5ess
Anyone using 5ess with success? I have a customer that wants to use it. Seems to WORK for a short time then there are errors on the D-channel and their side (nortel switch) shuts down the channel. They were saying something about a slip error. I dont know this term. I am using dahdi 2.1.0.4 and asterisk 1.4.22 and libpri 1.4.7 Any ideas? jerry

GR-303 from Central Office supported?
I'm a little confused on whether the GR303 support in * will accept calls from a Siemens central office that has GR303. Anyone know for sure?

Asterisk as a voicemail for a central office switch
I've spent the past several weeks reading up and playing around with Asterisk while I've been waiting for an ISDN card I got on ebay to arrive so I can really get to business. I'd just like to run my project ideaa by some of you to hopefully get a little feedback. I aplogize if this ends up being a somewhat long message. In the Marine Corps we've somewhat recently started using

ISDN connection problem (i4l, not asterisk)
Sorry for a slightly off-topic question, but I'm getting desperate. I tried to use asterisk to talk w/ ISDN line and tracked the problem to i4l. I have a Diva PCI 2.02 (S/T) card and am running RH8 w/ 2.4.20 kernel (first version that supports the 2.02 w/ hisax driver). The switch is a 5ESS running NI-1 protocol. The card sync's up and reports other traffic on the line, but fails to

PRI protocol question...
I'm having difficulty getting a PRI working between asterisk and a Merlin Legend. I have been attempting to get it going as esf, b8zs & 5ess (although I have tried other switchtypes...). I found the following info in the Legend docs: If the switch type is 5ESS, the protocol MUST be set for ATT Custom. If switch type is DMS-100, the protocol MUST be set for NTNAPRI The README in

Looking for PRI Outbound Caller ID Configuration
I'm having trouble setting the outbound caller ID on calls I make from my PRI trunk group. The PRIs are served out of a 5ESS. Telco has set the PRIs up for user provided caller id information, so I believe I just don't have it set up right in my dialplan or something. I can't seem to find an example of setting the outbound caller ID specifically for a 5ESS. Does anyone have an

Problems configuring a PRI...
I'm trying to get a Qwest PRI configured and working with my lab Asterisk server. They said that the switchtype is 5ess and the signaling is pri_cpe. My entries into zaptel.conf are: span=1,0,0,esf,b8zs bchan=1-23 dchan=24 loadzone = us defaultzone=us channels=1-23 And my entries in zapata.conf are: language=en context=telco-incoming switchtype=5ess signalling=pri_cpe

Looking for recommendations for home office setups
Greetings Asterisk Users, I'm looking for some friendly advice on setting up a asterisk PBX for our small business. I've played with Asterisk and setup a soft-phone open323, though even on my ethernet network this showed very poor performance. Got a phone call through to digium, but had a difficult time either hearing (low volume) or understanding (line breaking up). Hoping a hardware

Display Name
I have an NI2 PRI connection to a 5ESS switch. I am explicitly told to use NI2 as the protocol, not 5ESS. I am running Asterisk 1.2.4. When making calls to the PSTN, Asterisk sends the calling name as part of the display information element in the SETUP message. I need to be able to send the calling name as part of the facility information element in the SETUP message. I've seen that work

Unable to play dialtone on channel xx (Zaptel TE405P)
Hello, I'm running * on a very basic configuration. I have a Wildcard TE405P with the first T1 connected to a PRI line and the remaining three to Adtran TA750 channel banks with FXS modules. I successfully configured everything to work with a couple of Swissvoice IP10S handsets (MGCP) and analog extensions connected to the channel banks. The problem I'm having is that when I pick up any

GR-303 zaptel and zapata configurations
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Does anyone have any working example GR-303 configurations for zaptel and zapata conf? The information available on the wiki as well as in the sample configurations just doesn't seem to be enough to bridge the gap for me. In Zaptel.conf, Do you set up a GR-303 circuit like a PRI with b and d channels or do you set fxo or fxs, ks signalling? How do you

defaultip= in sip.conf doesnt work?
I have several (various brand) sip devices with static IP's. I understand that asterisk will not accept a registration from these devices if the host= parameter is not set to 'dynamic' in sip.conf. I want calls to these extensions to be routable even before the device registers. I understand that is what defaultip= is supposed to do, but it doesn't work. I get a busy tone when

Remote Office, Centrally Shared Voicemail
Hi, I'm trying to set up a remote office with its own Asterisk Server they'll have a dedicated land line, but we'll still want them connected to the main office via VOIP (IAX2 via VPN). I've tested using IAX2 to bridge between the offices based on extensions, since the extensions we want to share are in isolated blocks of numbers. I'm not sure how to handle voicemail though.

What type of PRI setup is best
I am having my colo set up 2 PRI's for my new asterisk implementation. They asked the following... ##SNIP## What type (NI2, NTI, 4ESS, or 5ESS) and whether they want to be USER or NETWORK. If the equipment is flexible, NI2, with us as NETWORK is preferred. ##SNIP## We are using a digium quad span T1 card. What is the recommended setup? Thanks, Chris

Best dahdi switchtype to emulate (network side)?
We are connecting a new device to our voice system, and the vendor has a whole list of "supported" network devices and associated parameters for the Telco to adjust... Yes, it's the telcos issue... Anyway, out of all of the swtich types that dahdi can emulate, what is the most complete/tunable solution? The premise for those interested is a PRI connection to a Dialogic card,

LAN discovery issue
Hi there, Following situation: 3 nodes, Alpha (Home fileserver), Beta (regular PC), Gamma (Notebook). All three in a NATed LAN usually, though the notebook also gets carried around and connects from the outside from time to time. Tinc should help me keep my other 2 PCs reachable from Gamma, even when I'm not at home. Also I plan on maybe adding more nodes to that in the future. I have set

I would think I could do this but for some reason I am stymied. I have a PRI from RCN connected to a cisco 3640 (in my day "cisco" is all lower case :-)). My config looks something like this on the cisco... --------------------------------------------------------- voice-card 3 dsp services dspfarm ! ip cef ! isdn switch-type primary-5ess ! controller T1 3/0 framing esf linecode
