Horrible MeetMe performance
Hey folks, Using FreeBSD 5.2.1 and I've got the current zaptel driver installed from ports (0.8_1) and current ports asterisk (1.0.1). I've set options HZ=1000 in my kernel config, recompiled and rebooted and as far as I can tell, I've done everything right but when I try to use the conference, the audio is very delayed, choppy and segmented -- totally unusable. Problems with conference on FreeBSD 5.2.1 w/* 1.0.1
Hello, I'm trying to set up a conference room. When I dial it's extension, I get an audible error saying "Not a valid conference room, please try again" followed by a disconnect. I've got debug sip peer 1001 (my X-Lite client) and I see this in the logs: (I'm pretty sure it has something to do with ztdummy, but I dunno... I have the port installed, but I

Hi All I have just finished a re-install of a box that was previously working fine under 4.7. Is rl broken?
Greetings, I cvsup'd and rebuilt a FreeBSD 4.8 system last Friday after receiving the realpath security advisory. The machine is remote and the NIC uses the rl driver. After booting the machine I had no network connectivity. The person at the remote site says the boot was normal and he could see that the NIC was properly configured but he could not ping it and I could not login. We booted

Filesystem problem
Hi. I have been experencing some filesystem problems for the last month or so. I was running 4.8-STABLE and updated to 5.1-RELEASE-p2. While I was running 4.8 and I tried to run a command that required hard disk activity, the process would 'hang' and I would no longer be able to ssh or telnet in. I would get stuck after typing in my login. Running 5.1 is a different story. I did a low

Hardening production servers
Greetings, Apologies if this is not the appropriate list, but my questions are about best practices in maintaining production servers (so I believe I can justify a post in -stable, short of a -release list :) I maintain a modest installation of 6 FreeBSD servers. They're CVSUP'd to RELENG_4_8 (I make buildworld on each individually) and I portupgrade ports as necessary. In an attempt to

cvsup with tag=. on src and upgrading (in general)
I'm just getting into regular use with cvsup (way over do on that one), and I tried to specify a tag=. in the cvsup file. Here's the file: # This file specifies src files are to be uploaded. *default host=cvsup2.FreeBSD.org # *default tag=RELENG_5_1_0_RELEASE *default tag=. *default prefix=/usr *default release=cvs delete use-rel-suffix compress *default base=/usr/local/etc/cvsup

liveice problem
Hello everybody... I figure this is not exactly an icecast question, but maybe someone might be able to help. Icecast runs nicely as far as I can see, and so does liveice, apart from the fact I don't get any input signal fed into it. I think it's due to the fact it expects the signal on line in by default and the souncard only has a mic in. So I tried to use the built in mixer mode,

kern/sys_process.c rev. 1.51.2.4.2.1 (RELENG_4_7)
The fix for the signal number range checking appears to be missing a couple of "uap->" on line 342. cvsup'd within the last hour. Look's like its the RELENG_4_8 code applied to 4.7 which has a different i/f - kern_ptrace() vs. ptrace(). -- Andy

DMA related disc issues
Howdy. I apologize for vagueness of this report but I am not immediately sure how to proceed with this or what details will be relevant. I look after a community server which has been running just fine for the last 6 months or so with no disk issues at all. The box has an all in one Shuttle motherboard which uses the VIA 8233 ATA133 disk controller according to what I see from dmesg. The

DTrace MFC broke kldstat(2) on RELENG_7
Hi, I recently noticed that kldstat(8) started to dump core for me on RELENG_7. I traced the problem down to kldstat(2). r182231 (DTrace MFC) introduced a new version of kld_file_stat struct and added some code to support the old version of the structure in kldstat(). In the new code the old structure is known as kld_file_stat_1. Unfortunately there's a bug in this code: kldstat() copies

usb support kernel changes
I have disabled all usb support in my kernel on todays cvs of -stable, and to my surprise i saw it load automatically as a kernel module; # kldstat Id Refs Address Size Name 1 4 0xc0400000 2cac68 kernel 2 1 0xc06cb000 628f4 acpi.ko 3 1 0xc318b000 1c000 usb.ko This is new behavior indeed, how can i disable usb support as before?
