Unfortunately, I'm an idiot and I can't get it to work. I'm having some kind of problem with codecs, I guess, but I don't understand what or why. When trying to use

Are codec "capabilities bitmasks" different in IAX and SIP?
I didn't know how else to caption this. I'm trying to play around with codec pass-through. I have two SIP phones, both with g729, behind two Asterisk servers. I set all the configs, SIP and IAX, to "disallow=all; allow=g729" on both servers. But the originating server won't even try to call the destination server: -- Executing Dial("SIP/btel-c7d7",

Upgrade cause's no Audio on IAX
Ok I upgraded tonight a server from CVS in Late NOV to one just downloaded tonight. It all runs up OK and I can contact it from my ATA 186 using g729a codec and that all works fine. What I am having trouble with is connecting through IAX ATP.org.au in AUS to my server. The connection comes through OK I can see all the tracking info in the console OK but I get 0 audio in either direction.

IAX <> IAX trunking... DP cache?
I'm attempting to get two Asterisk 0.4.0 PBXes to communicate with one another using IAX/IAX2 trunks. I've managed to get a semi-functional NAT Firewall working as a PBX (with Asterisk running directly on the firewall itself), but there are issues with bind()ing to various interfaces which is causing outbound SIP issues. To get around these issues, the idea is to do something like

The version of code I am running is from CVS as of 6/30/04. What happens is that when I make an IAX call to another IAX client the caller receives a really bad echo. All of the documentation I found around using

IAX Example Needed
Hi All! I have two [*]s, and both work OK as a simple local PBX. Now, I try to link them using IAX. Let's call those babies a1 and a2. From a1, I want to dial a phone connected to a2. Both boxes have a fixed IP address, and use standard port 5036, say a1.mystrx.com and a2.mystrx.com. Where I (obviously) get confused, is when it comes to inbound, outbound, registration, etc. Taking a hint
