dovecot 1.0.15 upgrading to dovecot 1.1.x or 1.2.x, and POP3 UIDL issue
Hi, We're upgrading a cluster of servers from v1.0.15 to v1.1.x or v1.2.x. It appears that the UIDL generation mechanism has changed, and thus we'll be getting POP3 dups with users that leave mail on server (which is a nasty practice, I know). From checking the sources, and performing a number of controlled tests in various scenarios, here is the outcome: upgrade from 1.0.15 to

login_* options for 1.0.15
Hello all, Although i'm aware that version 1.0.15 is rather old, that's what is used in Lenny, so... Either way, the setup is rather simple, regular dovecot install, with maildirs residing on a "local" ext3 filesystem accessed through FC to a SAN (2Gbps link). The server has 2 cores (with HT), so "almost" 4 cores and 3GB of ram. A couple weeks ago we had a major

Which was how I was able to write and run the rsync script. I think at this point, I'm past

mailtrain with dovecot antispam plugin
Hello all, and Johannes if you're around, I was trying to set up the "new" antispam plugin with the mailtrain backend, and i was trying to use the sendmail binary that's part of a qmail system. The message wouldn't get sent and i kept getting exit error 100 from the /var/qmail/bin/sendmail binary. To try to figure out what was happening, i mean a fake sendmail program,

SSL/TLS with Outlook client
I am trying to get TLS to work with Outlook 2007 and I've hit a small problem. Whenever I start it up, I get this error: "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect." (yes/no choice of trusting) I first tried with a wildcard cert (*.elisand.com), and then tried with mail.elisand.com - both certs

looking for feedbacks on courier to dovecot
Manao ahoana, Hello, Bonjour, We currently run courier POP . We would like to switch to Dovecot. I encounter problems when migrating the UIDL because we have big Maildirs and POP re-downlading the data is not possible for most of the users. I tried the http://www.dovecot.org/tools/courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script but I still have the re-downloading event. What are your stories and advices

IMAP Migration Tools
Hi, I am looking for tools to migrate Mails from one IMAP-Server to another. Until now I have always used imapsync, but it seems very slow. Even over a 2x10GB/s connection I only get speeds of about 600KiB/s, because the programm always pauses betweeen every single mail. Does anyone here have a suggestion for an alternative? Thanks in advance Julian

I've recently migrated a server with imapsync with 150Gb of email and 200+ accounts. I found the trick with this was the run imapsync in several runs: Messages older than 1 year; messages older than 6 months; messages

Dovecot UIDs and POP.
Hi, I recently performed a mail server migration for a client under fairly serious time constraints (ahem, yes one of those jobs). I would normally use imapsync to get all the mail copied to the new server, but under the circumstances, I had to write a script to rsync each of the mailboxes over ssh, from one server to another. This all worked fine, except for the fact that if a client was using

Using account alias as login
Hello, I use dovecot with a LDAP backend for user account and aliases. The aliases are objects of the class couriermailalias. Some users would like to use the alias address as POP/IMAP login instead of the 'true' account. Is this possible?. I am using dovecot version 1.0,10, from ubuntu hardy packages. Thanks for any answer, Javier
