MWI on Zap analog phone not lighting
We are using Bellsouth 8867 phones on our TDM400B FXS lines
(asterisk-1.0.3). It has a "Voicemail" light, which appears to be MWI
(according to the manual it works with voicemail from the telco that
sends a FSK signal). The dialtone stutters when a line has voicemail, so
I know that I have the mailbox setting right in zapata.conf, but the
light doesn't go on. I am also getting

Problems using TE412P and TDM400B in a IBM x3650
Another day, another apparant unexplained hardware incompatibility.
I have a TE412P and a TDM400B living quite happily in a whitebox using an
Intel motherboard:
http://www.intel.com/design/servers/boards/se7230nh1-e/index.htm
I tried to move to an IBM x3650 system. It uses a slightly newer chipset,
but apparantly it's in the same family. The SE-7230 board has been EOL'd

not sharing IRQ's
I'm not having any trouble with interrupts, but here's my
/proc/interrupts on Fedora Core 2 on a hyper-threading CPU and using the
SMP kernel (2.6.5-1.138). I don't think I need to worry about uhci_hcd,
nothing is plugged into USB, but libata is the disk driver. How do I
get libata and wctdm to use different interrupts?

Will Adtran TSU 600 work with *?
People on the list tend to think you can't make many cards work on a
regular desktop.
If you're willing to wait a couple of week I might have an answer for
you.

callers who don't press any keys
I've noticed that some callers listen to our main menu and don't press
any keys. I have it set up to restart the menu a few times and
eventually hang up. I'm wondering if these are wrong numbers (in that
case, why don't they hang up) or they really want to speak to someone
here but don't understand the menu (what's so hard about "for the
operator, press

Asterisk to sip client behind Firewall/NAT-cancall but cannot receive calls ?
As far as I can remember I only opened sip and tftp ports for the phone.
For some reason (didn't look into it too much) the call stays with sip
and doesn't use RTP.
The problem you describe (the call doesn't even ring on the other side)
is something I had and was solved by upgrading the firmware.
Checkpoint's tracker explicitly said what connection attempts were
blocked and why.

UPS for Asterisk
I have several Linux machines some running on really old hardware and
some on brand new, some run old distros (RedHat 6) and some new (FC3 or
CentOS).
All of them experienced power failure more then once, none of them has
failed to load after a reboot.
BUT,
Asterisk is running your PBX. Your PBX isn't your proxy server, it isn't
your web server, mail server, firewall, or whatever

call wating and call transfer
Recently I put callwaiting=yes in zapata.conf because customers want to
speak to the operator in person, not leave her a voicemail, when she's
busy with another caller. But now she can't transfer either of the
calls (which she can do when there's only a single call).
The operator has an analog phone connected to a TDM400B FXS line. The
calls are coming from PSTN lines connected

Asterisk to sip client behind Firewall/NAT - cancall but cannot receive calls ?
Check your FW-1 tracker and see if any sip packets are dropped during
call initiation.
I had this problem and it went away when I upgraded the BT's firmware to
the latest (16).
Beware, though, that people on the list claim that this firmware breaks
functionality of the message button and autoanswer.
I haven't checked this yet, cause I can't afford to go back a version.

Am I missing something really basic here?????helpwith Asterisk@home {Scanned}
Ok, I thought the point of asterisk@home was that it automatically
detected the X100P board and configured it correctly.
Is this incorrect? You still need to modify /etc/zaptel files? And not
just using the AMP configurator.
There is no mention of this on the Asterisk@home webpage.
Can anyone who has actually used ast6erisk@home confirm this one way or
the other?
Thanks,

Issues with zaptel on FC3 - don't know how to fix zaptel after yum update
I have installed FC3 using the notes from lesnet
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+Fedora+Core+3
It worked very well, worked first time.
My configuration consists of:
(1) TDM400P w/ 2 FXS daughterboards and w/1 FXO daughterboard
I use yum update to update my installation.
After the update and reboot, I attempted to recompile zaptel, Zapata,
libpri, asterisk.
No errors,

fxsmod cable length limit
Is there a cable length limit to use with a fxsmod (TDM400B) ?
I noticed that if I use a very long cable 148 feet, I can hear some
parasite : I hear the radio ! If I use a short cable, there is no
problem...
Thanks for help,

PAP2 won't make two g729 calls at the same time
I have a Linksys PAP2. Identical setups for the two channels in both
the unit and in Asterisk. In particular, both channels enable g729 and
set it as the preferred codec, and have disallow=all and allow=g729 in
sip.conf.
If we make a call on one channel, it works (and uses g729), but if we
make a call on the other channel when the first one is still connected,
it fails. We have three g729

Snom 360 NOTIFY syntax
I'm rolling out an installation with snom 360s in the near future.
Simple SOHO configuration, 3 FXOs hanging off a TDM400B, 4 snom 360s, a
snom 200, some variant of IAX softphone, and an IAXy or Sipura 2002. I
have the 360's set up to subscribe and notify for the line use lights,
which works like a charm for interoffice calling (between the 360's,
anyway. The IAXy, 200 and,

A disk on Thumper giving random CKSUM error counts
Hello all,
As some of you might remember, there is a Sun Fire X4500
(Thumper) server that I was asked to help upgrade to modern
disks. It is still in a testing phase, and the one UltraStar
3Tb currently available to the server''s owners is humming
in the server, with one small partition on its tail which
replaced a dead 250Gb disk earlier in to pool. The OS is
still SXCE snv_117 so

still a pretty standard first fix to reseat a card or connector.

Australian Options
I would just like to get a refresh of the situation for Australian users.
It would seem that the TE400P is currently available and is likely to
acheive approval for use in Australia within the next 2 months ? (when is
the end of summer?).
Once this is done, it will certainly suit larger installations, but it still
leaves a number of 'gaps'.
Anyone with analog phone lines will need
