centos 5.0/5.1 nfs kickstart
Hi all, I'm having a bit of trouble with something and was wondering if anyone else has encountered this or knows what the problem is. I have one computer I would like to kickstart a centos 5.0 or 5.1 install. I have another computer which is the tftpboot server and contains the centos 5.0 and centos 5.1 install directories I wish to do the kickstart over nfs and my network is using MTU

kickstart: gfx vs. txt mode
Hello, I seem to recall from my redhat5/6/7 days that certain installation methods used for kickstarting only invoked text mode install. Now I read that graphical install is default in kickstart on el5/6. However, in my test environment (with older HP DL140G3) I only get text mode install up, even if I specify graphical in kickstart file, with both nfs and http install methods. There's no

Kickstart network issues
Hello all - (Please forgive me if I sent this msg twice, first one didn't seem to go through) I searched through the archives and did not see anything about this (along with google), but if I missed something please don't hesitate to send me some links. Basically I have hit a problem that I cannot figure out at this point and seemed to have ran out of ideas via Google or the

cannot kickstart after buying new SMC switch
For some reason I cannot kickstart via pxe after installing a new SMC 48Port GigE switch. I swapped out an old hub to test and kickstarting still works with the old hub. Does anyone have any suggestions, --

Edit Access to TipsAndTricks/Kickstart
Hey, I was thinking of added some stuff about setting the network settings from the lilo prompt instead of waiting for a dhcp timeout when kickstarting a system.. CentOS 4.x - Kickstart
Anyone point me in the direction of a good howto on kickstarting an 1850 or 2850 with the latest 4.x release - I presume one does not use a ks floppy anymore as the kernel would be too big ? thanks

Kickstarting CentOS 7 VM on CentOS 6 not possible?
Hi, On CentOS 6.7 (all updates) kickstarting a CentOS 7 VM (in the way it always has worked for other versions, incl. Fedora 22 VM's), does not work for me. I use virt-install with a local copy of the "images/pxeboot" tree. It all stops with: ... [ OK ] Reached target Paths. [ OK ] Reached target Basic System. dracut-initqueue[551]: Warning: Could not boot.

Kickstart progress report?
When I'm kickstarting a CentOS5 machine, there's a progress report that shows how many packages have been installed so far, how many left, how much time it has taken, how much longer to go, and estimate for the total install time. Under CentOS6, I only get a report about packages (completed: N of M). Is there any way to add the time information back on CentOS6? This is a text

kickstart: dracut-initqueue fails due to unresolvable hostname even though network config looks perfectly ok
Hi, kickstarting fails due to problems with host resolution, even though the network seems to be properly configured through DHCP. eno1 and eno2 are both attached to the network, but only eno1 gets an IP via DHCP. Still `curl` cannot resolve the mirror host and the kickstart host during dracut-initqueue: rdsosreport.txt ------------------------------------------------ [...] [ 14.780428]

C6: kickstart problems with additional repo
Hi, I'm kickstarting a vm in ESXi 5.1. ks.cfg is on floppy, install media is ISO file. This works great as long as I don't add an additional repo, in our case it is vmware tools on one of our webservers. If I add the repo line, anaconda asks then for the used network card and indeed, switching to console the interfaces are still unconfigured. Chosing eth0 in gui continues the

Reg:Checking HDD Badblocks on kickstart CentOS installation
Hi All, Is there a way to check the harddisk health before CentOS installation.? One way I used to do was by using --badblocks check in ks.cfg file while using RH 7.2. This is not working (atleast not with the same syntax as in RH 7.2) in CentOS. Is there an alternate (correct) syntax or is there a new (better) way to check harddisk health before CentOS installation? Please help me

Setting up new spacewalk server
We have a DHCP/PXE server in a build environment, which is separate from our Spacewalk v1.5 server. We direct builds to Satellite or Spacewalk based as needed. It contains initrd & vmlinuz files for each version/arch we currently deploy for both RHEL & CEL. I'd like to keep the storage footprint to a minimum, if possible. Keeping a big directory of ISOs to loop-mount for kickstart

kickstart %pre vda/sda troubles
hi, The problem: for kvm/qemu disks are /dev/vdx devices when using the virtio driver. For vmware, drives are /dev/sdx devices. For hp servers, /dev/ccisss/whatever (sorry, no proliant with an array controller handy to check it). in order to just have one kickstart script to maintain I am trying to use the %pre section but getting a bit stuck. This is what I have: %pre if [ -b /dev/sda ] then

Possible bug in kickstart
Hello All, I seem to have run into a bug with the new --bridgeslaves=<INTERFACE> option. It would seem that if I tell the bridge device to use a virtual interface (like bond0) rather than a physical interface (em1/em2) that kickstart completely barfs on it. I have provided my network section below which works fine as long as i don't enable all the bridge content. When the

Sceduling Tasks
I''m working on a RoR project and a requirement has popped up that would required certain actions to happen at certain time intervals (as opposed to having a user initiate the action). Is there anything similar to Java''s Quartz library, *nix cron, or anything of the like for Rails? I''m certainly willing to help with/test Ruby code if someone on the list is already
