Cisco 7960 SIP Upgrade
I couldn't figure it out on my own. I tried to purchase a Smartnet for the phone, but the original 7960 is not supported. Is it technically possible and if so, what would it cost me to have someone remote into my network and upgrade my SCCP 7960 to the latest SIP firmware? ---------- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com -------------- next part --------------

Cisco 7960 SIP Images
What you and so may others on this lise seem to forget is that Cisco is a company offering bsuiness products for businesses. Businesses typically pay by check and wire transfer, especially for items such as this. If you want home-user pay-by-credit-card service, buy products from Belkin's home line and similar. Oh...what's that? None of these cheesy Stocked-at-Costco hardware

Cisco 7960 (SIP) hold problems
Has anyone had problems with using hold on a 7960 SIP firmware? The problem is when the 7960 puts a call on hold and you take it off hold again, the 7960 outbound audio is delayed on the other end. Sometimes up to a few seconds. I've tried a couple different things, making the "other end" a diff type of trunk ie: 7960sip --> asterisk --> IAX2 --> PRI 7960sip -->

SIP Firmware for Cisco Phones
Just a quick note to people looking for SIP firmware images for Cisco phones: To access these files from Cisco's website, you need to have a Service Contract (SmartNet) on at least on of your phones. I though a contract was several hundred dollars, but it is way cheaper! Their lowest level, 1 year Next Business Day 8x5 SmartNet program, costs around $70.00, and gives you unlimited access to

IAX2 update - timestamp issue within iax pkts
For those that might be using Cisco 7940/7960 sip phones and placing calls across an iax2 link, we think the voice quality problem has been identified and corrected. The dev cvs should be updated as of about 3:30pm CDT today (April 14). History: Calls originating from a Cisco 79x0 sip phone and sent via iax2 link to some distant * machine resulted in very poor quality audio, and in some cases,

Cisco 7905G SIP firmware needed
To get the SIP firmware for these phones, you need to buy a Cisco SmartNet support contract (about $75 USD in the USA, though I've heard rumors a Europe-only contract exists for about $10 USD.) You can purchase one through most Cisco resellers. That will give you access to Cisco's download site. Configuration of these phones under SIP is not quite as straight forward as it is with SCCP,

Cisco Support for 7940, Is this Right?
Hi all, Happy Wednesday! Got a 7940G off eBay to tinker with and, per the wiki, contacted Cisco about a service contract. Being just little ol' me, they won't deal directly and blew me off (I hate dealing with Cisco, Nortel, etc as a small-business person...) Again per the wiki, I hit CDW.com and found CON-SNT-CP7960 for $9.14. Looking for support for the 7940 (not 7960), I just

Cisco 7905/7912 SIP image location (on Cisco's site)
Hello all, I feel dumb asking this, but does anyone have a link to the SIP firmware for the 7912 on Cisco's site? I have a SmartNet contract, but I just can't find the link (you can search for "7960 sip firmware" and find that fast). Thanks for the help, Jeb Campbell jebc@c4solutions.net

Cisco 7940/7960 and voicemailmain not able to press keys after a hold.
I have noticed a problem with the Cisco 7940/7960 phones where if you put your voice-mail box on hold using soft keys and come back you can no longer navigate. I am curious if anyone else can duplicate this problem. Happens reliably for me with the 7940 phones. I use rfc2833 for DTMF. I would think it was a Cisco bug, but for the fact that this did not happen with older version of

Cisco 7940 Upgrade Failing
Does anyone know how to get a Cisco 7940 w/FW ver 2.0.3 to v3x and above. Can't get it to upgrade on its own via TFTP. Cisco 7.2 firmware for SIP 7940/7960 released
Hi All, Just a heads up - I was looking around the Cisco FTP a little while ago and noticed that the SIP 7.2 images for Cisco IP Phone 7940/7960 were released yesterday (16th August). No new features - all bug fixes according to the release notes. I've already started using it. I thought those of you running the Cisco phones and the appropriate access who didn't yet know would like to

changing cisco 7940/7960 standard menus ?
Hi, We are using Asterisk 1.2.1 with Cisco 7940 and 7960 phones. Most things are running fine ;-) But, when you are calling and you want to Transfer, you need to press first on the 'more' button (4th), then you have the label 'Trnsfr' to Transfer. these are the lables on the softkeys when having a phone call: "Holt / EndCall / Confrn / more" press more and you get

Cisco 7940/7960 phone and conference calling?
Hello, Anyone else having problems with the Cisco 7940/7960 (5.3 firmware) and the latest CVS build, placing conference calls from the phone? I've noticed the party on the Cisco phone's side will sound very garbled, and delayed by several seconds. I haven't begun troubleshooting yet, though I'm able to reproduce this easily... Thanks in advance, -a
