Comdial PBX -- can use Asterisk as VM box?
Hi! I've got a Comdial PBX that I would dearly love to replace with an Asterisk box. However, for various reasons, it appears not to be in the cards. Regardless of what management does, or does not, want, our current VM solution -- some Dialogic card with a "KeyVoice" application -- is dying. I'm 90% sure it's hardware. I'd rather shoot myself than replace the

Comdial Unisyn Execumail
Anyone know if asterisk will work with a 1995 Comdial Unisyn system? Or know where I could located Execumail? It's an old voicemail software package for Comdial Unisyn phone systems. It runs under DOS. I can't seem to located the software Execumail anywhere for our old system and was hoping I might be able to use Asterisk with it. Regards, Chris -------------- next

Newbie Questions
I've been doing a lot of reading over the last few weeks on Asterisk, and will be implementing a test system this week to play with. I've got two questions in regards to the ideal implementation for our company. First, has anyone written any drivers to interface with proprietary phones? Specifically we have a comdial system and if we could use our existing 35 phones instead of having to

T1 Timing Troubleshooting
I'm having (I think) timing issues in relation to bridged T1-T1 calls via dynamic spans. Fax calls are intermittently working, but voice is fine. My box has a Sangoma A400 inside it as the primary Zaptel timing source. My T1 PRIs that are hooked to the box come in via a foneBRIDGE2 (dynamic TDMoE spans). PRI #1 is the telco and PRI #2 is an existing Comdial FX-II. For some reason, bridged TDM

External MW Lamp On/Off
One of the connections my asterisk PBX has is an analog extension from a Comdial hybrid. On the Comdial system, message waiting is turned on by dialing *3 and then the station number. It is turned off by dialing #3 and the station number. I was wanting to have Asterisk (or Comedian mail) set the message lamp in the Comdial system when a new message arrives for a user, and extinguish the lamp

Re: Newbie Questions - Grandstorm phones?
Thanks everyone for the input. After pricing everything we need out, it's not worth trying to get our old system to work, so I've pitched ditching everything and starting over. I'm very excited and hoping they'll go for it. Regardless, I'm going to throw a box together for my house, we have no home phone (just cell phones) so this'll be a great way of testing. All

Samba and HPUX 11.0
Hello, all. I am the proud owner of a D360 and a D380, both running HPUX 11. I would love to be able to run SAMBA on them, but the compile simply blows up. I'm trying to figure out what's going on there, but has anyone succeeded in getting SAMBA to run under HPUX 11? Thanks, Richard A. Weird issues with TDM400P
We have a TDM400P installed here with four FXS modules. It works well except for a couple of issues: First, I have a Panasonic KX-TG2431 telephone (so others can reach me when I am in o ther parts of the building) hooked up to one of the FXS ports. When the other end hangs up, I get the usual CPC disconnect signal. After the CPC, sometimes it will go to a dialtone, and other times a

W2K Server and Workstation can't join SMB/LDAP domain
I have a SMB Domain set up with a PDC and BDC. The BDC is joined to the PDC domain fine and shows up in the LDAP directory. I can add and delete users to the LDAP directory. I can use the user accounts to access the Linux boxes. My W2K boxes see the domain and domain servers when browsing. I can access the shared drive on the PDC. I cannot join the Windows servers to the domain. I get an error

Reverse Mapping
Hello, I have recently installed Samba on my Sun Fire V-440 Solaris 8 Unix server and it works fine to map drives from my PC (late model running Windows XP Professional)(on a large LAN) to the shares on the Unix server. However, what I have a need for is to be able to map the other direction. Basically, need to sit at my PC at my desk, far from the server, load a CD into the CD-ROM drive of the

Simple PDC/BDC with LDAP config
I want to be able to use Samba to manage a Windows cluster account for failing over two Windows clusters. This is a small system, 8 web servers with two DB clusters along with a couple of other servers handling backup and management functions. I run DNS services on the firewall for the internal machines. The AD DNS is only for the clusters. All the machines are Domain members for single Sign on

LDAP items that might help for How-to
Might want to include the following command in LDAP config incase LDAP doesn't start. slapd -u ldap -g ldap -d -1 This command pointed out that I hadn't copied my samba.schema to the /etc/openldap/schema directory. Might want to put that in the doc before you start LDAP. A newbie like me might pass over that little detail while following the instructions... Kevin B. McCrory Network
