Very bad echo (appears that...)
The echo canceller algorithms aren't doing anything. We get extreme echo during the conversation, it appears even before the call connects, the echo is there... This only happens with SIP to/from WCFXO (analog POTS). Looking at the Zaptel configuration: /etc/asterisk/zapata.conf: echocancel=yes echocancelwhenbridged=yes rxgain=0.8 txgain=0.8 (although none of the above options

Dlink DG-104S (chan_mgcp) and configuration w/Asterisk
I have a DG-104S (which I reset to factory settings, it's DHCP'ing off my network, plugged into the WAN port). The system comes up, and I through the web browser set under Call Agent IP Address to: Notify Entry: dlinkgw@[192.168.1.1]:2427 (192.168.1.1 is the * server) I have RGW Name: and DNS IP addres the DNS IP of the MGCP box and DNS State disabled (not sure what to set it to) --

Repost: System crash on loading gdm revisited
Hello - I never heard back on this and continue to experience this bug. Can someone help me to locate the patch for this so that I can be sure it's included in my source? It's not happening on every boot, but about every other or third. And just as described in the bug report (the boot works OK, but at the end rather than GDM starting nicely, I get a "fuzzy" screen and the

TFTP problems on FC4
Greetings to all. I am hoping someone can help me out with a problem I am having getting my Cisco phones, 7960s and 7940s, to download the appropriate files from our TFTP server. The TFTP server is running on Fedora Core 4. The TFTP server appears to be setup properly: service tftp { socket_type = dgram protocol = udp wait =

Netgear FS116P and Cisco 79XX phones
I am hoping that someone has had better luck with this than I have. I would like to connect Cisco 7940s and 7960s to the Netgear FS116P, and take advantage of its POE. I know that the Cisco phones use Cisco's "pre-standard" POE implementation, but as I understand it the difference is really only two pins. I bought a bunch of PowerDsine inline power adapters which supposedly change

Caller-ID name lookup via anywho.com
Hey all, Did I see something on here about using an AGI script to do reverse lookups via anywho.com? I have a PRI that only gets caller-id number and no Alpha. TIA, -- Daniel Jimenez <djimenez[at]pobox[dot]com>

Caller-ID Info with Voice Mail -- Can it display to the phone?
We recently switched my wife's business over to an Asterisk setup using Cisco IP phones (7940s and 7960s) with chan_sccp. They didn't use any kind of "office-style" phone system before, they had one phone in the office with a built in answering machine that would display the Caller ID of the person who left the message while playing the message. I know in the Asterisk

Changing kernel params in CentOS 4.2
Hello - One of my users would like a kernel parameter changed. We're running CentOS 4.2 so I'm not sure if we need to upgrade the kernel for this change or not. He's seen that in the 2.6.11.12 kernel "PIPE_SIZE is defined in include/linux/pipe_fs_i.h and takes on the value of PAGE_SIZE" He wants PIPE_SIZE to be increased to 8*PAGE_SIZE. Can this be changed in the 2.6.9

Memory Loading
Our system has potentially a few thousand firewall rules and HTB classes. I need to find out the amount of memory these things consume: - iptables firewall rules - HTB classes If anyone has any easy links to this information, that would be great. Failing that, a pointer to a good place to look in the source code would be very helpful. _______________________________________________

undefined method `inherit'' for Merb::Test::ExampleGroup
RSpeckers: I''m trying to install this into a Merb-generated RSpec rig: http://code.jeremyevans.net/doc/fixture_dependencies/ It requires inserting their test case into RSpec. This is the documented way to do it: describe ''Post'' do inherit FixtureDependencies::SequelTestCase And that leads to the syntax error in the subject line. (No stack trace is available

Redirect problem/bug/feature
I have a major problem with SIP redirects, or maybe just do not understand how they are supposed to work. We are using Cisco 7940s and 7960s with SIP version 6.3. Asterisk 1.2.5. A call come in to extension 944 over the IAX trunk. Extension 944 has forward all to extension 904 set on the phone. According to the dialplan. extension 904 should ring for 90 seconds, then ring another extension, and

Calling All FS Fanatics
Now that I've been enlightened to the terrible write performance of ext3 on my new 3Ware RAID 5 array, I'm stuck choosing an alternative filesystem. I benchmarked XFS, JFS, ReiserFS and ext3 and they came back in that order from best to worst performer. I'm leaning towards XFS because of performance and because centosplus makes kernel modules available for the stock kernel.

Bandwith problem
I recently suffer badly from low bandwith. At first I thought it was my Linux box, but after tracing the problem it turns out it was the ammount of double posts I get from Patrick Turley... :) Isn''t there a way to block mail.rocksteady.com? It seems the mail originates from 10.50.23.3, and is forwarded by this host (which would make sense). Greetz -- Jurrie

Cisco 7940/7960 XML application hint
I don't know if this is already common knowledge, and it's not specificly for Asterisk, but if you are using Cisco phones and want to roll XML applications, make sure you have "Connection: close" in your HTTP header. Without it screen loads are very sluggish. In PHP, do: header("Connection: close"); I whipped up quick-and-dirty PHP/MySQL/Cisco XML directory and
