No. But it has not been posted either. You got that message because you sent your message to the wrong address. You should have sent it to r-help at r-project.org You had probably sent it to r-help-request at r-project.org which would have had the effect that the server would have tried to interpret the contents of you message as commands (e.g. to unsubscribe, change your subscription

Compiling only some C files
Dear R-users, I am currently writing an R package that contains three C++ files in the src/ source directory When i issue a R CMD check pkge_name, all the *.cpp files in the src/ directory will be compiled through something like (seen in 00install.out file): * Installing *source* package 'pkge_name' ... ** libs g++ -I/usr/lib/R/include -I/usr/lib/R/include -I/usr/local/include -c

Understand Ncells and Vcells, from gc()
Dear all, I am working on a 64 bits Linux system. I issue the following R commands: > rm(list=ls()) # To remove all objects in the workspace. > gc() # To free memory. used (Mb) gc trigger (Mb) max used (Mb) Ncells 124250 6.7 350000 18.7 350000 18.7 Vcells 124547 1.0 786432 6.0 476934 3.7 > gc() # I had to do it again, don't know why! used (Mb) gc trigger (Mb) max used (Mb) Ncells

bug: wireframe and tcltk
Dear R users, When i call the wireframe function from within a tcltk widget, it does not work. Here is a sample program that shows the bug. When you try: is.it.a.bug() You can see that the "curve" instruction is run but not the "wireframe" one. Do you have an explanation about this point? microsoft proxy & R project
hi, as I'm using R at Dell (where I am working), I manage to install packages from web, but there is a web proxy, which is pretty boring. R asks me to enter an active directory login/password, that would normally auth me through the web proxy, but it doesn't work. I'm looking forward for your help. Sorry if I used bad english. Any ideas ? Laurent -- «Un peu d'internationalisme

pseudo-R2 or GOF for regression trees?
Hello, Is there an accepted way to convey, for regression trees, something akin to R-squared? I'm developing regression trees for a continuous y variable and I'd like to say how well they are doing. In particular, I'm analyzing the results of a simulation model having highly non-linear behavior, and asking what characteristics of the inputs are related to a particular

problem compiling on a SParc4 Sun4m Solaris2.6
I am working with Solaris 2.6 and with the version of openssh 2.9.9-p2 I was able to compile for a UltraSpar 5 Sun4u with no problem. Question about Rweb
Greetings, I am working on creating an interactive website that will generate R-code for users based in the information they input on the site. Currently, the R-code can be generated and downloaded to be run locally on a computer with R. However, I have noticed a number of applications out there that instead submit the code directly to an R-web server. Some examples seem to be:

real eigenvectors
Hello list, Sorry, these questions are not directly linked to R. If I consider an indefinte real matrix, I would like to know if the symmetry of the matrix is sufficient to say that their eigenvectors are real ? And what is the conditions to ensure that eigenvectors are real in the case of an asymmetric matrix (if some conditions exist)? Thanks in Advance, St?phane DRAY

Multiple operations on list
Hello, suppose I have a list with matrices: a=list(x1=matrix(rnorm(10),5,2),x2=matrix(rnorm(10),5,2),x3=matrix(rnorm(10),5,2)) I want to compute for all combination of xi and xj (x1,x2 x1,x3 and x2,x3) a value. This value is given for the pair x1,x2 by trace(x1%*%t(x1)%*%x2%*%t(x2)) / trace(x1%*%t(x1))*trace(x2%*%t(x2)) I know that product matrices t(xi)%*%xi can be obtained by:

orthonormalization with weights
Hello List, I would like to orthonormalize vectors contained in a matrix X taking into account row weights (matrix diagonal D). ie, I want to obtain Z=XA with t(Z)%*%D%*%Z=diag(1) I can do the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization with subsequent weighted regressions. I know that in the case of uniform weights, qr can do the trick. I wonder if there is a way to do it in the case of non uniform

Rcmd ?
Hi, I tried running Rcmd.exe to no avail. It doesn't even start because it tries to read some memory address that NT says it can't and terminate. I tried downloading and reinstalling rw1020sp.zip with the installer twice just in case it got corrupted somehow in transport but it resulted in the same problem. What should I do? platform i386-pc-mingw32 arch x86 os Win32 system

Redrawing !
Hi, If I may suggest that something be done to the window drawing function of a plot. As it is now, we don't even have time to resize the window by a tiny bit before it's invoke and I think it would be an improvement if while the mouse is down the redrawing was delayed somehow. This is especially true when the plot is crowded. I also observed that moving the plot window around was a lot

Debian/squeeze: domU live migraton hangs
Hi, In view of the problems I was having with DomU network timeout after a live migration (I posted that problems here a while ago but never got anything except from private emails) I finally updated my Debian/Squeeze Dom0s last night to a new kernel, from 2.6.32-23 to 2.6.32-26. Now live migration just hangs...Any ideas? Xen-related Debian packages (all from Debian repositary, except drbd

multivariate simulation
To whom it may concern, I try to simulate a non-normal multivariate distribution. The MASS package allows by mean of "mvrnorm" command to perform a multivariate normal simulation. Is there an equivalent command for an arbitrary multivariate distribution available in the R-language? Thank you in advance.
