Win2k client is recognising the domain but is unable to logon . It
asks for the usrname/passwd , which usrname/passwd am i supposed to
give here . As shown in the smb.conf file below, admin user is set to
'student ' , but it does not accept this username , says ' unknown
username or bad password '. Earlier the trust account of the client

Y-axis range in histograms
Hi,
I'm trying to create a histogram with R. The problem is that the frequency
is high for a couple of x-axis categories (e.g. 1500) and low for most of
the x-axis categories (e.g. 50)
http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/file/n2237476/LK3_hist.jpg . When I create the
histogram, it is not very informative, because only the high frequencies can
be seen clearly. Is there any way I could cut the

Unable to access share on Encrypted Partition
Hi,
I would like some help. I am trying to set-up a share on an Encrypted
Partition of my Home Server.
I'm using opensuse 11.4 with samba version
3.5.7-3.5.1-2573-SUSE-SL11.4-i386.
This is something that I know has worked with earlier versions of openSuSE
and samba.
My smb.conf looks like this:
==START==
[global]
workgroup = buffalonet
passdb backend = tdbsam
printing = cups

for a guest accessing host "full disk", how to prevent host vgscan
Hi All.
I have a dell system with a H700 raid. Within the hardware RAID config
I've created a "virtual disk" which I have assigned to one of my
guests. On the host the device is "/dev/sdb", on the guest it's "/dev/vdb".
This works fine.
Within the guest, we have created lvm PV on /dev/vdb (using the whole
disk - no partitions) and created a volume

((AllowUsers || AllowGroups) && !(AllowUsers && AllowGroups))
Hey everyone,
After discussing the AllowGroups I think I've discovered a bug.
The system is a solaris 8 system and the problem is that when I use
AllowGroups with no AllowUsers args, the proper actions happen. Same
with AllowUsers and no AllowGroups. When I try to combine the two, none
of the Allow directives seem to take.
Is it just me or maybe a bug?

AllowUsers Change
Markus, ignore the other stuff I sent.. I need to go back to bed and stop
trying to code.. <sigh>
For everone else.. Will this make everyone happy?
This does the follow.
it will always honor AllowUsers.
If there is no Allow/DenyGroups it stated they are not in allowUsers. IF
there are AllowDenyGroups it tries them. And then stated they are not in
either AllowUsers nor AllowGroups

CVS over SSH
Hi there
I'm running a samba cvs server in a windows domain with a W2K PDC. I want to authenticate windows users through ssh. I'm able to login with a windows user to the server on the server himself but when I want to login via a windows client It doesn't work. The connection is refused. Could it be something mis configured in my ssh pam module.
This is my pam ssh module

more flexible AllowUsers/DenyUsers syntax
Hi,
I hope this is the right place for a feature request.
I'd like to have more flexible AllowUsers/DenyUsers synax.
I am in a situation, where I have machines connected to three
networks (a private, high speed, a public, and a private vpn) and I'd
like to enable root logins only on the private networks. Currently I
see no way of doing this, because there is no way to specify a

Winbind/RH7.1...More Help
The winbind now works...my getent passwd & groups returns the domain
users/groups
What should be the next step? my clients (Win2K & Win9x) are still
prompting for a password and I cannot login to my linux box using
DOMAIN*domainuser.
Must I add each domain user as a user on the linux box?

Problem, possibly bug with AllowUsers & DenyUsers
Hi there,
I have just compiled openssh-5.0 on Solaris 10, and am trying to set up
a certain pattern of user access control. Essentially, regular users
should be able to login from any network, while root should be able to
login only from a private network 192.168.88.0/22. Actually, for the
purpose of sshd_config, this is four networks, but that's another story...
Here is what I tried:

PermitRoot without-password doesn't work if AllowUsers user1 user2 set, but root not included; Also some bug in auth.c (Me thinks)
Hi list!
I have some machines running openssh 3.9p1.
AllowUsers is set to my users, that are allowed to login.
If I set PermitRoot without-password, but do not include root in AllowUsers,
root is not able to login with pubkey. I do not want to set root in
AllowUsers, since the without-password option should check this allready, I
think... So I made a small patch that allows me to login as root

Samba 2.0 RedHat/PAM password troubles found and solved!
I tried upgrading from samba 1.9 to 2.0 on two seperate RedHat servers,
and after both upgrades nobody could get authenticated. The windows boxes
had the registry hacks to turn off encrypted passwords, and I'm
authenticating out of passwd+shadow.
I found many similiar posts on DejaNews and in the samba mailing list
archives.
I broke out strace and found the problem.
