Should echo cancellation be a "science" oran"art"?
I noticed I get echo on line when my internet connection is congested
(during file downloads, for instance).
Can you verify this isn't your problem?

Uniden UIP200 configuration -- manual MIA?
Hi, all. Got my Uniden UIP200 today (ordered from thetwistergroup.com),
and was very excited to set it up... until I came to the realization
that there were no docs with it whatsoever. There was, however, a sheet
of paper with the stock warnings (don't use the phone in the tub, etc.),
AND a URL -- for documentation. Score!
Well, no.
The URL it gave me, bcs.uniden.com, does indeed have

Uniden UIP200 -- configured, but not working?
Hi, all. I've got my Uniden UIP200 configured via TFTP (had to get DHCP
3.0.1 -- Debian's latest is 2.0.x!), and all seems well... except for the
minor detail that it doesn't work. It registers fine with Asterisk, but
when I copied my Grandstream's sip.conf info and plugged in the Uniden
stuff, no dice. Any ideas?
Thanks...

Dynamically disabling echo cancellation (Zap).
Hi! For reasons that I won't bore people with, I'd like to disable echo
cancellation on-the-fly, depending on which DID a call came in on. I've
seen things like spandsp disable EC for faxes, so I know it's possible.
Any idea where to start looking? (I assume I'll have to make a helper
application of some sort to be called externally, and that's fine.)
Thanks!

"Decent" sub-$100 SIP phone.
Hey, all. I quoted a customer about $100 for some cheap SIP phones. I
was planning on using the BT-102's, but he called said they look like
"Princess phones," and I have to admit that he has a point. Some of the
other inexpensive phones look decent, but (for example) the SPA-841's
wiki entry says the remote end gets a lot of static. Since it'll be
being used from a noisy

mid-call echo
Hello all,
When it comes to echo cancellation, we have had great success using
zapata.conf's echo cancellation. This eliminates the echo at the very
beginning of phone calls.
However, we now have a small office scenario where the users are hearing
the introduction of echo several minutes into a phone conversation
(where the first few minutes of the conversation sound fine):

Reproducible echo on IAX calls to -some- destinations.
I'm very, very confused. Dialing out, through VoicePulse, with both gsm
and ulaw CODECs, most of my calls are great. However, calling my
(non-Asterisk) voicemail at my job, and calling my cell phone both
produce horrendous (~ 1/3-second delay) echo. I've tried with different
phones (Polycom and Grandstream), different IAX CODECs (as described,
above), different network

Voice mail & Uniden UIP-200 phones
I had a working system using * 1.0 and then 1.2 and now Asterisk 1.4.13
with addons 1.4.4, zaptel 1.4.6, libpri 1.4.2. I have a mix of
Grandstream (GXP2000), Uniden uip-200, Linksys Wireless G, and analog
phones via Adtran chan bank. When I went to * 1.4.13, the Uniden phones
stopped being able to login to voicemail. All phones are on same lan
with Asterisk.
I get 'Login incorrect'

SpanDSP not sending to fax extension.
Hi, all. I've got a fax extension in my extensions.conf, but spandsp
never sends my faxes there. Both applications -- txfax and rxfax -- are
registered by Asterisk, so they compiled and installed correctly. I've
got a Sangoma A104 card, and (as some people had suggested) have loaded
ztdummy. Everything seems fine, except that it never gets recognized as a
fax. I've even turned off

Echo Cancellation
Hello,
I am testing speex 1.1.6's echo canceller. I am using testecho.c, with a
few modifications to get it to run on Windows.
My problem is that I am unable to get the echo cancellation to work
correctly. I am working on an audio conferencing software, and one issue
we have is sometimes the microphone picks up what is being played
through the headset, resulting in an echo of the other

OpenVPN on phones?
It's just come to my attention that newer phones from both Snom and
Grandstream support OpenVPN. Is this a new trend or something? Since
OpenVPN, in one swell foop, deals with both NAT issues and securing
communications, I'd be very interested in hearing if other phone vendors
were embracing OpenVPN as well. (Other VPN solutions are all well and
good, but I really like the flexibility

Samba for AD client?
Hey, all. I'm planning on migrating a W2K3 server to a Linux solution.
It needs to be AD-aware, support ACLs, etc. This isn't something I'm
doing Right Now(tm), so I can wait a little bit. A couple questions:
1) Are there any known issues with BTRFS?
2) Which version of Samba would be most appropriate for this?
3) AD integration: I've never really done it (with success); any

UIP200
Hi,
We've recently deployed 6 Uniden UIP200 phones (running firmware 4.54).
We've been having some serious problems:
1) All the phones randomly reboot themselves. Typically when trying to
answer or initiate a call.
2) All the phones will disconnect from a calls with the PSTN after 2-3
minutes.
3) The phones are unable to interact with a remote IVR (digit presses

Receptionist GUI?
Hey, all. Just wondering if there's a GUI out there -- preferably OSS,
but I'll take what-have-you -- that
a) can run on an Ubuntu/Debian box, and
b) allows a receptionist to see what calls are in-process, and forward
calls from their phone to somewhere else.
Thanks!

I have a tftp server setup on my * server and have the files unidencom.txt

a sip phone (sip show peers), but I cann't dial it and the display shows #1

Grandstream speakerphone?
Idle curiosity: I like the look and feel of the Grandstreams, but it's
been my experience that the speakerphones suck (esp. when compared to the
pretty damn flawless Polycoms). I've used the BT-100/101 and GS-2000;
have any of their newer models changed that?
Thanks!
