cyrus2courier or cyrus2maildir.py, which to choose?
What's the best utility to use to convert mail folders from a cyrus
2.2.13-10, on a debian 4.0 Etch system, to folders that can be used by
dovecot?
The http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Cyrus page isn't too clear on
what's the difference.
cyrus2courier says "It should be able to preserve message UIDs, flags
and 26 first keywords."
cyrus2maildir.py says "preserves

cyrus2courrier mass migration
Hello,
So we've chosen to use dovecot as our imap mail server and replace our
old cyrus server ! BUT :
I would like to do a conversion of my imap accounts (and keep all theirs
characteristics) from cyrus-imapd-2.2.12 in cyrus format to dovecot
1.1.3 in courrier format.
I've tried those 3 tools :
cyrus2courrier.1.5.ts
cyrus2courier-1.3z4

migrating from cyrus
Hi all,
I want to migrate our customers mailserver (400 mail accounts), from
cyrus-2.0.16 to Dovecot. Anyone an idea how I can preserve the read/unread
status and what can I do with the UIDL? (cyrus used a different algorithm for
UIDL).
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,

Cyrus MailDir to Dovecot mbox
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Anyone out there know of a tool that can convert a Cyrus MailDir format
to Dovecot mbox? I have a user that I need to move over from a mail
server running cyrus using MailDir format. At first I told him to setup
second account with Thunderbird to our mail server and then use
Thunderbird to move the messages over. But he has over 100K messages so

imapsync
Hi All,
I'm trying out the imapsync migration tool,
migrating user mails from cyrus IMAP to Dovecot IMAP.
In order to avoid knowing about each of the users
password, I use the cyrus admin user in the cyrus end.
Is there such a thing as the dovecot admin user, or
is that simply the root user?
Any input appreciated

Cyrus migration program updated
I updated cyrus2courier to work with Cyrus v2.2.12 and v2.3.9. It also
migrates now keywords (first 26 of them). I call this version 1.5.ts, at
least until (if) an official v1.5 is released. You can get it from

mta/mda config
Hi all,
I'm at the stage of planning our new mail system and am evaluating dovecot for
it.
For large mailstore setups, it makes sense to split maildirs across many
directories. I see that setting default_mail_env to something like
maildir:/var/imap/domain/%1d/%d/%1u/user/%u/ would create almost identical
on-disk layout as multidomain cyrus setup. Now, as dovecot does not have its

folder hierarchies with migration from cyrus to dovecot2
Hi,
I finally migrated my IMAP server from cyrus to dovecot2. I have been
using cyrus since many years and have not much experience with dovecot
yet though.
I've converted my imap server using cyrus2dovecot (several times until
I thought it was correct) but there is one thing left which confuses
me and I'm not sure what I can or need to do to change it.
With Cyrus I used

Invalid Headers
Hello all,
I have been trying to compare Dovecot to Cyrus and in trying to to
migrate some mail from Dovecot to Cyrus I am unable to do so because of
an invalid header. The From header is incorrectly written as From> as
opposed to the correct From: . Any idea what may be causing this and
how to fix it?
My setup is Fetchmail->Postfix->amavis-new->clamav->dovecot for dovecot

migration from cyrus to dovecot
hi there,
just a short question. ;-)
are the tools mentioned in the wiki for migration from cyrus
(http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Cyrus) still working fine with the
latest dovecot release 1.0.2? i remember there have been some internal
changes from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 to keep compatible with the upcoming 1.1.
thanks and best regards,

Folder layout after Cyrus to Dovecot migration
# dovecot --version
1.2.15
We're trying to migrate a server from Cyrus to Dovecot, and we're mostly
there.
On Cyrus, the folder layout in the MUA is:
INBOX
subfolder
subfolder
...
Sent
Drafts
Queue
Trash
Users cannot create sibling folders to the Inbox, only subfolders (and
sub-subfolders, etc). We've replicated that with:

Cyrus Virtual Domains: Domain migration from Cyrus
hi,
we want to migrate from Cyrus 2.x to Dovecot 1.x (!). We use the virtual
domain feature from Cyrus for a better disk partitioning:
/var/imap/domain.a/user/foo ..
/var/imap/domain.b/user/foo ..
/var/imap/domain.c/user/foo ..
In a exported skiplist DB, it shows like:
=================
domain.a!user.foobar 0 int foobar at domain.a lrswipcda postmaster at domain.a
domain.a!user.han 0 int han

Cyrus-imapd update from 2.2.12 to 2.3.16
We are trying to move our mail store from a host running cyrus-imapd
2.2.12 under CentOS-4 to one running 2.3.16 under CentOS-6. The
current host is a 32 bit architecture. The new host is 64 bit. We have
followed the update guide found at:
http://www.cyrusimap.org/docs/cyrus-imapd/2.3.16/install-upgrade.php
The steps we followed were:
1. Install cyrus-imapd et al on the new host.
