Storing output of loop into list()
Hello. I am trying to store the output from a loop into a matrix. Failed so far, thanks for the help. What I want to store into a new matrix: (just run the code once): temps<-rnorm(400,14,0.05) ttind<-NULL for(ti in 1:(length(temps)-9)) { if(temps[ti]-temps[ti+9] >= 0.1 && max(temps[ti]-temps[ti+1:9]) > -0.05) ttind<-c(ttind,ti) } for(ti in 1:length(ttind)) {

[SPAM] RE: Encoding audio sampled at 44.1 khz?
________________________________ Hi David, Thank you very much for your reply. Since I need to resample the audio in the program itself, I decided to try out the resampling API in speex. But now, I have another problem. The resampled sound is very much distorted and clicks appear quite often. (I have attached the source code I used for testing it below). The test data I had was a file sampled

Trouble passing list or non-list to function using ...
Hello, Simply put, I'm trying to call a function "testme" with value "age=NA". I wish to use "dotlist<-list(...)" inside the function and have dotlist become: $age [1] NA I'm modifying existing code and need to minimize changing that code so it's easiest to conform how I call the existing function. My sample code fragment, results, and R.version

deparse(substitute(x)) on an object with S3 class
Dear list, can someone explain to me why deparse(substitute(x)) does not seem to work when x is of a user-defined S3 class? In my actual problem, my print method is part of a package, and the method is registered in the NAMESPACE, if that should make a difference. > print.testclass <- function(x,...){ xname <- deparse(substitute(x)) cat("Your object name

How to use a for loop to generate two sequences

package "tm" fails to remove "the" with remove stopwords
I am using code that previously worked to remove stopwords using package "tm". Even manually adding "the" to the list does not work to remove "the". This package has undergone extensive redevelopment with changes to the function syntax, so perhaps I am just missing something. Please see my simple example, output, and sessionInfo() below. Thanks! glitch in building R package
I follow Alan Lenarcic's very helpful tutorial on building R package for Windows (XP), which could be found in www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/stuff_for_blog/AlanRPackageTutorial.pdf<http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/stuff_for_blog/AlanRPackageTutorial.pdf>. The package involves a small dll compiled from some very simple C++ codes. The build process seemed to work smoothly, until i

Building Custom GUIs for R
I am looking to build simple GUIs based on the R codes I have. The main objective is to hide the scary R codes from non-programming people and make it easier for them to try out different inputs. For example, 1. The GUI will have means to upload a csv file which will be read by the R code. 2. A button to preprocess data (carried out by a R function behind) 3. A button to build some models

Encoding audio sampled at 44.1 khz?
Hi everyone, I recently began using libspeex 1.2 Beta 1 on Windows using MS Visual C++. I have gotten a decoder and an encoder to work fine from the excellent sample code posted at the website. But I face a problem. I am working on using Speex in a program to play and create audio books encoded using Speex (currently testing it only; for these tests, I do not use Ogg to save the encoded

Wine install problem - undefined reference to `bMenuVisible'
I installed 1.1.6 and it was working fine except for one application. I installed 0.9.32 after changing my .wine directory to .wine_bak. (someone mentioned that they had got my application to work on the older version). The application still didn't work, so I changed my .wine directory to .wine932, and changed my .wine_bak to .wine. At that point I expected everything to be back to where I had

LSA package: problem with textmatrix()
I have a problem with the textmatrix() function of the LSA package whenever I specify 'removeNumbers=TRUE'. The data for the function are stored in a directory LSAwork which consists of a series of files that houses the text in column form. As long as removeNumbers = FALSE or it is not present the textmatrix function works just fine. The error message I get seems to suggest it is

Query about memory used in list and dataframe
Hi, I had a query regarding which object, a list or a dataframe, consumes more R memory. Let me clarify this: For example, I have a df of 6 rows and 12 columns, say 'test'. I do object.size() and find it uses 3.3 KB of memory. I run a loop and make a list, say 'testlist', of 6 elements, each element being the above mentioned df 'test'. The size of this list is 19.9 KB,

Reference Class import() behaviour
Dear All, In a project I've been working on we've been using Reference Classes and grid extensively. However, something that I have come across is that when using the import() method on refclass objects, it does not work as expected with grid grobs and viewports. I have prepared test cases that illustrate the point but the general idea is that importing appears to work fine for
