kickstart %pre help on C5.4
Hey folks! I'm doing some %pre work for the first time in a very long time, and have been at this all day so far and still don't have anything sorted out properly. First I tried just doing some simple bash stuff like this %pre #!/bin/bash # stuff I reduced "stuff" down to basically a simple "select" statement to echo and read input, just for the sake of debugging.

Cannot %include in CentOS 5.5 kickstart
I've previously used includes in CentOS 4.4 and they worked fine. But in CentOS 5.5, trying to specify a driver disk via an include does not work. If I instead specify it directly, it loads fine. When it fails (because it can't see the disk drive - needs the driver disk to see the hard disk), in Console 2 I can see that /tmp/drvdisk exists and has the line I wrote to it. I see nothing

Cluster installation CentOS 7.4 network problems
Hi there, after using Foreman successful on our clusters for more than a year. I'd like to reinstall a 90 node cluster with Centos 7.4. It's now running on Centos 7.3 . I'm not able to just update to 7.4 because of zfsonlinux dependencies and well - some nodes died and had to bare metal install them. So I was able to install these nodes successfully by pxe-booting and using a

startup config scripts for CentOS
On CentOS-based VM appliance I'm building, I would like to create a script that runs upon login that asks the user a series of questions that does (among other things) ask them to input their networking information (IP, mask, gate, DNS, etc). I'm hoping you guys might point me in the right direction. Here are some of the specific things I'm looking to accomplish with such a script.

slug of zombies
after booting a CentOS 4.2 system I have a bunch of zombies... root 2828 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 14:41 0:00 [chvt] <defunct> My read from googling this is chvt stems from something that involves a shell. They ***may*** have been created from my attempts to start mysqld which isn't working (I will start another thread) but no efforts to kill them off are working...

Kickstart Network Configuration Issues
Hello all, I've been struggling with an issue with my kickstart configuration for a while now. My kickstart files are stored within the initrd image. What I would like to do here, is when the kickstart first starts up, I want it to grab a DHCP address (it does at the moment) so it can grab all of the necessary installation data off the net. Then, at some point _IN_ the install process, I'd

what happened to netconfig in 5.1
I am doing a yum install netconfig on the new 5.1 and nothing gets installed. Was it removed? replaced with something else? yum provides netconfig does not show a "bin" command just false matches. Is there a new command? Thanks, Jerry

netconfig in 4.92
After installing 4.92 I wanted to run netconfig. It was not availble. I did "yum install netconfig" and got the package. What should I have selected in the "custom packages" at install time to get netconfig? Thanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Two ethernet adapters and more
I am running Asterisk at home on one of my systems here. It uses Centos 4.2. It does NOT have a GUI interface. Command line only at console or via SSH (yeah, I know that I was working on another server to get GUI tools working through SSH, but I am NOT going to muck with AAH build). yum update is potentially dangerous, when it replaces the kernel. You can loose all of your Zaptel driver

system-config-network on 5.1
Looks like there are NO command line options on system-config-network. Like -d eth0 or -d eth1 I used those alot when 2 network cards are in a box. Can netconfig be brought back to life? Can I just install the one from 5.0 on new boxes?\ Jerry

Asterisk@Home Install Problems
I am trying to install asterisk@home on a Dell 1650 server. The setup cd runs fine and completes with no errors but when I try to connect to the web site (http:myip/maint) to edit the configs nothing happens just a page not found error. I'm not sure if there is a problem with my dual on board nics but when I check ifconfig I see the dhcp address info that was assigned for eth0 and then

CentOS 6: /etc/init/start-ttys.conf ignored
hi why are tty3-tty6 started after this config change? i would like to have only tty1 finally becasue on a virtual machine there is no need for the other processes since CTRL+ALT+Fx is caught by the own system and remote console mostly not needed at all [root at centos ~]# cat /etc/init/start-ttys.conf # # This service starts the configured number of gettys. start on stopped rc RUNLEVEL=[2345]

Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings broken under xen 3.0.3-142.el5_9.1 / 2.6.18-348.1.1.el5xen?
I am not sure what I did, but for some reason Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings are broken on 64-bit xen desktop machine (but not on my laptop (32-bit, no xen)). Both machines are (mostly) up-to-date and running CentOS 5.9. I rarely hop to different Virtual Consoles (eg Ctrl-Alt-F1 ... Ctrl-Alt-F7), but today I wanted to go to the main console to watch some kernel verbage (I was checking something with

No module named snack
Hi everyone--I'm back on the list after some time not managing any Centos machines. It's good to be back. I'm trying to switch a server from sendmail to postfix. It's Centos 4.6. I installed postfix and system-switch-mail. When I run system-switch-mail, I get Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/sbin/system-switch-mail", line 89, in <module> main()

Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1] and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions: 1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping it can be manipulated as a group because occationally

network config files in centos 5 changing
What is happening in centos 5 with network config files??? I have a machine with 2 network cards. ifcfg-eth1 keeps changing to DHCP. All my static setup is gone. Why is it doing this? How can I stop it? I run "netconfig -d eth1" and re-setup my static information. I reboot and now I am back to DHCP. I have a gigabyte motherboard, nvidia chipset. forcedeth driver. eth0 is e1000.
