Rcmdr plugins produce error
I recently updated all my plugins, and for the fun of it, I added ALL the Rcmdr Plugins to my collection to see what functionality might exist. I started Rcmdr and loaded ALL the available Plugins from to the Rcdmdr Tools menu. To my suprise Rcmdr produced a number of warnings and finally an error. The error suggests that some of the extensions are incompatable with each other because of menu

Update problem? Rcmdr disappears, won't re-open
WinXP, R 2.10.1 I just updated R, and now have trouble. Perhaps it was the method I used to keep all the packages. I copied all the new packages from 2.10.1 back into the 2.10.0 folder, then copied them and all the others I've previously added from the 2.10.0 folder and pasted them back into 2.10.1's appropriate folder. Is this the source of my troubles? I am trying unsuccessfully to

Writing Rcmdr Plugins
Dear all, I am trying to write a plugin for the RCommander and having troubles understanding how to actually do that. I have read Mr. Fox's tutorial about writing Rcmdr plugins and though.... it seems to me that some steps are missing. I would like to know, whether there are some Commands which generate a plugin package out of a given library. Or do we just have to attach the .First.lib

Plot qnorm
Hi, I have this problem: X is hazardous variable N(mean 2, sd=3) >>question 1) Find the c value, so that P(X>c)=0.10. using R >>question 2) Graph the function N(2,3) and with this graph, explain what you do in question number 1. I just found question number one but not the second one. So, I'd like to make a plot form this distribution N (2,3) using the functions plot and

How to set up a function for "Central Limit Theorem"
Hello guys, I am stuck here: How do I make 1000 samples of n = 10 observations from an Exponential distribution and then compute the mean for all those 1000 samples? Basically I need to prove the Central Limit theorem, which states: http://www.nabble.com/file/p22664113/d175f06cbf200bd52a2c27a2e56dc594.png Where the Sn is sum of random variables, n we have from the question, mu is mean and

Looping through R objects with $ operator and tags
Hi all, Suppose I want to set the values in a column to the log of the values of another column like so: object$LogDist <- log10(object$Distance) How do I loop through the objects if I have object1, object2, etc to perform this function? object1$LogDist <- log10(object1$Distance) object2$LogDist <- log10(object2$Distance) object3$LogDist <- log10(object3$Distance) I was trying to

Struggling to compute marginal effects !
In that case, I can't work out why the first model fails but not the second. I would start looking at "Data" to see what it contains. if: object2 <- polr(Inc ~ Training ,Data,Hess = T,method = "logistic" ) works, the problem may be with the "Adopt" variable. program never enters browser mode when I add browser()
Dear All I have a program that breaks at the following lines of code: bigfunction = { ... object1 = myfunction(x) object2 = strsplit(object1, ",")[[1]] ... } where myfunction is defined elsewhere outside of bigfunction. The error I get is "error in strsplit() -- object1 not found". However, when I insert browser() into my code so that the above reads, bigfunction = {

how to test for the empty set
Dear R-help, I first thought that the empty set (for a vector) would be NULL. x <- c() x However, the documentation seems to make clear that there _many_ empty sets depending on the vector's mode, namely, numeric(0), character(0), logical(0), etc. This is borne out by y <- letters[1:3] z <- letters[4:6] intersect(y,z) which, of course, is non-NULL: is.null(character(0)) #

Problems with memory
Dear all, I've started working with R (vs 1041) a few weeks ago, and now I'm having problems with the amount of memory. I'm working on the windows-me, my computer has 128 Mb of memory. I'm using the R under the emacs (ESS-5.1.20) and it is started by the command: Rterm --min-vsize=10M --max-vsize=100M --min-nsize=500k --max-nsize=1M I've been had problems when executing a

Create R object
Dear R users, I have two simple questions here, and hope someone can help me on this. Thanks in advance. 1. I have a list object lst=list(a1=matrix(rnorm(4),2,2), a2=matrix(rnorm(4),2,2),a3=matrix(rnorm(4),2,2)). Here I only use three elements for illustration, and in fact the length of lst, n, is unknown in advance. I want to define an object for each element of this lst, and the objects have

returning argument names
Dear r-list folks, I have a problem which has been bugging me for a while now and I was hoping someone out there might be able to help. If I have a user-defined function with an indeterminate number of arguments, using the well-known "..." construct, how can I get the function to return the names of the items which were the arguments of the function as part of the function's

I gave an answer, then read David Winsemius' answer, and then did some follow-up investigation. I would like to change my answer. Odd Behavior Out of setdiff(...) - addition of duplicate entries is not identified
I think I am using the improved version of setdiff(...) that handles data.frames, so I think some odd behavior was expected but this one is escaping me. It appears that the the addition of duplicate entries is not caught by the setdiff(...). Is this expected behavior? If so, is there another method or approach that should be used to identify duplicate row entries between two different data

How to create a list that grows automatically
Dear R users I would like to know if there is a way to create a list or an array (or anything) which grows automatically as more elements are put into it. What I want to find is something equivalent to an ArrayList object of Java language. In Java, I can do the following thing: // Java code ArrayList myArray = new ArrayList(); myArray.add("object1"); myArray.add("object2");
