asterisk-backports.org
hi all I just setup a new site, perhaps soon a wiki, to collect what's out there of useful backports from Trunk/1.4 beta back to 1.2. Take a look at http://http://www.asterisk-backports.org/ and judge for yourself ;) roy -- Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk roy@karlsbakk.net (+47) 98013356 --- In space, loud sounds, like explosions, are even louder because there is no air to get in the way.

ultra-cheap asterisk box -> sorta OT, more a bout Dell
FWIW: I order a lot of Dells. My boss is cheap. That being said, I *like* Dell, it's a very well designed box. It's been said many times that Dell does not innovate, instead they copy and improve and I firmly agree with the "improve" part - they are a dream to work on. Some things to watch out for with Dell: 1. They typically tack on a shipping charge of $139 Cdn (yes they

asterisk.org webpage
hi all for new users, finding asterisk info is unneccesary troublesome. the asterisk.org page has very little information about the product and using google for 'asterisk' is like using google for 'linux'. you get all too many hits that has nothing to do with the product. perhaps the asterisk.org page at least should point to voip-info.org? or perhaps it's time someone rewrote

kphone fails to register with asterisk (sip)
hi all when starting kphone, it tries to register with asterisk but fails after a while. The SIP entry in * for this user is below. This is identical to the other SIP entries. The other SIP clients are MSN messenger plus one snom. these work fine. See SIP debug output attached as 'screen-exchange' thanks roy [roy] type=friend ;insecure=yes username=roy ;secret=password host=dynamic

VoIP software for MAC OS older than "X"?
Hello, is there anybody reading this who has experience with VoIP (IAX or not) on Macintosh computers? If so, have you ever seen or heard of (even an experimental, i.e., never marketed) VoIP application for any of the older Mac OSs, such as 9, 8, or 7? I can't quite believe that VoIP is such a recent idea that it was invented only *after* Mac OS X had become firmly established, but so far my

asterisk-backports.org giveaway
hi all I created asterisk-backports.org a year back for backporting stuff from unstable or new versions of asterisk to stable or older versions. now, since we're leaving asterisk for callweaver, and since the domain is about to expire, I have no more needs for this project. However, if someone wants to take over, be my guest :) roy --- Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk roy@karlsbakk.net Tlf:

ultra-cheap asterisk box
hi all what about this... I just put together a box on a web shop (komplett.no) that will cost me NOK ~1850 (? 216) plus a small ?50 drive and cables, so say ?300. This consists of a cheap MB with a duron 1400, 256MB SDRAM and two HFC-PCI cards (if capijod will finish off the zaptel-driver soon). This is all in a cheap PC case. What do you think? Should this be doable? as a product? With only IP

setgid error
Hi all Trying to setup dovecot with mysql and postfix, I have configured it as given below. thecot user has the dovecot group as primary, and is also a member of mail and dovecot-users. Still, it can't setgid to dovecot-users. I tried changing the shell for the dovecot user to something useful and chmod'ing a file to dovecot-users, and it work well. Still, no mail comes through

simulating a few thousand SIP clients?
hi i'm setting up a rig to handle quite a few SIP clients, so i need a way to simulate, say, 20k SIP ATAs. Does anyone know how? This should of course be as close as possible to 'reality', meaning n% calls per client and the usual REGISTER/OPTION traffic. thanks Best regards Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk roy@karlsbakk.net --- In space, loud sounds, like explosions, are even louder

remove-source-files checking for open files?
hi We have a box here connected to an antenna receiving rather large amounts of metheorological data from a satellite. the data is received and ransferred to another box and removed from the receiving server. I first thought of using rsync for this, but it seems --remove-source- files has no way of checking if the file is open or not, so if the receiving process is still writing to a

resilver question

dedup testing?
Hi all Has anyone done any testing with dedup with OI? On opensolaris there is a nifty "feature" that allows the system to hang for hours or days if attempting to delete a dataset on a deduped pool. This is said to be fixed, but I haven''t seen that myself, so I''m just wondering... I''ll get a 10TB test box released for testing OI in a few weeks, but before

ISDN/SS7 book?
hi some time ago, I asked the list of a good book for learning ISDN and SS7. I don't need to know how to write a channel driver or something; I just want to know more about the possibilities and what's really sent back and forth. I was told the book "ISDN and SS7: Architectures for Digital Signaling Networks" by Uyless Black (ISBN 0132591936) was a good choice, but this

voip-info.org DNS seems broken
For the last few days I can not resolve voip-info.org from many DNS servers. It does resolve with some DNS servers but I suspect it may be related more to caching. kernel messages question
Hi I keep getting these messages on this one box. There are issues with at least one of the drives in it, but since there are some 80 drives in it, that''s not really an issue. I just want to know, if anyone knows, what this kernel message mean. Anyone? Zfs ignoring spares?
Hi all I have installed a new server with 77 2TB drives in 11 7-drive RAIDz2 VDEVs, all on WD Black drives. Now, it seems two of these drives were bad, one of them had a bunch of errors, the other was very slow. After zfs offlining these and then zfs replacing them with online spares, resilver ended and I thought it''d be ok. Appearently not. Albeit the resilver succeeds, the pool status
