nlminb doesn't converge and produce a warning
Hi Everybody, My problem is that nlminb doesn't converge, in minimising a logLikelihood function, with 31*6 parameters(2 weibull parameters+29 regressors repeated 6 times). I use nlminb like this : res1<-nlminb(vect, V, lower=c(rep(0.01, 12), rep(0.01, 3), rep(-Inf, n-15)), upper=c(rep(Inf, 12), rep(0.99, 3), rep(Inf, n-15)), control = list(maxit=1000) ) and that's the result :

[PATCH v2] xen-netback: add a pseudo pps rate limit
VM traffic is already limited by a throughput limit, but there is no control over the maximum packet per second (PPS). In DDOS attack the major issue is rather PPS than throughput. With provider offering more bandwidth to VMs, it becames easy to coordinate a massive attack using VMs. Example: 100Mbits ~ 200kpps using 64B packets. This patch provides a new option to limit VMs maximum packets per

how to resize heatmap without rescaling?
I am using R version 2.12.1 on Win XP. I have done a heatmap with dendrogram using the heatmap.2 function. The heatmap basically looks like I want it to be, but the labels of the columns are cut off. I.e. the textual labels of the columns, although they are not very long (less than 12 characters), do not fit into the window and can not be read entirely. If I manually resize the graphics

question about the axis label
Hello sir: I have a question about the axis label of scatterplot3d function. The data is in the attachment. If I use the command: scatterplot3d(x,y,z,type="h") I want the plot's x-axis lab to be 1,2,3,...,13, y-axis lab to be 1,2,3,...11 But if I use the command: scatterplot3d(x,y,z,type="h",x.ticklabs=1:13,y.ticklabs=1:11) The axis labs are overlap, still can't

Integration of two lines
Hello, I need to integrate the absolute difference between two lines measured on different points. # For example : x <- seq(0, 1, 1/100) f_x <- runif(101) + x y <- seq(0, 1, 1/23) f_y <- runif(24) + (1 - y) plot(x, f_x, type="l") lines(y, f_y) Then I would like to compute Integral( | f_x - f_y | )dx. (This is not the same as | Integral(f_x)dx - Integral(f_y)dx |.)

Convert COLON separated format
I have a bunch of data sets that were created for the libsvm tool. They are in "colon separated sparse format". i.e. 1 5:1 27:3 345:10 Is a row with the label of "1" and only has values in columns 5, 27, and 345. I want to read these into a data.frame in R. Is there a simple way to do this? -- Noah Silverman, M.S. UCLA Department of Statistics 8117 Math Sciences

How to substitute special characters within a data frame?
Hello all, I have a data frame in R, imported from an excel file in Swedish. The original file contains several columns that have special characters, such as \¨{a}, \¨{o}, and so on. After import such special characters are represented in the data frame by "\\345", "\\366" etc (don't ask me why). For example, a word "Hårkan" becomes ''H\\345rkan".
