safe_asterisk with non-root user
Hello, I've found a couple of previous posts on this subject, but with no posted resolution... I'm attempting to run * as a non-root user (asterisk), following the guidelines on the wiki: http://voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20non-root I can run * as my new user with "/usr/sbin/asterisk -vvvvc" without problem. However, I'm unable to run * using

safe_asterisk not working?
I've been experiencing some crashes in Asterisk in the past few weeks. I haven't been able to find out why as gdb shows it's in a different function every time. But, in the meantime, I've been using safe_asterisk hoping that it would simply restart Asterisk by itself. It doesn't seem to do that. Whenever Asterisk crashed, the list of processes doesn't show asterisk or

multiple instances of asterisk spawning
Hello- I have noticed that since i upgraded my kernel, asterisk spawns many copies (usually approximately 18) when starting up. It then runs fine, but there doesn't seem to be any reason for this behavior. I have tried moving between different kernel versions, and all but the stock fedora core 1 kernel exhibits the same behavior. I have verified running this with both safe_asterisk (as I

asterisk console mode
Hi folks, I use safe asterisk to startup and run asterisk in the background. In Safe_asterisk script, there is a parameter (right at the top ), CONSOLE which I can set to no or something. If it is no asterisk startup as asterisk -vvvg , if it is set to something the asterisk startup as asterisk -vvvg -c. Now I am running an agi script when calls get hung-up. That is in my extensions.conf I call

Several asterisk processes starting with safe_asterisk
Hi, I'm running asterisk 1.2.0 on a debian rel 2.6.13 and when I start it with safe asterisk I got instantly more then 10 processes. Until now I didn't detected any impact of this process proliferation in the system, but it is strange and I'm not comfortable with this. Is this a know problem? Any ideas what is the problem here, or where to start searching? I think

Segmentation fault, exit status 139, ...
Hi! I am running an * 0.7.2 on an X86 debian stable 2.4.25 (with backports.org). The HW I am using is Digium's E100P on an HP DL 380. Quite often it crashes, e.g. after a call has finished. Below some logs form the * Console as well as from the /var/log/asterisk/messages (Replaced some stuff with XXX). Any idea what there could be the reason for this segmentaion fault? What other

Bug? Asterisk crashes if SIP UA hangs up first
Hi! As reported earlier this week, I have problems with a sometimes-crashing Asterisk. In most of the cases safe_asterisk is able to restart it. But sometimes it crashes, so that manual interaction is necessary. The seg-faults and crashes occurs, right after call between a SIP Terminal and a legacy PSTN Terminal (PRI/Euro-ISDN), but only if the SIP Terminal hangs up as first. No problem, if the

The Smallest Asterisk Server Ever?
Hello all, Saturday night, after a couple of shots of bourbon, I realized that I had an old PC sitting in the garage that I could use as an Asterisk gateway if I just blew the dust off it and reloaded it with a modern Linux distribution. In my characteristically impulsive manner, I grabbed it and started cleaning it up so that I could put it in my office without my wife having a fit. The

problem with safe_asterisk
Hi all, I have installed some Asterisk machine, all with the same problem. My typical configuration is: - Asterisk 1.2.14 (or 1.4.0beta3) - CentOS 4.4 server. The problem is this: When I start Asterisk with the default init script (/etc/init.d/asterisk start) distributed with the source, and kill (or kill -9) Asterisk-pid, then safe_asterisk doesn't correctly work (it dies and not restart

ASTSBINDIR not being picked up by safe_asterisk
Recently safe_asterisk is failing to pick up ASTSBINDIR. I've never had this problem before and even when I move to back versions I have the issue. I did upgrade safe_asterisk and the init.d scripts a version or so ago but even when I try older ones I still have the problem. When I hard code the location things seem to work. The problem that occurs is: cat:

Strange text on Asterisk console
I've just set up a new box with FC1+updates and the latest Stable Asterisk from CVS. Asterisk is started with the default safe_asterisk script with a console on TTY9. The coloured text on this console is made up of weird characters instead of normal. Please see http://www.softins.co.uk/dsc00018.jpg for an example. If I do "asterisk -rvvvvv" on a normal login, either via the

not sharing IRQ's
I'm not having any trouble with interrupts, but here's my /proc/interrupts on Fedora Core 2 on a hyper-threading CPU and using the SMP kernel (2.6.5-1.138). I don't think I need to worry about uhci_hcd, nothing is plugged into USB, but libata is the disk driver. How do I get libata and wctdm to use different interrupts? $ cat /proc/interrupts CPU0 CPU1 0:
