ROXML from_xml not returning an object instance...
Hello, I have two ActiveRecord classes. One is Route the other is Waypoints. I have constructed an XML representation so I can use AJAX to create a Route with all waypoints in a single create call to RouteController. When I call Route.from_xml(xmlString) it is not returning an object - it''s leaving the object (@route) nil, but not erroring. Any ideas? Here''s some code:

Anyone running EasyGPS or ExpertGPS?
With wine-1.1.14-1 under Fedora 10, EasyGPS launches, finds, and correctly identifies my Garmin GPS (something Garmin's own software under wine still can't do); and it tries to copy my waypoints. It even claims success; but then it gives endless pop-ups (277 of them, at a guess -- the number of waypoints it says I have). By the time you close all those, it crashes; and on re-launch,

Mappery breakthrough : Garmin topo, vista, rino, under linux & CXO
As most of you know, I've been trying to make GPSs and topo maps usable under Fedora Core 4 linux, using CrossoverOfficePro (CXO) 5.0.1. I've belabored nine or ten specialized lists for six or eight weeks, parcelling out pieces of the problem wherever I hoped they might arouse interest and knowledge. I've gotten invaluable help and encouragement from all of them, on the lists

Salvage old data?
For years, I could install, and sometimes run, legacy private map software under Wine. But in order to connect it with my GPSs, I had to keep a separate hard drive with XP, and do that there. Then came a brief time when I could also actually make my Garmin GPSs talk with the software under Wine. I transferred all my data to it, and gleefully wiped XP off my machine. Then the connecting

OziExplorer works on LINUX using WINE
I've succeeded in running the wonderful charting program OziExplorer (3.85.3c), http://www.oziexplorer.com/ , on LINUX (RedHat 6.2) using WINE 20010112. The times to load the program and to load a map did take 5 to 8 times longer using WINE than they did using WIN95. I was able to enable the serial port and have the position computed by my GPS displayed on the chart. OziExplorer is a

layers of polylines, events building up on map
Hi all, Here''s my situation: I have a little route creation app that lets a user create a route. I''m using the mapstraction version of ym4r... here is the workflow: first page has a map displaying the start point of existing routes. if they click "new route: creates a route_object clears all polylines in case there are any clears all the markers and adds an onclick

One toolbar button not working in Chart Navigator
I had an installation of Mandrake Linux 10.1 (wine 0.9.9) for which Maptech's Chart Navigator functionally worked out-of-the-box. Absolutely nothing was needed to be done to install or run, and everything worked. I attempted to install ChartNav on Mandriva 2007.0 which failed. I then attempted to compile most recent version from source, and Chart Nav continued to fail on start-up. I

Garmin Trip & Waypoint Manager installer won't run
Hi, I'm trying to install version 4.0 from the CD that came with my GPS unit. I'm able to run Setup.exe and get to the initial startup menu. The links to visit the Garmin website and exit the installation work fine but when I click the one to install the app I get the hourglass cursor for a fraction of a second, like it's starting to do something, but nothing happens. This is my first

Routing through LatLng points and other stuff
Hi to all! Well, I''ve been trying to find a solution to route using known LatLng points - I already have the location position, all I needed was the actual route, so I''ve put together an addition to the "mapstraction-route.js". I''ve listed it below, so maybe it would not be a bad idea to merge it to the trunk... Also, I have a few other questions regarding

Google Cloud Directory Service password synchronization for AD DC
Hi Justin, Thank you for your answer, I had found this utility during my searches, and will probably try it. As you say, reversible + plaintext is far for optimal from a security point of view. Also, I would like to integrate the solution in a "packaged" distribution like for example Zentyal or UCS. But I'm happy to learn that this solution is viable, I wouldn't lose my time

Mappery inquiry
Last time I tried, a few years back, Wine was not yet up to handling Garmin's proprietary topo map software. It would install, and sometimes even work, so long as I didn't try to connect a GPS to it. (The ones I have are all also Garmins -- old ones wanting a serial port.) I made a huge effort, for most of a year, with a lot of help from high-powered Alpha Plus Technoids on several

Google Cloud Directory Service password synchronization for AD DC
I'm trying to have my Samba 4 AD DC users mapped and synchronized with google apps for education accounts. I would like to start from the native windows password update procedure to eventually update the google apps password (actually, I think only some types of hashes are stored). Google actually provides a tool to synchronize user accounts and profiles which works juste fine. This tools
