Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
Dear All, I try not to bump too much, but I just tried Ubuntu 18.04, and it is not in repo and I still do not see any PPA available. If it would help, I can spend the time to explain why I believe it helpful to install using a command rather than webbrowser, but I think this is already understood why helpful, but it seems there is just a technical tricky problem to solve to implementation. Thank

Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
Hi, rstudio is very easy to install, but it would be great if it were just an apt-get away. Is there a reason it is not in Ubuntu main repos or in rrutter PPA? Kind regards, Xu

[Fwd: [Xen-changelog] Move xcs to unix domain sockets.]
Just forwarding this changelog from yesterday. xcs now uses Unix domain sockets in unstable. This was a hot thread a couple months back with strong opinions on both sides and no clear resolution on the list, so I thought some people might like to know the developers'' resolution. This should be good news for those seeking tighter dom0''s, particularly those who

expand the inside of command with rep ?
Hi, I would like to be able to repeat a string within a command. I think there is an easy way but I can not figure out how. Here is an example. x<-1:15 I would like to turn this into the following matrix: xm<-cbind(x,x,x,x,x) But I would like to do so by having a command that repeats x within the cbind command. Does that make sense? I have tried various things mainly involving the

Centos kernel does not boot, redhat does (i2o raid controller problem)
Hi, following system: Dell PE2650, 2 2.4ghz Xeon, 1gb ram, Dell Perc4DC Controller It has EL5 installed, but I wanted to change to Centos because of the missing workstation packages in the entry server repository. The system was redhat up2date until yesterday, so the latest kernel was missing. I changed redhat-release to centos-release packages and the new centos kernel was installed the via

vde on tinc
Hi guys and gals, I just wanted to compile tinc with vde interface, but found src/vde is missing in tar balls of tinc-1.0.16 and tinc-1.0.14. I remember once I have compiled vde on tinc-1.0.14. Is it removed intentionally? I couldn't find an update in ChangeLog. Besides, the newest code in git fails to compile, because of a redefined extern static variable in src/vde/device.c. I need to

Why no changelog & changes in the News
Hi all, I downloaded the newest package in the hopes of a changelog so I can ask for packaging in the distribution but there is no changelog in the Changelog. It was empty. The only thing which was relevant was in the News. Why the changelog is kept if its not gonna be used? -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal This email is licensed under

Changelog maintenance
Hi, We are using r-forge to create a package. My query is that how do I keep the change log updated. I created the change log by doing the following: svn log -v>./inst/changelog Also if I do svn add ./inst/changelog and svn commit -m "Adding changelog" then the changelog is one version behind in the commit history. How do I solve this? Regards Vikram [[alternative HTML version

Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
What keeps happening to us is that we end up requiring older or patched versions of Qt, which makes it challenging to be synced to whatever version of Qt happens to be in Debian/Ubuntu. Essentially we often need to vendor Qt, and that isn't something that is compatible with being in the standard Debian or Ubuntu repos (but may be compatible with Snaps or other packaging/bundling standards).

update MASS
I'd like to update MASS from version 7.2-11 to version 7-2.19. I am running R 2.0.1 on ubuntu, that installs MASS with the package r-cran-vr. I have tried doing update.packages(), and I get a list of packages that I could update, but none is called MASS. I have tried the following too, right after launching emacs, but to no avail. <QUOTE> > update.packages("MASS") trying

FLAC 1.3.1 changelog?
As we?re talking 1.3.1 release, I?ve been keeping track of a couple of changes that I feel should be included in the changelog and that I might as well share here. The things between brackets are just to refresh memories, I?d leave them out of the actual changelog. * Improved efficiency of 24 bit decoding. optim() for ordered logit model with parallel regression assumption
Dear R listers, I am learning the MLE utility optim() in R to program ordered logit models just as an exercise. See below I have three independent variables, x1, x2, and x3. Y is coded as ordinal from 1 to 4. Y is not yet a factor variable here. The ordered logit model satisfies the parallel regression assumption. The following codes can run through, but results were totally different from what I

Where is MASS
Dear List: I have been using the MASS package until 5 minutes ago. I just updated some packages from CRAN, something happened and R crashed. I then started R again and tried to source in some code that calls MASS, but received an error that there is not a package called MASS. I then went to install packages from CRAN and MASS was not visible as an option and I then went to the CRAN website and

hypothetical prediction after polr
Dear R-Help listers, I am trying to estimate an proportional odds logistic regression model (or ordered logistic regression) and then make predictions by supplying a hypothetical x vector. However, somehow this does not work. I guess I must have missed something here. I first used the polr function in the MASS package, and I create a data frame and supply it to the predict function (see below):

Updated mass package on CRAN
Hi, I've converted all functions etc. from V&R's MASS library to R ... everything's in mass_5.2pl005-2.tar.gz in the devel section of CRAN. Below is the README: ********************************************************** This is a first shot at porting the whole main section of V&R's MASS library to R --- and only for cool people with a brave heart :-) Porting was done
