reached my Jim Dandy voice mailbox, go take a flying . . .". (OK, so maybe not), instead of "The person at extension xxxx, is unavailable" Possible? Easy? Under my nose? joe a.
