permission problem when using public namespace and "subscription = yes"
I have configured an public namespace "Test" for a group of users: | namespace public { | separator = . | prefix = Test. | location = maildir:/mailroot/public/Test | hidden = no | list = yes | subscriptions = yes | } Using each users own subscription file for a public mailbox doesn't make sense when the mailbox is heavily used. Every directory operation

Wrong message information reported shortly after delivery
Hi, If an IMAP fetch is issued some "short" time after a message was delivered with dovecot deliver then dovecot reports wrong (zero) values for that new message. Afterward, it reports the information OK. This causes problems to our IMAP client. The problem is easily reproduced with a large message on a slow machine. I'm using dovecot 1.0.10 Here's a sample trace: 1 uid fetch

[PATCH] Bad boundary check in client_find_namespace
Hi, while trying to investigate the bug I reported last week, I found that there is a broken boundary check in client_find_namespace in src/imap/imap-commands-util.c. The code is: /* make sure two hierarchy separators aren't next to each others */ for (p = storage_name+1; *p != '\0'; p++) { if (p[0] == ns->real_sep && p[-1] == ns->real_sep) {

Assertion failure in maildir-mail.c for gzipped maildir files in 1.1.15
I attempted an upgrade from 1.1.7 to 1.1.15 and encountered an apparent regression in handling gzipped maildir files. I have tried to narrow down the conditions under which it happens and reproduce it with as simple a case as possible. The actual mail application that exposed this problem is Squirrelmail. Starting off with the index files removed from the "Folder" maildir directory: *

still getting weird .{inbox} folder creations with latest -test7
Hi, I am still getting strange creation and mailbox lookups from 0.99.11-test7. dovecot creates in ~/Maildir/ .INBOX/ .imap.index .imap.index.cache .imap.index.log .customflags dovecot-uidlist .INBOX seems to be a reference to ~/Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} yet I

dovecot-stable: NIL from in envelope request
Using the latest dovecot-stable (20050213) with pine, I get an empty "from" header in my e-mails. This doesn't happen with 1.0.59-test, nor did it happen with the first dovecot-stable (20050131). A partial connection log is below: 1.0-test59: IMAP DEBUG 15:23:32 2/13: 00000007 FETCH 1:41 (UID ENVELOPE BODY.PEEK[HEADER.FIELDS (Newsgroups Content-MD5 Content-Disposition

Problem with fts found against Dovecot hg; examples + trace attached
I've been wanting to try out Squat for full-text indexing for a while now, so I finally gave it a whirl. I did a fresh pull from hg. I have it enabled, but it's taking *forever* to do a query. (Using alpine, I issued a Select command for all messages with some word anywhere, which presumably caused the Squat indexer to run.) I think Dovecot is infinite looping. I thought something

Test migration (IMAP copy) and INTERNALDATE?
We're trying some migration tests ... from CommuniGate to Dovecot. The migration program does an APPEND into the new mailbox: src>: a0 FETCH 2900 (FLAGS INTERNALDATE RFC822.PEEK) src<: * 2900 FETCH (FLAGS (\Seen) INTERNALDATE "29-Aug-2005 18:36:54 +0000" RFC822 {1194157} src<: ) dst>: bAPP APPEND "INBOX" (\Seen) "29-Aug-2005 18:36:54 +0000" {1194157}

dovecot and evolution
I am using dovecot 0.99.13 and Evolution 2.0.2 on Fedora Core 3. Recently, Ximian stopped being able to access my local INBOX via IMAP, failing with the following error: Error while Opening folder imap://malsyned at localhost/INBOX. Incomplete server response: no information provided for message 1. I got a transcript of the conversation between Evolution and dovecot. The relavent section

[patch] Re: Test migration (IMAP copy) and INTERNALDATE?]
I haven't been able to find what is responsible for altering the time on APPENDed mail, but was able to come up with a temporary workaround ... simply calling utime() later on in the process resolves it. Below is my patch. Steve --- dovecot-1.0.beta7-orig/src/lib-storage/index/maildir/maildir-save.c 2006-03-25 05:53:43.000000000 -0500 +++

Dovecot response to "FETCH" command
Hi folks. I just converted my site from UW+mbox to dovecot+maildir (stable-test59, 2005/02/25). For the most part, everything is great. The server seems faster and less memory intense than the UW server (this part has made me very happy). And it's definitely more user friendly to me than Courier. There is one thing however... A few of my users are using the web based mail reader

IMAP: Disconnected: BUG: Unknown internal error (Dovecot 1.0.3)
Hi, I am getting the following error in the server mail logfile: > Sep 2 18:39:44 h648123 dovecot: IMAP(<account>)(<PID>): Disconnected: BUG: Unknown internal error (mail_debug is on, but there is not really much context for this in the log file, ie. no log events for several minutes, and then it appears, all of a sudden). On the client side, it looks like this (with some

Outlook2010 + dovecot-1.2.10 - UID FETCH 0 (xxx) Error
Hi all, I'm not so sure it is about to dovecot, but any thoughts will be appreciated. I have an email account configured as IMAP(dovecot-1.2.10) via outlook 2010. If I'm creating a *new* mailbox folder, for example "ttt", and *copying* a mail into *that* mailbox folder, then an error message window will be displayed. The problem caused by C:UID FETCH 0 (UID FLAGS

Spaces removed from subjects in FETCH response
I'm using SpamAssassin to tag spam and prefix the spam score to the subject line. To make the scores sort properly in the client's message list, I pad the score with spaces to right-align it. It looks like dovecot-0.99.10.9-1.FC3.2 is frustrating this by stripping the excess spaces from the subject before reporting it in FETCH responses. Here's an actual subject line: Subject:

Dovecot/IMP Bug with RFC822.SIZE and BODYSTRUCTURE
Ok, I have narrowed my IMP/Dovecot attachment problem down to what I think is a bug in Dovecot. The test that follow are performed on 0.99.11. When you download an attachment in IMP it uses the php function imap_fetchbody() which contacts the IMAP server and retrieves just the mime chunk you are looking for. It does this by first fetching some information about the email, and then grabs the
