Feedback from VON expo!Infoon*HAandPolycomphone!!
Hey, You know, the Digium guys said both are good. They said the the DNS method is better because you dont have the extra point of failure (SER) but said the SER method is better in that it gives you more exact control in the handling of the calls and registration. They did acknowledge there would be a possible downtime only for incoming calls to users with dynamic IPs if the

Grrr. I'm using outlook web access and there's no way to do inline replies. Anyway... Gabriel. Using SER does not create a single point of failure. You install three SER boxes. Single point of failure gone. It does not take several seconds. If your phones are configured for SRV, and 2/3 of your SER boxes down, it takes about 2s. That's not bad for a 2/3 system failure. You can

Asterisk behind NAT and Kamailio --> Internal IP in SDP and not "externip"
Hi, We have some Asterisk servers that we are moving behind a NAT to preserve public addresses and make room for growth. This is Asterisk 1.4 NAT works very good with the externip/localnet-setting when we are connected directly to our teleco. But when I try to use NAT and put them behind our Kamailio something interesting happens: The media-address in the SDP is the internal ip and not the

sip_nat.conf - Asterisk with two Ethernet Interfaces
Will this do the intended thing? This is in sip_nat.conf which is included in sip.conf: externip=192.168.0.200 localnet=192.168.0.200/255.255.255.0 externip=64.168.237.110 localnet=192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0 I have Asterisk running on a box with two Ethernet interfaces and bound to both. One interface, 192.168.1.2 services clients outside the firewall who are led to believe that Asterisk is

SIP reply CALL-ID from ITSP has internal address in host part
We are using using what Cisco's Port Address Translation, so that all SIP traffic is done through %EXTERNIP%. ?To any outside box, it should look like the asterisk server is actually on %EXTERNIP%. My SIP packet gets sent to the ITSP with a Call-ID: 2fd557964ca936b66661d72f1328c918@%EXTERNIP% , but the SIP 200 OK reply from ITSP has Call-ID: 2fd557964ca936b66661d72f1328c918@%INTERNIP%. ?I can

no sdp or contact replacement using externip
Hi all! Do anybody has a full working environment using externip on an asterisk box behind a nat? I tried with two diferent boxes (Elastix-1.4.24 e Trixbox-1.4.22-3)and the asterisk do not replace neither contact, neither sdp headers info with the externip informed on sip.conf general parameters. I used these two statements: externip=XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX localnet=192.168.200.0/255.255.255.0 Do

Asterisk Sip trunking routing problem
? Hi ? This problem is driving me crazy. I have two severs which are trunked by the sip ? Asterisk box A is natted thus in my sip.conf file I use the following externip=DDNS address ? Asterisk box B is NOT natted and has a static IP. Asterisk box A and B are both registered with each other. ? B holds the address of the DDNS public IP of A for the sip trunk. Everything works fine. ? The problem

Registering with second SIP service causes error every 2 seconds - what is going on?
I had my asterisk server working fine with FWD as a SIP provider, so I now added a second SIP provider (voctel). The addition to my sip.conf file is almost identical to FWD, however, asterisk now generates lots of debug messages for some strange reason! In particular, the line "##### Testing 127.0.0.1 with 172.31.0.0" shows up every two seconds! (See my log below). If I comment out

Asterisk no audio on calls problem.
Hi there, I am trying to setup a configuration that requires me to use SIP and asterisk behind a firewall and over a VPN to a remote office and with some local Phones also. I can't use IAX to my provider because they don't offer it and my handsets ( snom 300 ) also don't support IAX so it's all SIP. The configuration is a follows Asterisk PBX 10.202.17.217/24 ------>|

Correct syntax to access a shell variable?
I would like to access my shell environment variable MYIP from within sip.conf to put in externip. I've tried some variations of syntax after reading "The Future of Telephony" but it's not working yet. Should it be externip=${ENV{$MYIP}} or some other syntax?? Audio goes one way during the call for a few seconds. Is it RTP, NAT, dyndns, or what it is?

Caller who dialed can't listen the called party but called party can listen him. In this scenatio Asterisk is on dynamic IP with dyndns FQDN. sip.conf has externip = abc.dyndns.org and localnet = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx entry. Trunk and extensions are SIP. Where is

Fwd: RE: Asterisk behind LinkSys NAT Routing
<MOD NOTE:Please kill/bounce my other email, it was accidental.> I just pulled down the newest CVS and recompiled. FWD (free world dialup) works now from *, and I AM behind a NAT. I've nearly given up on the xten lite, iaxcomm sounds better. I'll be trying the other win app thats up-and-coming on the list later. It seems to have broken iptel, but that's not as important to

Really basic stuff :(
Hi :) I've had all this working before, but I'm revisiting it, and in short, I currently have huge problems receiving incoming calls. I've been trying with both FWD and voiptalk.org. I'm running CVS HEAD of asterisk, zaptel and libpri as of yesterday afternoon. Would someone mind helping? :) My machine is 10.0.0.1 on my LAN, but the ADSL router has 10.0.0.1 set as the 'DMZ
