Using Thunderbird as local mail reader
Hi! I'm trying to figure out how to use Thunderbird as a local mail reader. So far I don't see any way to configure it other than as a POP3 or IMAP mail reader, but I get my mail locally and would like to try using Tbird to read it. What am I overlooking? Thanks in advance! -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us ------------------------ ---- Do you

Thunderbird very slow startup, 1.2.11, mbox, postfix local delivery to /var/mail
I've Google'd to exhaustion and can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I'm not sure if the problem is TBird 3 or my Dovecot setup. The basic problem is that when I launch TBird and it grabs messages upon startup, it takes forever to supposedly pull them down. Once it's got them they sort relatively quickly into the proper IMAP (dovecot) folders. I don't use sieve

Notch Filter in AEC
Hi, The notch filter in AEC is only used to remove DC signal, and the time of convergence is not important, right? If so, I think preset value of notch_radius is too small, and it causes noticeable distortion(freq < 200hz cut). There is a picture in attachment to show signals under different radius in time-domain. By setting notch_radius to 0.999 for all sampling rates, I found better

clicking on link in Thunderbird fails to open page in Firefox
This worked fine for years until I updated firefox and thunderbird recently. Now, however, when I click on a link in an email in thunderbird, rather than open the indicated webpage in firefox, nothing at all happens. network.protocol-handler.app.http in tbird's about:config specifies the executable /usr/lib/thunderbird/open-browser.sh and running the latter at the CLI with a URL as an

Thunderbird message cache out of sync after repetitive rsyncs...
Ok, hopefully there is a solution to this. I've been experimenting with multiple rsyncs in preparation for pulling the trigger on the mail server switch, but have a problem that I really want to fox before doing so. Apparently something causes Thunderbirds local message cache to get out of sync with dovecot after a sync. Here is the series of commands I'm running: 1. stop postfix,

thunderbird sane config (OT)
Does anyone have any experience putting together a sane config for Thunderbird in an automated fashion? Automated meaning "simple to distribute to users". -- (Background: I'm currently experiencing that Thunderbird does not work against Postfix/Dovecot because the wizard interface for setting up an account does not accept TLS-only servers. Users just sit there with a broken

Thunderbird slow in talking with dovecot IMAP AND to sendmail
I'm trying to find out what's causing this slowdown -- it's INTOLERABLE.... over 1 minute and less than 1% done. (400MB file)... After trying 3 times, I gave up and logged in using X to the server and ran Tbird from there.... Mail sent out in < 1 minute, though the copy to dovecot took about 50% longer. So... I looked at the network trace. and everyfrackin' body was

1.0rc3 problem w/ Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 on Mac OS X
Howdy, I'm very excited about the new dovecot release because I've been having problems with a hang on saving messages to my sent-mail box over imap+ssl. I installed 1.0rc3 over my 1.0rc2 install on FreeBSD 5.3 in the same manner as all the other upgrades I've done. After checking my email, tbird became nonresponsive and I saw this repeating in my logs ad infinitum: Aug 2 10:17:10

Notch Filter in AEC
Hi, But in fact, it really affects the voice quality. One of my tester says, "Is your mouth far way from the mic?" Could you explain why we should cut 200hz below? >The notch filter is specifically designed to cut below 200 Hz when >working in narrowband. In wideband, the cutoff is more around 50 Hz. The >reason is that in narrowband operation (irrespective of the

thunderbird crashed-mail_max_userip
thunderbird just crashed, and I've never seen this before. Any idea what happened? this was in the dovecot log: 2010-12-02 13:06:40 imap-login: Info: Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections): user=<pbc>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, secured 2010-12-02 13:06:40 imap-login: Info: Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded

opusenc equivalent of lame presets
Are there comparable presets or recommendations for opusenc vbr parameters? lame --preset standard --> opusenc ??? lame --preset extreme --> opusenc ??? I have used opusenc without custom vbr parameters and the files were much smaller than for lame's standard preset but I can't answer if that's comparable or the result was lossier in opus. Hearing tests of course show no

Notch Filter in AEC
Hi Jean-Marc, You make that sound like its just a matter of meeting some arbitrary spec. Let's be more specific..... If you use narrow band voice down to deep bass frequencies: - 16 bit linear audio sounds good - alaw or ulaw sounds muddy - low bit rate codecs, like speex or G.729, sound awful. I assume QinBin only listened to some uncompressed audio in his evaluation.

Why Rice order in "--best" switch is limited to 6?
No, FFMPEG uses its own FLAC encoder/decoder, based on Flake source code, that based on FLAC reference encoder/decoder source code. Yes, I agree that "optimal"? values for reference encoder/decoder may differ "optimal"? values for FFMPEG's encoder/decoder. But we're talking about the "highest reasonable" values, not "optimal". >>>>>

Combining Custom and Preset Linetypes
Dear R-Users, I created the xyplot below using 10 groups (9 groups + 'Total' of all groups) with lty=1:10. I need the 'Total' to be a bold solid line (lty=1) where as the 9 groups just need to be distinguishable from each other. As you can probably see, when the group reaches CRA6 the lty starts from 1 again. I have tried to specify ten unique lines using lty=

some EAQUAL results
For those who are interested, I've run 3 EAQUAL tests on both the LAME and OGG encoders: LAME with the --alt-standard preset (with and without --nspsytune) and OGGENC (RC3) with -q 6 (my personal "sweet spot") I am somewhat unsure though about the validity of these tests, since the original and decoded files were not the same size (2 KB difference). The LAME encoded files were also
