tuning an x100p in Australia for echo cancellation
I have an x100p which suffers from echo (no surprise there apparantly :), and a few of the things I've read about tuning out echo say the first thing to get right is the tx and rx gain, and for that you need a few different types of test lines from the telco (Telstra, Optus, whatever). Does anyone have any numbers in Australia for such lines? I think they just need to send out a tone of a

OT: Differences between test equipment
Hello! Given the current discusison regarding ztmonitor, line testing, etc., I've been looking into purchasing a used transmission test set. From my research, it seems that there are two items that might fit the bill: the HP 3551A and the HP 4935A. I know nothing about these specific devices. I *do* have a good background in electronics, and I understand the concept what they're

Calibrating both RX and TX gain?
Hello! I'm having an echo problem with a TDM card. The TDM card is being fed by a channel bank just 12 or so feet away. When you put an analog handset on the line, both the RX and TX volume seem to be just fine. However, when I use the TDM card, I have to have an rxgain of 13.5, and even then, the audio is relatively quiet. I'm also getting echo on these lines, so I have turned

echo problem
I have searched for how to locate echo cancelation on SIP clients, but cant find anything and echocancel=y doesnt seem to have any effect. Configuration: CVS-HEAD from last month iPAQ h5500 with SJPhone (gsm/ulaw/alaw) Problem description: When I place or receive a call I hear a faint delayed echo of myself. The other party hears a really bad nonmuted echo that makes the call unusable. Aside

PRI echo issues: solvable?
Hello, After solving the other "low hanging fruit" audio issues in our Asterisk PBX, we are left with occasional cases of severe echo which we have not found a solution for yet. Our system: - Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1 - TE110P on a PRI - TDM04 and TDM40, but these are unrelated to current echo issues - Fedora core 3 - Echo canceller KB1 Most calls have minimal, acceptable echo levels. But

Intel 536ep as a FXO?
Hi, I've seen some reports about ruuning Intel modem with 537 or MD3200 chipset running with Zaptel drivers as a FXO port. Did anybody managed to set up a PCI faxmodem based on Intel536ep chipset to work with * and Zaptel drivers? Modem seemd to work just fine with Linux, but the driver says no;) some more info: Linux 2.4.26 mazuchna:~# cat /proc/pci | grep 536 Communication

Cisco's description of echo
We are having trouble with an installation that is getting a lot of echo on some calls. The installation is all SIP phones and they have a VoIP provider. When we call through the voip provider and into another of their customers (voip throughout) there is no echo problem. If we call in their landline, through the TDM400's FXO to one of the SIP phones, there is no echo problem. Sometimes

How to 'read' ztmonitor and set gains
Being one the many people trying to track down echo 'ghosts' I ran across this page: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html suggesting ways to adjust the gain. I have a TDM400P 2x2 config with Kewlstart lines configured. I've located a local telco milliwatt test line, and when I call it, the gain numbers are no where near 14844. Now, this

Echo cancellation, when software doesn't cut it. Whats next?
Over the last couple weeks I've tried everything I could get my hands on in an attempt to get rid of my echo problems. Using a CVS checkout of just yesterday, I've tried every echo cancellation routine in zconfig.h (including Mark2 w/Aggressive) , as well as the echotraining=800 mentioned on this list just last week. While some things worked better then others, I would consider none

Echo cancellation and DTMF from the Asterisk console?
Hi, I'd like to try using a good quality microphone and a set of PC speakers (in the first instance) to create a powerful speakerphone; if I get that working, I'll probably try more elaborate audio equipment. For this to work, I'll need software acoustic echo cancellation, or the caller at the other end will constantly hear his/her voice echoing back. I gather Asterisk can do

sangoma card rx/tx gain level
Hey Guys! We had echo issue before so we replaced old PRI card with Sangoma A102D HWEC. Now my question is i set rx/txgain level 0.0 default do i need to touch this value or default is best. I have read on google and people say it should around 14844 on ztmonitor for rx/tx level same. I just use milliwatt and test my default 0.0 rx/tx level and it come around 4600. Do you think i need to make

PSTN line quality
I'm looking for some input from someone with real experience of telephony. I am having problems with the sound quality on our PSTN line calls. Our channel banks are Adtran 600 and 750 and I spent a lot of time on the phone with Adtran trying to work out the problem. We are getting hum and noise and very low volume on calls. I can increase the gain in zapata.conf but that increases the echo

SIP phones unbeatable echo
Hey all again, I'm wrestling with echo problems on our sip extensions. I've set these items in zapata.conf but tweaking these values doesn't seem to make much difference echocancel=yes echocancelwhenbridged=yes echotraining=2500 rxgain=8.0 txgain=1.0 are there other settings that can help me tame this beast? Been searching but not turning up anything that'll work here. Thanks

Milliwatt Test Number List
Hello: Does anyone know of a list of milliwatt test numbers for debugging echo? Specifically I am looking for a milliwatt test number in Canada, preferrably in a 416 or 905 NPA exchange....different carriers would also be nice....ie. Bell Canada, GT, Sprint (Now Rogers Telecom) I called Rogers NOC and asked them for the milliwatt test number....they didn't even know what it was....so I

Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
I came into this with my eyes wide open. I have read ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING there is to be found on the net about avoiding echo problems BEFORE I even attempted to create a production system. Since lots of people are apparently using this in production environments now I just assumed that echo IS avoidable. As others have recommended, I created a test system with the proposed production

Milliwatt Analyzer available
Hi, some days ago we discused here the need for an analyzer for the 1000 Hz tone, as opposite application to Milliwatt. Here it is: Mwanalyze http://planinternet.net/download/voip/asterisk/app_mwanalyze.c It performs a Fourier analysis for a fixed frequency and tells the amplitude. The frequency is not limited to 1000 Hz, but can be passed as argument. The periode duration must be a mulitple

Analog FXO Woes Continue
I've been struggling with a test * install for a couple months now in a small office and am just about ready to give up on it. It's not that the system itself is a problem. I've got everything (attendant, voicemail, FXS extensions, Cisco and Polycom hard-IP phones, and 2 VOIP carriers) working except for the frigging analog FXO interfaces. These things are driving me completely mad.

Test Line
Hi, Somewhere in the Wiki I read that the best way to adjust the rxgain and txgain is to dial a "type 102 milliwatt test line". This line is usually found in xxx-958-nnnn or xxx-959-nnnn ranges. I'm in area code 323 in Los Angeles. Does anybody know the test number here?? Thanks, -N
