Problem with dovecot-lda
I have installed the dovecot 1.0 beta3 (package included with Ubuntu Dapper Drake) and everything is working very well. Next I wanted to try the dovecot lda (for sieve filtering). In postfix I have "mailbox_command = /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver" and I followed the instructions from http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA. I only changed "postmaster_address = postmaster@localdomain.local"

btrfsck: doesn't correct errors
Heyho! (This is using btrfs from Debian''s 2.6.32 2.6.32-3-kirkwood kernel (-9 package; btrfs tools is v0.19-16-g075587c) A few observations about btrfsck: a btrfsck run on a 2T volume (4 disks) on a QNAP appliance (512M ram) got killed by Mr. OOM Killer. Initially, I was quite surprised. I''m only moderately surprised now since it might well be that I forgot to enable

dovecot lda truncates messages
I'm running dovecot 1.0.rc2 (package from ubuntu 6.10) and use the dovecot lda 'deliver' (also a package from ubuntu 6.10 with sieve filtering) to deliver messages to maildir. Everything works well, until I discovered a truncated message this week. The problematic message is a message bounced by the majordomo mailinglist software. I think the problem is related to the fact that

'mgcv' package, problem with predicting binomial (logit) data
Dear R-help list, I?m using the mgcv package to plot predictions based on the gam function. I predict the chance of being a (frequent) participant at theater plays vs. not being a participant by age. Because my outcome variable is dichotomous, I use the binomial family with logit link function. Dataset in attachment, code to read it in R: data <- read.spss("pas_r.sav") attach(data)

how can I stress a server?
Hi all, I have a server, with an Intel DG35EC motherboard, Q9300 CPU, 8GB Kingston DDRII RAM which can't take a lot of load. I have 4 XEN VPS's on there, which doesn't consume more than 4GBM RAM at this stage. Yet, the machine sky rockets at some times. I've moved the XEN VPS's to another server, with 4GM RAM, and it doesn't cause the same problems. So, apart from

mgcv package plot superimposing smoothers
Dear R help list, I'm fitting a 'variable coefficient model' in the MGCV package and I want to plot the different smoothers I get for each factor level in one graph. So, I do something like this to fit the gam: Mtest <- gam(outcome ~ s(age, by=as.numeric(gender==0)) + s(age,by=as.numeric(gender==1))+factor(Gender)) Then I can plot the smoother for gender=0: plot(Mtest,select=1)

setting up CYBERPOWER CP1500PFCLCD
Hi, Another beginner question. I spend hours trying to find the solution for how to configure winnut properly but I' struggling to make it work. I want my QNAP NAS TS-231 to work as a master and send signal to the PC to shut it down during power outage. I configured QNAP properly (like this: http://geekbeat.tv/qnap-adding-external-devices-qnap), but I don't know what to do next. I work

accented characters in filenames mangled when rsyncing to a samba share
Hi folks, I am having a problem rsyncing files with accents in the names. I've seen similar problems reported a few times before in the archives but they didn't seem to be referring to exactly the same problem as what I have, and I'm not good enough at Linux to solve my problem by generalising from the information there: sorry. Anyway, my specific details are this. I am running rsync

Hello, I'm currently stuck with a QNAP NAS appliance (don't buy this !) I have a Sernet Samba 4.5 as an AD controller and my QNAP have a Samba 4.0.25 (latest update) All i want is to join the QNAP to the AD, the QNAP will act as the file server. The join in the official way is okay but the uid / gid mapping is f*cked. I tried almost everything, change the idmap,

Services not starting in 2.1 (or 2.2)
I'm trying to install Dovecot onto my QNAP NAS. I apologise for this! It means I'm not working in a normal environment, and don't (necessarily) have the normal range of tools available (or the most up to date version of those tools). It seems that 2.0.21 works (at least, as far as I've tested), but 2.1.17 and 2.2.4 won't start up their child services. I've got the

annoying random Firefox crash - how to debug?
Hi, My firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091216 Fedora/3.5.6-1.fc11 Firefox/3.5.6) on Gnome 2.26.3 will randomly crash, without any errors. /var/log/messages & /var/log/Xorg.0.log doesn't show anything that caused any errors. And it doesn't matter on which website(s) I'm busy with, it will just crash. Does anyone know how to check for a

Poor performance in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Hi, So I'm going to be upfront about this: I don't know how to fix this problem or even who to talk to. I've tried the JK community, #winehq, #ati, and even the ATI forums, but no there was help to be offered. Here's the problem... Playing Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=122) on Wine, I get such horrid framerates

nut proxy setup?
I've searched for quite some time and read the FAQ, but to no avail. I have a UPS connected to a NAS. Unfortunately I have to specify every single client IP (ups slave), because the stupid NAS system (QNAP) does not allow me to set a /16 or /24. Changing the config files manually does not work either, because the service won't come up anymore. (One has to love QNAP at this point.) Thus I

Hello, I am running samba 4.0.25 on a qnap NAS as a Domain Controller. NETLOGON share is available, but it is not possible anymore to execute the logon.bat. QNAP support cannot help (only information is to reinstall firmware) - how can I set the default permissions to this share? Karl

Hi, this is my first foray in samba (and newsgroups) so go easy :) I'm trying to map a network drive from a windows 7 pro client to a QNAP NAS: net use s: \\qnap\share I've posted on several forums and got good advice but the problem remains. Rather than repost all the detail, please see my original posts: http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=185&t=74639

Error on installation of Ruby On Rails on QNAP TS809U-RP [Linux]
I am not sure where I should even begin troubleshooting this. I know a little bit about Linux and am comfortable editing files and running commands however definitely not a Linux guru. I have ipkg already installed on the QNAP. I know absolutely nothing about ruby on rails. Thanks for any help. For those that are not familiar with a QNAP, ipkg is the same as apt-get or yum in some Linux

FYI: Notes on setting up KVM guests using iSCSI
DV suggested that we document some libvirt setups using shared storage. I'm not a fan of NFS, so I wrote some blog posts on how to use iSCSI in the context of libvirt + KVM. There is of course more than one way todo things, so I've outlined a couple of different options. One completely manual command line approach using tgtadm on the iSCSI server:
