Problem with init script of tinc in debian squeeze
Hi,
I am running Tinc on debian squeeze, when I reboot, the tincd daemon
is not running at all, despite having the right link in rc2.d:
root at box /etc/rc2.d [9]# ls S03tinc*
S03tinc
When I do /etc/init.d/tinc start, it works fine.
Any idea what is the problem?
Best,

Question Wiki Setup a Samba Active Directory Domain Controller
Hi again,
I refer to
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller#Testing_your_Samba_Domain_Controller
Thank you for this great wiki! I run all the tests and everything looks
perfect!
I encounter just a little difference here. Actually I thought that there
should be no Master and Workgroup for a AD DC. (as given in the wiki and
in Stefan Kania's book

[LLVMdev] Exception Implementation Example added to Wiki
If the powers at be want this, I could easily transform the source to the LLVM coding standards, and add
the necessary portable UNIX support--someone else would have to add non-UNIX support although the
System library probably helps with this. However I'm guessing the LLVM release flux of the exception system,
along with a lack of universal platform, dwarf JIT support might be a hinderance in

Bug#655714: xcp-squeezed: fails to install due to insserv rejecting the script header
Package: xcp-squeezed

Severity: serious
User: debian-qa at lists.debian.org

Hi,
during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install due to
incorrect dependencies in the init.d LSB header. Some debian notes are
available from at http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts

[LLVMdev] compiler-rt project PATCH
In lib/gcc_personality_v0.c, I believe the type of the exception_cleanup member of the struct
_Unwind_Exception is incorrect. It has a return type of _Unwind_Reason_Code versus a return
type of void as specified in http://refspecs.freestandards.org/abi-eh-1.21.html, and as can be seen
in unwind.h on Linux, and OS X 10.6.x (the latter's unwind.h is under the Developer directory tree).

Debian package init scripts
Dearest list,
I am using dovecot with heartbeat-2 and I noticed that the init scripts
in the Debian packages from http://xi.rename-it.nl/debian/ do not
conform to the LSB standard:
http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_3.1.1/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-Core-generic/iniscrptact.html
E.g. the return code for "program is not running" is not 3.
Is there is special reason for this?
Cheers Jan

Hi!
I have been in discussion with several other accessibility projects to
work on a common API for speech synthesis and speech recognition drivers.
I suggested to discuss this on a mailing list and to found a new list at
freedesktop.org for this purpose. Since there are also a number of other
accessibility related areas where cooperation is

How to auto-start Guests when using 'xl' toolstack? 'old' configs in /etc/xen/auto/ are ignored without xend service active.
I''ve migrated my Dom0 host to Xen 4.2.0 + xl toolstack.
With ''xm'' toolstack, configs in /etc/xen/auto are autostarted, assuming
xend/xendomains services are started.
IIUC, when using xl toolstack, those services are not to be started;
and, afaict, the installation process for 4.2 has them disabled by
default.
Now, the configs in /etc/xen/auto are simply ignored. I

[LLVMdev] Linux/ppc backend
Hi Jim,
I didn't use any documents, but intensively looked at gcc's output. I
think this document:
http://refspecs.freestandards.org/elf/elfspec_ppc.pdf
is the last specification of the ABI.
Cheers,
Nicolas

At first I felt the same way but the service files are starting to
seem simpler. Yes,

That's _exactly_ what I'm talking about.
Run-level 3 starts xdm.
Several Linux distros use 2 for multi-user, 3 for multi-user w/X.
Run-level 2 as multi-user w/o networking or w/o NFS was

Nicolas,
Would you point me to the Linux/PPC ABI documents you are using so I
can better judge what your restrictions are? These changes also have
an effect on debugging and exception handling.
Cheers,

Bug#458502: xen-utils-common: Slight problem with LSB header in init.d script
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 3.0+hg11292-2
Tags: patch
User: initscripts-ng-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org

When testing dependency based boot sequencing, I discovered a bug in
the init.d script for xen-utils-common. It is set to stop in the boot
"runlevel" (S), but no script should stop there. Also, xend only

Shorewall and OpenVSwitch on Debian
Hi, I have a machine with a Debian Stable installation that runs
OpenVSwitch to connect a virtual machine on the same box.
The machine is also running shorewall.
The problem that I''m having is that shorewall try to run before
openvswitch, this makes that shorewall fails because it can''t
determine the IP of the virtual interface generated by openvswitch

init script for tinc-1.1pre10
HI,
Is there an init script to start stop tinc tinc-1.1pre10 for debian.
I am running tinc -n name --pidfile /dir/name start from /etc/rc.local
sometimes it's not creating the pid file but I see the process running.
It would be great if we can manage it from /etc/init.d/
Thanks
Anil

tinc 1.1pre. How to automatically start vpn tunnels? How to change the installation/config path to the same as tinc 1.0.x version from ubuntu repository?
Hi!
I have compiled and installed tinc 1.1pre5 on a ubuntu machine.
With the tinc 1.0.x version that is included in the ubuntu repository I am used to having the config files in /etc/tinc/ and where each vpn has a own directory.
The file nets.boot placed in /etc/tinc where I can specify which vpn tunnels that is going to start automatically.
How can I get the vpn tunnels to start automatically

This guy must be an idiot
OK, can someone tell me what utterly moronic thing I am doing wrong?
I have two roughly identical Linux system running NUT, and one works
properly. The other almost does. The second system works well once
everything is up, but after booting, the system does not have connectivity
to the UPS. I have to manually run `upsdrvctl start backup`,
`/etc/init.d/nut start`, and `upsd` to get NUT
