USER environment
Browsing in the 2003-September archives, I found out how to start dovecot from inetd (using imap-login instead of imap). Still I've got a few problems. I prefer not using inetd, but that seams impossible (see my 1st email). And telnetting to port 143 results in an immediate connection close. Hmmm, I'll continue exploring the archives. Regards Evert

create mask for specific files
Is it possible to set a create mask and/or a force create mode with exceptions for specified file extensions? E.g. I want shell scripts (*.sh) with the executable bit set, but other files should not be executable. AFAIK, this is currently not possible, but maybe I'm wrong. Regards, Evert

Generic smb.conf file
Hi, Does anybody know where I can get an untouched smb.conf file? When I used samba-swat, it rewrote smb.conf and deleted out the comments that was in the original file that came with samba. The problem is some calls from the PSTN have hidden caller id so if you want to change it to something else then modify chan_sip.c #define CALLERID_UNKNOWN "Asterisk" I've changed mine to: #define CALLERID_UNKNOWN "Unknown" -----Original Message----- From: Shaun Ewing [mailto:sewing@gmail.com] Sent: 22 September 2004 14:16 To: Asterisk Users Mailing List

Wrong ID going out...
Hi all! I'm trying to have asterisk route all outgoing calls out via my VOIP provider. exten => _NXXXXXXX,1,Dial,SIP/BYEXTENSION@VOIP seems to have them to in the direct direction. However, debug shows that my asterisk doesn't identify itself correctly: Sip read: SIP/2.0 100 Trying From: "Evert"<sip:asterisk@[my IP]>;tag=as0aca53fa To: <sip:[dialled

severe error in SSH session key recovery patch
http://www.core-sdi.com/advisories/ssh1_sessionkey_recovery.htm includes the line of code: kill(SIGALRM, getppid()); This is contained within what is listed as an "unsupported and untested patch" developed by SSH.com. The problem is that the arguments to "kill" are in the wrong order. In other words, to obtain the effect that was apparently intended, the line of code

Issue with running tftpd-hpa in inetd mode?
Hopefully I'm not out to lunch here. I ported tftp-hpa to our proprietary OS, VOS (at stratus.com). We've always runs the old legacy tftpd from inetd, so I wanted to continue doing so with tftp-hpa. It seems to work okay, but I noticed that the code in tftpd.c has a 'while (1)' loop that has this at the end: /* * Now that we have read the request packet from

unz() ignores encoding argument
Hi! I'm trying to read individual files from a ZIP archive, using the unz() function. Some of the files contain non-ASCII characters and I'd like to avoid unpacking them in a temporary directory. My problem is that unz() seems to ignore the encoding="latin1" option I need to read the non-ASCII characters properly. I can't find a clear indication in the documentation that

nmbd forkbombed my machine :-\
Hello everyone, Assuming this is the right place to post potential bug reports, try this : (Apologies if it's been posted/covered somewhere else, but your lists don't seem to have a search facility...) nmbd had a good go at fork bombing my "server" just now, with a setup as follows : Samba 2.2.0a on Slackware Linux v8.0, linux kernel 2.4.16. i586 with 500ish mb of ram.

Inserting a wait in a sip dial
Hi All, After searching and didnt found it, im just sending my situation here, maybe someone knows where i should look. Im using Asterisk 1.6.1.10 Internally the user with a sip phone dials a number for instance 0623456789 It goes fine to the specific dial rule: which is: exten => _0[6].,2,Dial(SIP/0${EXTEN:1}#@xs4all-out,60,tTwWkK) This works fine without a charm, but the situation is that

constrOptim doesn´t send arguments to optim!(?)
Hi, I think that there something wrong with the 'constrOptim' max/minimization function because she doesn?t send extra arguments to 'optim' call. Fact: When I use optim in a f(x,theta)-like function, everything goes ok. But using constrOptim with the same function leads to error... Proof: Make a small change in the 'Rosenbrock Banana function' (taken from the Examples

SCO 5.0.5 setluid patch
I downloaded openssh-2.5.1p1 as soon as it was on the ftp servers just to get the setluid patch. After compiling and installing on 5.0.5 I saw that the luid still wasn't being set correctly whether sshd was run from inetd or as a daemon from /etc/rc2.d/. I fiddled around and moved the setluid() stuff up higher in session.c and now luid is now being set correctly. I provided a regular diff

Samba with Global File System
Is it possible to use Linux Samba with a Global File System and have all servers reading and writing the same files at the same time? I've heard that Samba maintains a small database that contains meta data type information that is not communicated to other Samba servers. And because Samba sits above the file system, GFS cannot guarantee it has correct information about the files. Does
