Voicemail2 and MWI
We've been testing (aim:frziegler and aim:end1r) the Voicemail2 app for a few days now, based on a CVS build from Monday, 5/12/03-23:15. Works good! Thanks Mark! We seem to have found a bug in the MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) logic. By simply creating msg0000.txt files in both structures, e.g.: for extension 4000: voicemail1: /var/spool/asterisk/vm/4000/INBOX/msg0000.txt

Microsoft Fax
Hello, does anyone has some Information about M$ Exchanges Fax. If you configure Exchange there is an Option about Fax. If you go there, you can say you have the Modem on your PC or you can say it is in the Network and you have to put in the Networkpath. It would be great to use this with Samba but at this time I think Samba doesnt support it. Maybe someone has some Information for me how I

fsck.ext4 Failed to optimize directory
I had a rather large ext4 partition on an Areca RAID shut down uncleanly while it was writing. When I mount it again, it recommends fsck, which I do, and I get the following error: Failed to optimize directory ... EXT2 directory corrupted This error shows up every time I run fsck.ext4 on this partition. How can I fix this? The file system seems to work ok otherwise, I can mount it and it

How to make a network interface come up automatically on link up?
I have a recently installed Mellanox VPI interface in my server. This is an InfiniBand interface, which, through the use of adapters, can also do 10GbE over fiber. I have one of the adapter's two ports configured for 10GbE in this way, with a point to point link to a Mac workstation with a Myricom 10GbE card. I've configured this interface on the Linux box (eth2) using

Problems with Hangup Detection in VoiceMail2.
Hi. Has anyone experienced hangup detection problems with the VoiceMail2 app? I have a console phone on the FXS port. When I call a SIP phone, and get its voicemail greeting, I can enter the VoiceMail2 app, leave a message, and then hit # to stop message recording. Recording does stop, but the channel stays up inside the VoiceMail2 app (as shown by a "show channels" command) for about

SUMMARY: Problems with Hangup Detection in VoiceMail2.
Many thanks to Martin Pycko and Mark Spencer. Mark's suggestion below was correct: "Maybe it's stuck trying to send the e-mail notification. If you take the e-mail address out of /etc/asterisk/voicemail.conf does that speed it up?" Indeed it did! The problem turned out to be a 60second delay while invoking mail, caused by a mis-configuration of my hostname and

Samba + WAN?
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen! On a CD-ROM-server at the University Koblenz-Landau we are using Samba (2.0.5a) with Red Hat Linux (6.0, Kernel 2.2.5). The server is located here in Koblenz, but also used from another department of the university at Landau (about 80 miles from Koblenz; they have their own class B network). A traceroute from both locations gave a response time of about 10-50 msec. On

Annoteting graphs using text
Dear All, I am new to R and am trying to learn how to create functions using R. Below is code which calculates Lin's Concordance Coefficient. After I calculate the coefficient I want to create a scatter plot which annotates the coefficient along with preceding text onto the plot. The below code doesn't seem to work. If I use only the object 'lincc' on the text command it works

Filesystem writes unexpectedly slow (CentOS 6.4)
I have a rather large box (2x8-core Xeon, 96GB RAM) where I have a couple of disk arrays connected on an Areca controller. I just added a new external array, 8 3TB drives in RAID5, and the testing I'm doing right now is on this array, but this seems to be a problem on this machine in general, on all file systems (even, possibly, NFS, but I'm not sure about that one yet). So, if I use

CentOS 6.4 kernel panic on boot after upgrading kernel to 2.6.32-431.29.2
I'm on a Supermicro server, X9DA7 motherboard, Intel C602 chipset, 2x 2.4GHz Intel Xeon E5-2665 8-core CPU, 96GB RAM, and I'm running CentOS 6.4. I just tried to use yum to upgrade the kernel from 2.6.32-358 to 2.6.32-431.29.2. However, I get a kernel panic on boot. The first kernel panic I got included stuff about acpi, so I tried adding noacpi noapic to the kernel boot parameters,

Installation of Samba 4.3 on Ubuntu Server 15.04 failed
Thank you Rowland, I finally managed to create '/usr/local/samba‘ and I also created a basic smb.con in "/etc/samba-4.3.0“. But when I try to start the Deamons manually with /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D (and /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D) I get the error: /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd: No such file or directory How can I start the deamons instead? Or is this a hint that the installation is

ext4 deadlock issue
I'm having an occasional problem with a box. It's a Supermicro 16-core Xeon, running CentOS 6.3 with kernel 2.6.32-279.el6.x86_64, 96 gigs of RAM, and an Areca 1882ix-24 RAID controller with 24 disks, 23 in RAID6 plus a hot spare. The RAID is divided into 3 partitions, two of 25 TB plus one for the rest. Lately, I've noticed sporadic hangs on writing to the RAID, which

Why is my default DISPLAY suddenly :3.0?
I'm on Fedora 6.3. After a reboot, some proprietary software didn't want to run. I found out that the startup script for said software manually sets DISPLAY to :0.0, which I know is not a good idea, and I can fix. However, this still doesn't explain why my default X DISPLAY is suddenly :3.0. -- Joakim Ziegler - Supervisor de postproducci?n - Terminal joakim at terminalmx.com

LVM RAID0 and SSD discards/TRIM
I'm trying to work out the kinks of a proprietary, old, and clunky application that runs on CentOS. One of its main problems is that it writes image sequences extremely non-linearly and in several passes, using many CPUs, so the sequences get very fragmented. The obvious solution to this seems to be to use SSDs for its output, and some scripts that will pick up and copy our the sequences

"Can't find root device" with lvm root after moving drive on CentOS 6.3
I have an 8-core SuperMicro Xeon server with CentOS 6.3. The OS is installed on a 120 GB SSD connected by SATA, the machine also contains an Areca SAS controller with 24 drives connected. The motherboard is a SuperMicro X9DA7. When I installed the OS, I used the default options, which creates an LVM volume group to contain / and /home, and keeps /boot and /boot/efi outside the volume group.

samba and firewalls
I have a little home network with one Windows 98 PC and a pc running linux. My idea is that as soon as DSL is finally made available to my area (which I keep getting told will be real soon now) I want to route it through the linux box and up to the Windows PC, using IP masquerading, etc. At present I have samba enabled on the unix box which opens up several worthwhile conveniences to me:

pdf/writer: table.render_on best practices?
Hi All, I generate a pdf report that contains a table. The report is 14 pages, and it takes 20s to be rendered. Most of these 20s are spend in the render_on method. I wonder if it is possible to speed up that process? To create the report, I do the following: 1) Setup pdf layout: # Setup pdf layout pdf.select_font("Helvetica", { :encoding => "WinAnsiEncoding"})
