vacation plugins for squirrelmail
Hi, I am afraid I have a question to ask of you all. I have just completed setting up a mail server running on Ubuntu Server 10.04. It has postfix, dovecot 1.2.19, LDAP and squirrelmail as the webmail. I have also created virtual users accounts on the system through LDAP. I can send and receive mails which is great. Now, what I am trying to do is to set up a vacation auto-reply on the

imap-login aborted login
Hi, I have been trying to set up Apache2, Postfix, Dovecot, openLDAP and squirrelmail on my Ubuntu Server 10.04 machine. The idea is to make use of the LDAP to authenticate users to login to squirrelmail to send/receive emails. I have been using the link - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Postfix/DovecotLDAP, as a guide to get it all set up. I have checked the status for postfix and dovecot,

Recipe for "admin-less restore"
Is there a way for setting up dovecot in such a way that a user can "jump back in time" to an old mailbox "state" in order to retrieve his accidentially deleted mail? -- Ralf Hildebrandt Gesch?ftsbereich IT | Abteilung Netzwerk Charit? - Universit?tsmedizin Berlin Campus Benjamin Franklin Hindenburgdamm 30 | D-12203 Berlin Tel. +49 30 450 570 155 | Fax: +49 30 450

Lazy expunge plugin
There's now a plugin called lazy_expunge in CVS. Instead of EXPUNGE expunging the mails directly, they're moved to a mailbox with same name in another namespace where user can still copy the mails back. Also DELETEd mailboxes are moved to another namespace. See http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Lazyexpunge for more information. This is similar to Cyrus's two phase expunge:

Cyrus to Dovecot migration (OS X Server): Backup + restore messages, live "standby server" and delayed expunge and…
Hi List, I am very close to migrating from Cyrus to Dovecot (to be more precise from Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 to 10.6.4). The latter is reporting the dovecotd version to be 1.1.20apple0.5. All I have read about dovecot is extremely positive so I am exited to make the switch. BACKUP: BUT I would like to be sure that I can make a sound backup strategy. For Cyrus i used topicdesk's mailbfr (a

permission denied, no logs
Hi, We have a sendmail/dovecot/squirrelmail installation that was working ok except for deleted files showing in the list with a [d] beside it. In trying to fix that issue, I apparently made a new error appear in the left navigation area: ERROR: Could not complete request. Query: CREATE "mail/Sent" Reason Given: [NOPERM] Permission denied There are no errors in dovecot, but from what

duplicate all emails for 'backup' after user deletes them?
I have a user who occasionally reads, then deletes emails using his phone, on his and others email accounts, causing emails deleted on mail server, then he says 'oops, can you recover emails I've deleted?' what's the best way to duplicate all emails to duplicate accounts ? backup folders ? so, next time he deletes emails they can be 'recovered' on the server ? I was

undelete messages?
I'm using the lazy expunge plugin as configured in: http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Lazyexpunge The page claims users can undelete messages without assistance from a sysadmin. How is this accomplished? When I try to subscribe to the folders under the EXPUNGED namespace, nothing happens. ~Cory Coager

Dovecot - Issue with Maildir++ quotas
Hi, I've been bitten by an issue running Squirrelmail on top of Dovecot using Maildir++ quotas. Having configured these quotas in Dovecot, I notice that Dovecot appears not to exclude the 'Trash' folder from its quota calculation (which it should do, according to the Maildir++ spec). Unfortunately this breaks Squirrelmail if I try to delete a message from a close-to-quota

only mark as deleted when deleted as default for some mailboxes
Hi list, i wonder if this is possible with some dovecot configuration. Selected mailboxusers will only mark their mails as deleted, when a mail is being deleted through any client. No automatic expunge. This is default behaviour in Outlook, and i think in Thunderbird too, but unfortunately not in Open-Xchange for example. So i was asking myself if it would be possible to simply turn this

Forcibly emptying a POP3 mailbox
Hello, I've recently saw a discussion on this list, about a standardised way of emptying POP3 mailboxes on the server - but no solution came up. Please provide a suggestion for the following situation: - I am running a stock POP3 dovecot server, on Fedora 12 (dovecot version 1.2.9) - passwd-file authentication via /etc/imap.passwd - users are virtual, sharing the same UID/GID; -

lazy_expunge questions
I'm messing around with lazy expunge and I just had a couple of questions. If I delete messages or folders with messages, I see them being moved to the expunge namespace, but if I delete an empty folder, all traces of it seem to disappear. Is there a way to move empty folders to the expunge namespace also? My second question is in regards to restoring folders. If I try to execute the imap

Two strange behaviours with dovecot+postfix+squirrelmail
Hi all, About a week ago I was forced to migrate my main (production) email server from RH9 to Centos4.1. The installation has dovecot-0.99.11 + postfix-2.1.5 and >600 mbox accessed email accounts. Number 1. Some users accessing thru squirremail (installed in my webserver) can read their INBOX at /var/spool/mail directory but when trying to delete a message they receive the following error

Received date on emails is wrong after file copying
Hi, I have installed a new mail server where I'm migrating from Courier to Dovecot. I have made a mistake when I was copying over the emails so the date/time mark on them is updated. So all my mails are now from the copy date/time and not the real receive time. I have tried to copy the emails over again, so they get the right date/time on the file level. And when I look at a single email in
