Hi, I am trying to set up Dovecot with sdbox and sis (single instance storage of attachments), however I get the following error when attempting to start dovecot: Starting Dovecot Imap: doveconf: Fatal: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf line 89: Unknown setting: dbox_attachment_dir I'd appreciate help on getting this up and running. mail-migration with dovadm sync/backup and mail_attachment_dir
I need to run a mail-migration from a Dovecot with mail_attachment_dir / single instance storage enabled. As mailboxes and mail_attachment_dir are rsynced I would normally run a doveadm backup -u <user> -R -d dbox:<path to rsynced mailbox>/dbox How can I tell it the mail_attachment_dir the rsynced source / (reverse) destination uses? Or do I have to start a Dovecot process and use

zpool labelclear destroys GPT data
When i use zpool labelclear, it wipes the whole disk including gpt data. So the whole disk is empty and i need to create the gpt partitions again. Is this supposed to work like this? The man page suggests that it only wipes the ZFS metadata. zpool labelclear [-f] device Removes ZFS label information from the specified device. The device must not be part of an active pool

Attachments not removed from single store
Hi. Well, I've the next problem. I turned on the new attachment de-duplication stuff in the configuration. If I send an attchment between two accounts on my test system, the attment gets saved ion the configured mail_attachment_dir. But... if I delete it from the senders Send folder and the receivers Inbox (and of course empty Trash afterwards in both cases), the hashes and the attachment

BUG report: dbox movealt doesn't move reverse (to default location)
Hi, Here is the problem that occured: #sudo doveadm -D altmove -u vv at vito.pp.ua all works properly and moves all storage to alt dir. However, to move it back to default storage I add '-r' by manual: #sudo doveadm -D altmove -u vv at vito.pp.ua -r all That seems behave like the original command ignoring '-r'. my dovecot conf: # 2.3.4.1 (f79e8e7e4): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf

Stability of extraction of attachment
Hello, We are migrating our dovecot servers from 2.1.9 to 2.1.15 (or 2.2 if there is a stable version soon) and maildir format to mdbox. Looking for mdbox options I have found options: * mail_attachment_dir * mail_attachement_min_size * mail_attachment_fs * mail_attachment_hash but this options are described with the message: # WARNING: This feature hasn't been tested much yet. Panic on alway_bcc mail with attachment while using sdbox
I do always get a panic on service lmtp, while receiving a mail by postfix through always_bcc, containing an attachment. If the bcc recipient would be supplied by a small delay, I would say that the panic wouldn't occur, but I don't know how to verify this. dovecot is configured with 'mail_attachment_dir' and the public namespace location is sdbox dovecot log: Aug 6 14:18:02

mdbox with mail_attachment_dir per user in 2.2.12
Hello, we have 2 netapp arrays with 2 volumes and we need to store our mail data in one or other volume for every user. We want keep data for one user in one volume only. So we would like to have 2 separate mail_attachment_dir, one on every volume. But in latest version 2.2.12 it look like it is only possible to set one global mail_attachment_dir. I have an idea with 2 separate dovecot

Rsync to backup dbox with SIS
We will be deploying a replacement Dovecot server soon, and we are planning to use maildir for the primary storage, but with an archive namespace using mdbox (or perhaps sdbox), and SIS. Our backup servers and (luke)warm spare server need to obtain full copies of the mail store. For the maildirs I know I can simply use rsync (we already use it here). I'm a little wary of using rsync with

where are stored attachments
Based on this you are not using SIS, so I wonder if those are some old emails when you were using SIS? Can you provide an example corpus of such mail? You can use e.g. https://www.dovecot.org/tools/dbox-anonymize.pl https://www.dovecot.org/tools/maildir-obfuscate.pl https://www.dovecot.org/tools/mbox-anonymize.pl https://www.dovecot.org/tools/mdbox-obfuscate.pl to obfuscate the mail. dovecot 2.3.7.2-1~bionic: Performance issues caused by excessive IO to ~/mdbox/mailboxes/INBOX/dbox-Mails/dovecot.index.tmp
I set up system copying all mails to a backup system. This used to work without a hitch - now in the last few days mails would pile up in the Postfix Queue, waiting to be delivered using the lmtp transport into dovecot. So dovecot was being slow, but why? After all, nothing changed. After reading some articles on stackoverflow I found a way of finding out which file gets the most IO: % sysdig

(Single instance) attachment storage with single-dbox
Just a note to myself and whoever else cares, should be added to wiki once it has its own page about this: With single-dbox messages can be copied with hard linking. This means that there can be multiple files that point to the same attachment file. The attachment is now deleted only once the mail file's link count drops to zero, so this works fine.. ..until someone goes and starts manually

Multiuser attachment storage (mail_attachment_dir)
Was trying to set up attachment storage, but folders are receiving permission only for current user, so if another user is receiving a mail with same attachment he is getting permission denied error on reading hash file. Is it possible to setup global attachment storage to work with all users, at least in domain? mail_access_groups won't help, as folders are given 0 group permission. Umask and

where are stored attachments
Sorry, I have checked before I wrote first post. Based on docs - the path should be in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf or /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf (I have Ubuntu 16.04 LTS). I have some familiar lines in 10-mail.conf: #mail_attachment_dir = #mail_attachment_min_size = 128k #mail_attachment_fs = sis posix #mail_attachment_hash = %{sha1} but all these lines are commented out. So - in theory -

SIS: dovecot creates duplicated attachments (sometimes)
SIS deduplication was broken in 2.2.16 and has been fixed with https://github.com/dovecot/core/commit/3b39022ea0513363241cf852b7d454c841584ea1 but still sometimes (just several times in a month or so) dovecot creates duplicated attachments. As you can see in directory listings below all attachments was created at (about) the same time, but one of them has different inode number. It easy to
