Virus Alert
An attachment called (WORM_SOBIG.C) in an email that appears to have been sent from your email address to (arrowcomp at xtra.co.nz) contained the virus (WORM_SOBIG.C), which has been deleted. If you do not believe you were the actual sender, the Klez virus is likely to be the culprit. The Klez virus works by forging the 'From' address inside the virus infected email, which means you can

CentOS4 desktop has stopped recognizing removable media - haldaemon problem?
USB sticks and cameras used to pop right up on my desktop. Now they don't. I've checked the Gnome "Drives and Media Preferences" and nothing has changed -- I have "Mount removable media when inserted" etc. (Tried toggling it off and back on, no effect.) I've logged out and back in, even rebooted. /var/log/messages shows the devices are being recognized by udev:

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

Mac OS and interpretation of @ in a username. Ex user@mds.xyz doesn't work on Mac OS but does on Win 10
Am I missing something? I don?t see where you are using the ?@? symbol anywhere. Mac is probably interpreting the parameters ?valid users? and ?write list" (correctly, I think ;-) as a LIST of 3 users: joe, at, mds.xyz or bob, at, mds.xyz. torch

Clients send tons of Notiftication requests
I have been trying to help Luca on the QNAP forum since I have the same NAS. It reports smbd version 4.7.12. I have not had any issues, but I am in a Mac/Linux environment only. In Luca?s case, he is using NFS (not sure what version) on his Mac and I initially thought that maybe it was initiating change notifications somehow. Possible?

dovecot vs cyrus, uw, etc.
I've been doing research on switching our current e-mail server (qpopper, sendmail) to imap. The decision on which server to use is essentially down to Cyrus and Dovecot -- I like Cyrus' approach to a lot of things, but the "blackbox" nature of it makes some niceties like using spamassassin and procmail difficult, or at least counterintuitive. Dovecot seems to play nicer with

(example: Configure Samba to Work Better with Mac OS X [ https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_Samba_to_Work_Better_with_Mac_OS_X] ). Thanks for the suggestion though. I've now been trying out the various Apple specific flags in vfs_fruit ( https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/current/man-html/vfs_fruit.8.html), though with no success thus far. Example settings tried in smb.conf: [global]

Internet threat management package
... Looking for a recommendation for a commercial threat management package. ( Think antivirus / antispy / anti-rootkit -- all rolled into one engine ), similar to this product: http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_services/work-space-security.php, which currently only supports one kernel for FC6, and RHEL4, officially. Here's the background. Need to make a decision and investment for a

connect Mac OS X 10.5.8 to Samba 4.9
On your Samba server, check build options: #: smbd -b - look for vfs_catia, vfs_fruit, vfs_streams_xattr modules. If you have the vfs_ modules, then take a look at this: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_Samba_to_Work_Better_with_Mac_OS_X <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_Samba_to_Work_Better_with_Mac_OS_X>

Replacing the for loop for time series buid-up
Hi, is there a function that replaces the following code? n=200 boot.x[1]=odhad+boot.res[1] #(boot.x[0]=1) for (j in 1:(n-1)) { boot.x[j+1]=odhad*boot.x[j]+boot.res[j+1] } This is nested in two other loops, and I am looking for some way to improve code performance I tried sapply and cumprod but no success. vfs objects
Is the ?important" vfs objects parameter documented in a man page anywhere? It appears in the man pages of several vfs modules, but never fully documented that I could find.
