"Statistiques avec R"
Dear R users, I want to share my joy with you. Please see the following excellent introduction to R "Statistiques avec R " by Vincent Zoonekynd http://zoonek2.free.fr/UNIX/48_R/all.html In paticular, you can see a lot of fascinating graphics examples of R from which you can get many hints. Soryy if this is already well-known, but the CRAN search did not show nothing with the keyword

How to extract function arguments literally
Dear all, One of my friends asked me if it is possible to extract actual R function arguments literally (precisely, as strings). The reason is simple. He feels sometimes awkward to attach quotation marks :-). What he actually wants is to pass R command arguments to XLisp subroutines (He has been an enthusiastic XLisp user for a long time and still tends to use R as a wrapper to XLisp). Is it

How to change the significant codes default?
Dear R experts, I am posting this question on behalf of a Japanese R user who wants to know how to change the siginificant codes default. As you know, R's default significant codes are: Signif. codes: 0 `***' 0.001 `**' 0.01 `*' 0.05 `.' 0.1 ` ' 1 But he says that it is usual in economics to give codes such as `***' for 0.01, `**' for 0.05 and `*' for

I want to put multiple plots on a page using par(mfrow), then a single title at the top. This should work, but doesn't: R> par(oma=c(0,0,4,0), mfrow=c(3,4)) R> for (i in 1:12) {plot(1); title(i)} R> ## text(10,10, ".") R> par(mfrow=c(1,1), oma=c(0,0,1,0)) R> title("Main Title") The main title does not appear. However, uncommenting the third line

L10N and i18n of R
Dear R-users of non-English speaking countires. Maybe a good news for those who want to use R in their local languages. Recently two Japanese, E. Nakama and M. Okada, succeeded in "making R speak Japanese". At present, R can handle Japanese (as well as other languages, I guess) character strings if one use consoles which can understand Japanese. Also P. Series temporales

R 'arima' discrepancies
Rob J Hyndman gives great explanation here (https://robjhyndman.com/hyndsight/estimation/) for reasons why results from R's arima may differ from other softwares. @iacobus, to cite one, 'Major discrepancies between R and Stata for ARIMA' (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22443395/major-discrepancies-between-r-and-stata-for-arima), assign the, sometimes, big diferences from R

Forecast package, auto.arima() convergence problem, and AIC/BIC extraction
Hi all, First: I have a small line of code I'm applying to a variable which will be placed in a matrix table for latex output of accuracy measures: acc.aarima <- signif(accuracy(forecast(auto.arima(tix_ts, stepwise=FALSE), h=365)), digits=3). The time series referred to is univariate (daily counts from 12-10-2010 until 5-8-2010 (so not 2 full periods of data)), and I'm working on

Overall Title in par(mfrow)
Hi, Say I did something like: par(mfrow = c(1, 2)) plot(1:10) plot(1:10) and I'd like to have an overall title, i.e. a title that would appear, centered, on the top of both plots, rather than the top of the last plot. I tried: title("FOO", outer = T) but it doesn't appear right. Half of the FOO is outside the figure region and can't be seen... Is there another
